  • The first block in a 12 month series! If you would like to sew along and learn how to make beautiful quilt blocks, then this is the series for you! We will be making one block per month and at the end of the 12 months you will have enough blocks to make a quilt sampler. I will be teaching you how to make simple and complex quilting blocks over the next 12 months and then I will also show you how to put the quilt together. So whether you are new to sewing or have a lot of experience, this will be a fun project for you!
    The first block of the month is a 4 patch pattern. I will be showing you how to make different designs with a 4 patch square. I hope you enjoy this series on learning how to quilt!
    Crafting made fun and easy! Join me as I teach you how to make beautiful crafts and quilts using different techniques.

    Good Saturday Morning to you. Happy New Year. I just found your videos a few days ago, and like watching what you do. I ‘m a fairly new quilter, about a year now. I ‘m a retired garment maker, so I’ m very interesting to learn how to quilt now in 2020. Have a wonderful day.❤️🧵😃

    Wishing you would explain how to cut your squares so evenly

      Candy- I’m not sure where the confusion is. I show exactly how I cut my squares. What part are you struggling with in the cutting process? I will try and help to clarify.

      How do you line up the fabric so it comes out square?

    • @TheCraftyAuthor
      @TheCraftyAuthor  4 роки тому

      Candy- On my cutting mat, I line the bottom of the fabric up on one of the lines, straight. I then use my ruler to cut the selvage edge off using the vertical lines on my cutting mat. You will need to decide how much you want to cut off. If the fabric isn’t even, I continue to use the lines on my mat to cut until the fabric is square. 😊 I hope that helps.

      Candy- Here is a video I made on cutting. I hope this helps explain it better.

    Will these blocks be AccuQuilt friendly? I know probably not the same size but will the shapes be something that someone with an Accuquilt Qube would be able to do? If not, not problem. I got a new toy for Christmas and would like to be able to use it to justify the expense. LOL.

      Phyllis- I completely understand! 😊 I am going to try and do them AccuQuilt friendly as well the traditional way. 😊

    Are you going to post the instructions & measurements for each block somewhere?

      Mathalee- Yes. You can find the measurements and such on my blog. :). Here is the link: craftyauthor.com/block-of-the-month-january

    Have my column all the way up and I still can't understand what you are saying.

    • @TheCraftyAuthor
      @TheCraftyAuthor  4 роки тому

      @Phyllis- I'm not sure I can help with that. I just checked to see how the volume is on my end and it seems to be working fine. I even turned it up and it's pretty loud. Perhaps UA-cam is having technical issues?
