I heard they apparently played most of the album at this session!!! And listen to that speedy tempo on Be Here Now! AND Liam is singing in a very different technique
Noel using more of the natural amp-drive here then later on in the BHN tour where he had some sort of fuzz/tonebender pedal on all the time through a 120watt (!) Matchless Chieftain amp. This recording sounds so much better and well balanced. The whole BHN tour was ungodly loud onstage wich resulted in voice-cracks with Liam from the moment he sang “Touch down base living on the run” at almost every gig. It was almost like they were trying to live up to themselves in all the wrong ways. By the time the tour ended they were exhausted, hungover, Liam’s voice was shot and the audience moved on to something else. A shame really.
Yes, someone else who noticed the effect on Noels guitar on that tour, I kinda thought some kinda chorus or the like, does feature throughout the tour too.
Why couldn't this be the album version of Be Here Now?? Those songs from that album when played live are MEGA.. because they're not overly arranged and cluttered to absolute. Noel's rethink of D'you Know What I Mean is literally top 5 Oasis songs for me.. wish he'd done the rest.
Something surreal looking back that IGM was played live a year earlier but only those at the summer 96 gigs in the UK would have heard IGM previously. Now it would be online five mins after being played at a gig.
In my opinion, I think Liam sounds slightly hoarse in the beginning of Be Here Now. This could be due to laryngitis or simply just an infection or cold.
I remember watching ‘Right Here, Right Now’ the day before Be Here Now came out on BBC1 and then queuing up outside the music shop to buy the album the next day. An underrated album, if they have dropped out Magic Pie, I hope, I think, I know and maybe The Girl in the Dirty Shirt aswell, and added Stay Young that’s a great album.
Awesome to hear you watched the doc on the night. I did listen to the album not too long ago and asides from feeling a bit long (It’s Getting Better Man really dragged for me as well as a few others) I thought the songs chosen were great. Stand-outs like D’You Know What I Mean, My Big Mouth and Don’t Go Away help it a lot.
I hated magic pie when I first heard it , but my best mate at the time who wasn’t a massive fan like me but liked oasis absolutely loved magic pie . Best album for me cos of all the memories that go with it
Also the first oasis album I actually went and brought myself . I didn’t go up town earlier cos my for mentioned best friends didn’t show up for us going up the town , so my I went with my mum and nan uptown in the car , I got the album long after the Ques were gone so that was good straight in and out , bucket of kfc and off home to blast it out . Don’t go away blew me away .album took a few listens but loved it so much still do and years later it was the best album to listen to when drunk .
That was such a bonus having that bbc doc the night before . I never it was on just came on and I stuck a vhs in straight away , watched that and listen to the album just as much . Crazy days but they made us shine ✨
Yeah somewhat more strained compared to the KROQ session just a couple of weeks before this where Liam sounded great. Still really enjoy the air studios performance tho.
@@Shakermaker94 there was at least 2 versions of It's getting better man performed as an alternate take was used on Jo Whiley Be Here Now Radio special
@@VFAFOOTY Interesting, thanks for letting me know, I wouldn’t be surprised if more versions of Be Here Now exist, as the version here is trimmed down to 3 minutes when it normally played for around 5-6.
Vocals sound a bit strained. Even before the tour. Odd. Never noticed that before. I think the relevance of Diana dying is overstated. I mean, did it really reflect the nation's mood that much? I was quite young, but still would have loved a Morning Glory. This album wasn't that. But I still like it. These versions are great, to be fair.
I wouldn’t say Diana’s death made people hate the album, but it did impact the album by shortening the longevity of it’s release and popularity, due to the nation going into national mourning for the following days after.
Always loved this live session
Same, the footage as well looks very good in HD!

Interesting! I do wonder if that rumour is true.
@@Shakermaker94 yeah who knows. There are so many rumours about the band

Yeah Noel did plan to remix all the album but got bored mid-way through and cancelled the project, resulting in only DYKWIM being fully finished.
@@Shakermaker94 I thought he said that remixing it defeated the purpose of the album, not that he got bored.
My favourite rendition of ‘It’s Getting Better Man’
It’s one of my favourite renditions of the song too!

Yeah, it was played at almost every live performance past the U.K shows, being heard in the U.S as well.
There were cd bootlegs tho so hardcore fans would have been able to hear it
This is played about x1.2 too

Yeap, same here, watched it & then got it in the early afternoon, LP was just too long but Stay Young would have been better than 3 songs on BHN

BHN as long as it should have been on the album tbh
My 14th birthday 🎉
Liam's vocals are good here... and Noel's wah sounds funny. Here's a little funky jam for you guys : ua-cam.com/video/7eNU7qDSpdY/v-deo.html
IMO liams voice sounds fatigued for pretty early on in the tour.
Yeah I’d say he’s already pretty rough by the time they kick off the second half of the ‘97 Tour in November.

find out how many tunes they performed at this session ?
I’m not sure, as you can see Fakest says that the band may have played the whole album here, which would be interesting if it is true.

Both songs would have sounded even better with Tony on the drums.
Who knows, but i’m happy with having Alan on the BHN songs
I don't think so...
I wonder how Tony would sound on My Big Mouth, that’s a song that would fit his hard, loud drumming

Obviously, Stand By Me would have been number one as well. Without that Candle thing. Which I bought.
his voice was on point in September 97 gigs, dont know why it's strained in here, probably from partying
Yeah, Liam somehow sounds a lot like his Late Sept - October voice here. A bit strained, and even slightly deeper, too.
Hope its not melt festival x
It’s the whole iTunes gig In high quality
How BHN should have sounded not 96 different parts by track
True!
