    I remember back in the day a buddy of mine saying "who wants a Camaro or Trans Am?", they're like assholes, everyone has one. These were every other car on the road back then.
    Wish I had one now!

    Sweet ride. I miss my 1980 Z28 Camaro also, Motor gave out, my Dad sold cause he had the title. Sadly it was a big mistake, The person who bought it didn't do nothing with the car and it just got in so bad condition. The person took it to the junkyard. Broke my heart when I heard the news.

    had one brand new in May 1978 , 4-speed, positraction ,black but w/ gold trim but the 350 engine only had 170 hp !!! but it was fun to drive and cornered like it was on rails !!!

    It seems a _little_ garish now but in that era these were the cars to have. Z28 Camaros always had their devotees but in '77, Smokey and the Bandit undeniably made the Trans Am very popular and by default their sister-car, the Camaro. This beautiful example of the 1978 Z28 is stunning.

  • @startmeup4622

    This one and the 77/78 Trans Am were the best looking cars in history period.

    Sometimes having a "black and blue" can look REALLY good. Especially true when the black and blue hue adorns a 22,000 mile cream puff.
    And you've gotta love t-tops.
    Nice BTO soundtrack too. Goes with that whole Seventies vibe.

      I had two 79's myself. One with an automatic, the other with the 4spd.
      4spd was definitely quicker out of the gate.
      I think my favorite was the the 1980 z28, with the functional air induction hood scoop, coupled with the 4 spd.

    In 1980 armed with a 1979 Trans Am, I bet several of these on the streets of North TX, the 350 chevy engine could not compete against the big block T/A.

    • @brianlatulip1747
      @brianlatulip1747 5 років тому

      Well yeah. More horsepower in essentially the same car. That seems pretty obvious. That’s like saying I raced a bunch of 2000 SS Camaros in my 2000 WS6 that had a 100 shot of nitrous and I gapped them all.

  • @Buelligan88
    @Buelligan88 9 років тому

    My 78 was white with hounds tooth cloth seats. I didn't have (or want) T-tops, but other than that, the car was optioned out. I would have preferred A/C delete and a stick instead of the TH350, but it was still a great car. With just headers, a true dual exhaust and carb and timing adjustments, it was actually a pretty quick car for what it was. The engine was good for 6,000rpm in stock form and my Z was quicker than all the Trans-Ams my friends had. I bracket raced it quite a bit in the 1/8th mile with a best time of 9.42 in fairly stock form.
    I had some great times in that car and managed to drive it daily for 10 years with no accidents which was quite an accomplishment for me. My first Camaro only lasted 2 months before I totaled it. My good ol' white Z wasn't the quickest or fastest car I've owned, but it sure did serve me well.

    I remember when these were out in 1978 you could get one for $6000 brand new if you were easy on the options. It's strange to think that a VW Corrondo of today can run circles around this Z/28. The power rating were low back then like 180 to 220?

  • @blackericdenice
    @blackericdenice 9 років тому

    I had a 93 Roadmaster with 180hp 350 and 4070lbs. and I thought it was fast.
    So I guess a 78 Camaro Z28 with about the same hp and a little less weight would be a tab faster.
