All the soaps have their strengths but none capture the bitter sweetness that so often characterises life like Coronation Street. I remember watching this at the time and thinking what a stunning, poignant piece of drama.
Beautiful song and video so powerful the message that gets across sat here crying poor Clare I have to admit Ashley didn't deserve to go R.I.P Ashley Peacock xXx
Poor Claire :( The miming is hilarious and reminds me of when Karen did that for a Knots Landing Christmas episode, but it's always nice to hear Rita sing.
Can anyone tell me if "Just Another Winter's Tale" is a new song? Mary had the sheet music for the song and Rita was familiar with the writer. I'm going to start going after our radio station, starting December 1st, to include that song in their Christmas repertoire. It's such a beautiful song and Rita's voice always leaves me with goose bumps. She is fantastic.
Didn't realise when this was when I first watched it, but then realised it was just after the tram crash. Claire was crying about Ashley's death, and Tyrone was thinking about Molly (who was also dead). I wasn't watching it when it happened, but I do know about it. 😰😰
who cares if the sining werent brilliant..the lyrics were heartbreaking.and of all characters to sing it..am glad it was rita... i was sooo moved at the end
Shame they never did this in EastEnders when Eddie Moon was in it, because then someone could've said "Ey, Eddie, you look (and sound) just like David Essex!" 😂😂
the song was beautiful rita has such a beautiful voice the only complaint i had was when they showed tracy considering what she did i thought it ruined, the video.
Thing is, if they were all still getting over the tram crash-and Ashley and Molly's deaths!- wasn't it a bit much for Mary to be in Santa get up and someone else wearing a Santa hat?! Especially with Fred (Ashley's father) and Claire (his widow) there?!
Whitney McDonald I know he was accused of being a paedophile, but he was only accused. There was never any definite proof, or he wouldn't be back in Corrie today, he'd be locked up.
absolutely gorgeous and so appropriate. so glad I found this, this has been playing in my head for weeks now. Love Barbara Knox, brilliant singer.

Love Rita ❤️❤️❤️
AMAZING! She ended this episode really well! Love Rita, glad she didnt die in the tram crash, as she is one of the best!
Thanks Christine, indeed we mostly watch US-soaps on TV. But one thing has changed: Now, I love Mike Batt and his music! Regards from Germany!
Just beautiful, Rita is such an asset to the street. They should have released this as a single!
Anyone not totally moved by this momentous ending to this episode should really get with it, Beautiful Rita and producers and Thanks
beautiful. barbara knox is a star of the old school.xx
I loved the end with Clare and Ash twinkling up high letting her know he's still with her.
Oh you don't know what you're missing. It's one of the best shows ever created. Beats American soaps by a mile. Cheers from Canada.
Thank you so much, Bekki. It's such a beautiful and moving song.
I love Rita, love her singing.
She sounds like Mrs Potts from Beauty and the Beast

@hollyhawthorne its a cover of David Essex's song :)
Barbara Knox is a brilliant singer
I'm not the biggest fan of Corrie but must say what an emotional song and ending.

Why did no one go and see poor Claire was alright!
Thing is, if they were all still getting over the tram crash-and Ashley and Molly's deaths!- wasn't it a bit much for Mary to be in Santa get up and someone else wearing a Santa hat?! Especially with Fred (Ashley's father) and Claire (his widow) there?!
Fred died long before Ashley so he wasn't there.
Why? He hasn't done anything, a person or persons have made allegations against him but thats it.
Rita get on x factor!!!
Bet Kym and Keith were pig sick, thinking wouldn't let us sing, would you, bastards lol!
thank God, can't stand Kym Marsh and she can't sing either.
Its really awkward watching Ken now
