It is the violent, drug-addicted homeless that I was describing. For example, their behavior is atrocious. One homeless camp was living under a bridge of a major interstate highway. They had to be moved because they were setting fire to the bridge for no reason. That is the type of homeless people that is becoming more and more prevalent here in Oklahoma City.

The charities' primary function is to employ their staff. None of whom start out homeless or impoverished. Once you have used the support system, it will never hire you.

I was homeless for 6 months after 102% rent increase and an injury to my right shoulder that left my right (dominant) hand and arm useless for 6 months. Plus this threw off my equilibrium and I kept falling and had to walk with a walker. I am 58 years old, and I did not receive any empathy from people working for CBI or the city. I was treated like a criminal drug addict with no criminal history or use of drugs. I'm in college now so I could pay for 2 months in a studio apartment/extended stay. I now fear going back on the streets because my rent is up in a week and I have not been able to secure an income.
Do people realize that when you are arrested, that costs the city and state money? Lawyers for both sides, money that is put on the individual arrested, and the arrest put on the individual background check that now they may not be able to get job, resources, or housing. I have heard that some of these politicians believe that if they punish the homeless individual, they will learn a lesson like a child. That logic is so wrong. Children don't learn lessons by harsh punishment.

Basic human needs like housing should not be commodities, IMO. They are so right. Homelessness is a choice... but not by the homeless, by the oligarchs who run our society. The more poor vulnerable people there are in the world the more power they have.
MY states largest city forced it's taxpayers to spend tens of millions on a "Tiny Home Village" for vagrants. For years now it has sat almost entirely empty while vagrants slept on the sidewalk just feet away from the village. When asked "why", the vagrants all stated the same thing... "Too many rules" Like no drugs or alcohol. Our city reps also started a work program for vagrants, $15/hr CASH to pick up litter along the road. It also included free transportation to/from shelter and three "free" meals plus snacks. The program was scrapped after just weeks because almost no one took the opportunity, of the few that did most left after the first day, some even left during the first day. When asked "why" the vagrants said they had to show up sober and that they could make far more money standing at an off-ramp or intersection in less time. But yea it's everyone else's fault but theirs 🤣

It's the political will that is lacking. Everyone I know is mad, but we don't know where the "lever to pull" is. Thanks for bringing these great presenters together to get me closer to understanding what the argument actually is.
All the charities refer to each other. They hand out a list of places to call and none of them actually do much. They cherry pick some cases that look good in pictures and help those few. The charities' primary function is to employ their staff. None of whom start out homeless or impoverished. Once you have used the support system, it will never hire you.

"I am currently seeking legal assistance to address the challenging circumstances I am facing. It seems that I was compelled to leave the county where I have resided since 2018. This is the third time I have encountered similar issues in the state of Colorado, and I believe there is a larger underlying problem (A systemic one). I have been journaling since I received the approved Mainstream voucher from the county/state on September 11, 2023. I experienced homelessness once again during the pandemic in Larimer County after being laid off from my previous employer. Several events occurred to me during the pandemic that led me back to homelessness, due to circumstances beyond my control. It was not my choice, but rather the benefits and refunds owed to me that spiraled me into homelessness again. I have been a resident of Larimer County, Colorado since March 2015."

I think the lady in this video is the most out of touch glassy eyed liberal I've ever seen but she makes the strongest point when combined with the black mans best point. Housed people do say "We just want to see this homeless encampment GONE NOW!" I know this is true because I used to be one of those vocal homeowners demanding my elected officials to just GET RID OF THIS DAMNED eyesore in our midst. I remember yelling "How can you call this a luxury community with that garbage on our streets!" Then I remember watching an Invisible People video that asked, "You want the encampment GONE NOW? DONE! Where do people who must live in the encampment go that lets them live safely and legally?" I had no answer.
I have been homeless like 4- 5 times . It is a crime to sleep outside ? Why ? why is camping at a campground not illegal?
We appreciate your efforts. Keep working hard.😊
Homeless people are not criminals, they need help.NOT HURT. OUR COUNTRY REALLY GOVERNMENT IS TOTALLY OUT OF TOUCH.
Who said they were?
But homeless people often commit crimes
And for that they should be arrested
@@virgilhilts3924so do housed people like the politicians.
Do not arrest homeless people!! It does not work!
This is more than just a handful of evil people in the world ; Evil is actually running the show. The powers that be will never put people before profit. On either side. Money is their God.
Great dialogue! Thanks.
So sorry to hear that and hope things get better for you soon!

May I suggest a book to all of you, if you haven't read it. It was suggested just now by one of my professors for all those involved in social activism. "A Beginners Guide to Better Worlds," written in 2020. Six authors of the University Press of Bristol. One of its authors writes specifically on homelessness.
Thank you, Mark and all, in this discussion.

