I remember that wacky face from Adam Johnson using some of this footage for “generic tour video“ but I didn’t realize it was actually Greg Stump talking on the video(in addition to other Talking Heads)...
I love these videos. America's golden era. I wonder if we have a Bruce Jackson interview somewhere. I would really like to hear the stories from that pioneer
Yeah that’s probably the most iconic clip that was part of the intro of KFC3: straight jackit... I first saw those clips on that video and that’s what inspired me to search for this video. Took almost 18 years to find it lol
Dude bless you! If it wasn’t for you I don’t think anyone would really even know this video existed. Even the people in the video probably confuse it with the two or three other similar projects they made! It was over 30 years ago 😂
My uncle got me into rollerblading in the 90s... Except we couldn't afford real rollerblades so we bought knock off rollerblades called roller derby that came with abec5 bearings and neon green clear wheels. They looked so dope... But within a few years the shell dry rotted and shattered like an Easter bunny chocolate shell from just squeezing it. Today I'm on twister 3wds...
Rollerblades hit the market in about 84/85 but distribution was pretty spotty…. You could only get them in ski shops for the most part. from 1986 on they were more widely available, and the minute they had nationwide distribution, imitators popped for sure. By 1988 you probably had ultra wheels, Seneca and Variflex to name a few.
Thank you! Took me years to find this one... I was researching on the Internet trying to find out about the video since 2004 and actively searching for it on eBay since 2013-ish. No one even knew what it was actually called until I finally found it 2 weeks ago
You know when I first saw that clip it was in the skate video “KFC4 generic tour video“... I was like “who is this liar talking about going 90 miles an hour?”.... now that we have the original video we can see that he was an actual comedian! Freaking awesome 😎
Jill Schulz is now married.. she goes by Jill Transki and is responsible for the “All wheel sports” show at Knott’s berry farm amusement Park. Bruce AJ Jackson has recently founded a smart clothing tech company. Pat Parnell has had a lot of tv hosting/espn gigs over the years.
It’s all good; we know he was being a chill fun dude. No racial undertones, just a guy who imagines himself as a literal monkey. Common sense was actually common back then so people just assumed what he meant. Kinda reminds me is the movie “Step Brothers” where the Father/Step-Father use to imagine that he was a dinosaur 😂
Rollerblading filmed and edited by Greg Stump before we copied skateboardings homework. Very important history. Thank you for uploading!

Bruce jackson has it all figured out. This is one guy who knows where he’s at.
He’s the original blade god for sure!!!
Lost media win! Your diligence paid off - loads of pure 80’s fun.
Maybe you could take some pointers from Bruce “AJ“ Jackson.. you’ll be a pro blader in no time
@@flyingonblades I want to be him when I grow up
So dope. History AF
They do some 10 foot plus airs at the end. Unreal considering the lace up cuff!!
1:36 I love this part. I remember watching that clip somewhere like 10 years ago on YT... Bruce Jackson is a real one!! "INVERTED"

Does Bruce Jackson = "Action Jackson" from Vertical Axis or VG1 ??? Or one of those dawn of skating videos.
Yea same guy! He made up his own nick name lol
@@flyingonblades what a champ. Wonder where he is now.
I’ve heard he hangs at Venice beach or something and posts random stuff on some form of social media

Honestly Roller derby was pretty decent. I started on variflex blades myself!
I did my homework, lol. This was awesome. The jumps at the end...geesh. So was Rollerblade the only inline skate company at the time?
