It's essentially the same song, isn't it? (which is no bad thing, because I'd struggle to think of a better song from the past ten years than A Flood of Light, so am quite happy to listen to variations on it)
A lot of mathcore band have disbanded but they have continued and evolved. Truly inspiring.
From intensely dark and heavy on Drip to... the exact opposite. Absolutely phenomenal song! Time Will Die was my AOTY when it came out and I can't wait for the next one.
This song has *haunted* me the past two days. It's been about the only song I've played. It's just wormed its way into my soul. Absolutely lovely. The fact that they can turn on a dime and just make glorious metal noise as well stuns me. Very late to this party but glad I showed up.

This song an Aftermath are both very dear to me. Love these songs for room they give to the melody to grow. And the structure in their chaotic parts. These songs make me breath. Perfect for a late night on your balcony.breathing in the early autumn air.

A lot of generic mathcore bands make music for self-indulgent purposes without much direction on how to evolve the sound into something more dynamic/emotional. Don't get me wrong I love mathcore or adjacent bands, but Rolo Tomassi definitely took more of a Deftones-esque approach to crafting albums. This band doesn't make just "heavy metal" music; they make emotionally "heavy" metal music. They've managed to somewhat distance themselves from mathcore into really their own category of 1 (example - Deftones vs. generic Nu Metal of the late 90s). On just about every album they manage to retain familiar sounds/tones/production/song-writing techniques from previous records while simultaneously bringing in new influences -- example being the Nils Frahm/Olafur Arnalds/A Winged Victory for the Sullen influence on this track. Either way this band is such an awesome case study on how to unapologetically brand your own unique style of music