People are “choosing to use drugs”, which is tantamount to choosing to be homeless, since drug addiction makes a person unemployable.
You know I have to help homeless woman one time she stayed with me about 3-4 weeks to rob me for everything I had buy her drugs and alcohol and I tried charges on her and had her arrest now she's in prison time and still wants to get out and be home with she has a place to live and that's where she's going to be he got 15 years and I'm glad he took my money took my jewelry he took everything she could get but I am so happy she's doing time ain't on the street you got a place to lay her head on in a place to eat
Karma will repay your good deeds. Maybe try helping a family next time?

These people say.
That homeless people aren't criminals. Does that apply to most of them?
I'm just curious
Wow. Did he just say poor people? I'm glad. Almost no one talks about class in politics.
Homeless people breaking into someone's property and living there. That's not right.
Pandering to voters?!?!? We got the right to vote awhile back (heavy on the sarcasm). And DO.

Lots of meth users among the homeless but Mark won’t speak on that. It’s everyone else’s fault.
@@ponolovefarms3926 I do not believe a public park is place for anyone to set up a tent. I agree that some of these people are drug users and some of them just want to do whatever they feel like regardless of how it affects the community at large. I would hate to live close to them. But then there are some that really need housing assistance.
Lumping the drug addiction under homeless is like when a person with a fatal gunshot wound happened to also have covid so they counted it as a COVID death! Can we please start to tell truths and really help people.
Research has proven that the vast majority of vagrants abuse drugs and/or alcohol
We are all human, people with "power" control and make decisions for everyone and everything, they give wild life a home and laws of protection and so . we that experience homelessness or poverty for any reason aren't given a home ,and we are human beings, we are persecuted daily by police for just trying to survive and we are vulnerable to violence , and elements of the outside conditions, help us homeless who ask for help, not those who choose to be in the street is a start, because then those individuals will just go back to the street wasting resources from us that appreciate and need it, replace all of these shelter and homeless workers with people who care because they treat us like we are in jail , treat us like inmates, treat us disrespectful, and they are impatient , I need help 😢 i try so hard i keep applying for jobs , im homeless it's not easy to get showered and stay clean , no where to store your belongings , it's tiring walking everywhere, and lastly we need better managersat work because they are perverts who only treat young women very nice and the rest of us men like trash , facts facts facts, and i never had a hotel voucher but i know that all these drug addicts in phoenix have wth . I don't do drugs.
They 9:32 don't have enough services to give homeless people anyways.
Keep it up
Lots of homeless people choose drugs and refuse housing.
If homeless get free housing, then so should all of us.
As a taxpayer, you pay more money for a homeless person to be outside then you would for them to be in housing. Housing homeless people and homelessness and saves your money. But to your point - housing should be a human right.

If you are homeless or you have an alternative lifestyle like living in a RV the police are on you twenty four seven. I RV full time still working at sixty to survive drive a three hundred thousand dollar class a clean cut man no drugs or alcohol . I personally have had over one hundred encounters with police for no good reason nothing ever happened but why always the same answer someone called 😮
Tiny homes are ok until they get burned down by the drug addicts - who prefer the streets. At least here in OKC.
Have you ever spoken to a homeless person living on the streets? Find a family living out of their car, and ask them if a tiny home would help...
@@CoolBreezeHeals Yes, I have worked with the homeless many times. I am not trying to group all homeless people into one category. I am just describing the situation here in Oklahoma City. In my twenties, I spent a lot of time with the homeless. The demographics of the homeless have changed a lot in just the last 15 years.
So we should be arresting people who have houses? DUHHHHHH

Maybe just maybe they should stop committing so many crimes? I just heard a statistic on KFI am 640 that said 70% of all arrests in Santa Monica are homeless people. Staggering.
And the earth is flat! Sheep!
Maybe just maybe you should stop listening to propaganda radio
You just said it yourself. 70% of ARRESTS are homeless. Arrests AREN'T crimes. What are the arrests for? Did you look it up? Research?
Were they for murder? Theft? Or any ACTUAL crime or JUST BEING HOMELESS? Thats the point you yourself made. Its legal to arrest people for just being homeless. If you lost everything tomorrow, by your OWN definition... You would be a criminal!
Fascinating. You hate yourself.

The 3 wishes question 🤭 Answers are so fake 😂 Give me a break
Thank you for your feedback and watching to the end
Yeah, I find the three wishes question to be insulting.
Cruelty Dehumanization Homelessness Poverty..."Such things must be and the end is not yet." (Matthew 24:6) At least it won't end when you want it to - that is, when you think it cannot get any worse. But lest you think there will be NO END to the "injustice": "I will fill Hell with jinn and humans all, a multitude from every community." (32:13 Quran) The '"injustice" will end when the crime has fit the punishment - an eternal punishment. If the punishment has no limit what will limit the crime? What will stop the "injustice"? "But the day of The Lord will come like a thief in the night. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements [atoms] will disintegrate in flames, and the Earth and everything in it will be laid bare." (2nd Peter 3:10) And many will realize on that Day that The Earth never had been their True Home as the Quran had made quite clear in the 7th Century A.D. "Earthly life is not The True Life." (29:64 Quran)
