I love this band, you should check out their songs "Electric Cross" + "Holy Roller" + "Belcarra" 👍🤘
"Rule of Nines" is a great song but the rest of their music really sold me on the band.
They also released a new song called "Constance" you may want to check out!

Thanks for the suggestions! Looking like Holy Roller might be one of their more popular ones, so I'll be checking it out soon!

Spirit Box doesn't allow themselves to be stuck into one style of music, they do whatever they like with each song, a little bit of everything for everyone. Definite you need to check other songs out. You will probably like Holy Roller and Belcarra for sure. The imagery in their videos is probably up your alley too.

Glad to hear it. I love bands that cross genre boundaries. I've got Holy Roller in my Watch Later list. I'll check out Belcarra, as well. Thanks!

They’re self described as “art-metal,” as they find influence from all kind of bands, including progressive, djent, and metalcore bands. Mike is a brilliant guitarist and writer, and he’s purposely written it so a lot of the times guitar and bass are very similar. His first band was straight tech with tons of tapping and sweep picking. Almost everything in this band has been written in such a way that it’s less of what he and I jokingly call “guitar masturbation.” He can drop off and do lead lines when needed, and it elevates certain parts in a practical way that he can Bill can do live without a ton of backing tracks if for whatever reason something goes wrong with their system that has their backing tracks.
Think of your favourite harsh vocalist, and Courtney is naturally about 20% louder than they are with her harsh vocals. She’s easily one of the best metal vocalists today, and has come a long way from her first band.

This is my favourite song from Spiritbox, I think they're such a versatile band. Interesting you mentioned nu metal, I never really thought of them like that, but I definitely agree with your comment about the layers in their music, there's just so much going on. Great reaction. You should check out holy roller for something really heavy by then, and constance for something very beautiful and haunting

Please take a look at "Vintersea - The Holy Procession". It's nearly 10 minutes of awesome lady metal vocals and great instrumentals.
As far as Spiritbox goes, their songs "Constance" and "Holy Roller" are at either end of their soft/heavy spectrum respectively, and should give you a good idea of what they're about.

That's exactly the kind of research I need. A variety of their capabilities. Thank you so much! And Vintersea? I'm guessing either pirate or viking metal? maybe a mix of the two? Just guessing by the name. Haha. I'll check em out!

Melodic progressive black(ish) metal is probably the closest description

I am not a big fan of the clean part, almost reminds me of Linkin Park. Check out Holy Roller, that is one exception that I have liked so far from them.
