So I took resting a little more seriously this time around! And it paid off. It's always a difficult needle to thread between overtraining and undertraining, especially with such short cycle! Glad I was able to finish Leadville for a 4th time, and can't wait to share with you! ps: and wow, a quick count suggest Leadville was my 12th 100 miler this year... (!!!!)
Congratulations on another Leadville!! I've fallen in love with volunteering. It's an absolute blast, and gives an even greater appreciation for all of the work that goes into putting races on. And while I already appreciated/thanked volunteers, it makes you really grateful for the ones who go the extra mile, in any way. I CANNOT WAIT to see your upcoming races!!! Good luck in training!
Thanks! We'll get there :) It's slower to grow a channel when the channel isn't heavily funded by industry and they can hire folks to edit, optimize algorithm, film for you, etc. But I think my way creates movies that are authentic and personnel, and I simply hope at least some people appreciate them. Ultimately, that's what I care about. And seems to be the case, so all good :) I wonder if there is a live stream for TDG. I haven't heard so, which is too bad because it's a big and famous race (less so in the US because, well, it's not in the US).
Nice video!!! It was awesome to see you out there bro!. I had some stomach issues late in the race and i really wanted to run but felt really sick when i would run ,still finished! I also didnt sleep at all the night before because i had pre race jitters😂
Congratulations, especially on pushing through adversity and stomach issue! ps:... sleep the night before next time lol. That reminds me of Fuji where I came in already sleep deprived. No bueno!
Thanks! There's always next year :) I'll probably be back myself, most likely running. Or supporting Brian who's likely going for his 1000 miles buckle!
Congratulations Simon!! It was so awesome seeing coming up the backside of hope pass and I have watched so many of your videos and used them as pointers. Thank you for doing that you do my brother. Best of luck on your next adventure 👊
First video of yours I watched was the TRTER and then I saw you in Leadville and was like, “that guy looks awfully familiar” 😂 enjoying your content and your journey!
Congratulations! Fantastic video, I always learn so much from them. I have a n ultra coming up soon and I've been struggling with chaffing during my training. What running shorts do you wear during your races? I notice you wear the same blue shorts in many of your races.
I wear compression shorts - generic brand. I honestly don't even know what they are (I could look it up but point is, they are nothing special). Underwear makes the biggest difference for me, and sadly, the ones that work VERY well for me, ... I can't seem to find again as they are discontinued. Putting some lube in friction spot helps a lot too
I work in biotechnology, new medicines. I used to be a PhD scientist (was also a pharmacist prior to that), but now I'm adjacent to research. It touches both science, business, legal, negotiation and contracting. Basically, I find partners for our research and development programs, negotiate and contract with large pharma (we're a midsize company). Cool and stimulating work, and there's also a clear and meaningful purpose (advancing medicine, particularly in rare neurologic disease including pediatric). But it's also a lot of work at time where you need a very broad background.
No, we're right after (like a day or so after I think). Good luck out there - seems like a great race. One day I guess I'll have to do it (but I still have zero stones...)
In the US, my top 3 are Ouray 100 miles, Zion 100 miles, Tahoe Rim Trail. All 3 are very different too (I have movies about all of them if curious). Outside of the US - I really haven't done much. I couldn't travel for the past 4 years - only recently have I been able to. I only did Fuji and QMT abroad. QMT I heard the 100 miles course is being discontinued so not very relevant anymore. Fuji was cool. Not the most exciting course but more exciting than leadville. It was cool to have Fuji always in the background, and the trail was a hard and challenging course. I'm pretty sure tour du mont blanc and tor des geants will rank very high on my list in 1 month

Congratulations on a half marathon worth of subs!
Thanks - and thanks everyone for watching :)

That's awesome, thanks for volunteering. Yes you meet a lot of nice folks and get a better appreciation for what goes under the hood!
Congrats simon. Your channel deserves 100k subscribers, tho I dont think there are that many trail runners. Hope there's a stream of Tour de G 200

Awesome job at Leadville, Simon! I was hoping to get out there to support everyone, but it just didn't work out. Hopefully I'll be there next year!

How was your day out there?
@@runningwithsimon thanks my brother took me 3 attempts to finally complete this race. It was an incredible event.
First video of yours I watched was the TRTER and then I saw you in Leadville and was like, “that guy looks awfully familiar” 😂 enjoying your content and your journey!
haha thanks! Trust me, there's a big back log to watch...! My personnal favorite are Zion 2023, Ouray, Badwater!
Congratulations! Fantastic video, I always learn so much from them. I have a n ultra coming up soon and I've been struggling with chaffing during my training. What running shorts do you wear during your races? I notice you wear the same blue shorts in many of your races.

It was fun to see you at registration and on hope pass!
I was a bit more cheery outbound than inbound haha
@@runningwithsimon me too! But got it done.
Cool video, as always. What do you for work? I mean, outside of running, creating, editing and publishing videos?

@@runningwithsimon how in the world do you have time to run? Impressive that you can do both. 💪
Thanks!
Thanks for the support Linda :)
Will you being doing the TMB during the UTMB? I'm running UTMB and would be awesome to run into you on course!
No, we're right after (like a day or so after I think).
Good luck out there - seems like a great race. One day I guess I'll have to do it (but I still have zero stones...)
I think Javalina might be the biggest 100M- 900 runner limit. Leadville had 773 this year.
@@wk633 oh true. Wow javelina is getting out of control…! I feel first year I did it was about 200 runners
Hope you'll have 42,195 followers soon
haha exactly! Thanks :)
@runningwithsimon You say that Leadville isn't your favorite course. What's your favorite course in North America? The world?
In the US, my top 3 are Ouray 100 miles, Zion 100 miles, Tahoe Rim Trail. All 3 are very different too (I have movies about all of them if curious). Outside of the US - I really haven't done much. Missing Colorado already....
It was too short :(
