Centésima Novena Vuelta a Francia. Primera Etapa, Resumen Breve. 1 de Julio del 2022. Copenhague.

La Grand Départ de la carrera tuvo lugar en Dinamarca con una Contrarreloj de 13,2 km por las calles de Copenhague.
La prueba contra el reloj estaba programada para comenzar a las 16:00 (hora local) en la Región Capital de Dinamarca, o Hovedstaden en danés.
176 Corredores, de 22 Equipos tomaron la línea de salida uno por uno, en intervalos de un minuto. Había un punto de control de tiempo en Sankt Jakob en el km 6,6.
El pronóstico del tiempo indicaba un día lluvioso, y se esperaba que la lluvia más intensa cayera al final de la tarde. Es habitual en cualquier contrarreloj que los favoritos salgan últimos, pero, en esta ocasión se les dio la opción a los favoritos de comenzar su contrarreloj antes (alrededor de las 17:00 horas) que según la previsión meteorológica tendría condiciones más favorables.
Pero no fue eso lo que pasó, la lluvia fue más intensa cuando los favoritos estaban en plena acción durante la competición, y las condiciones fueron más favorables al final de la tarde.
Los Favoritos:
Stefan Bissegger (SUI), ex campeón mundial de persecución individual sub-18. Su bicicleta de contrarreloj tenía un plato alucinante de 64 dientes (inaudito en una bicicleta con ruedas de 700c, en una contrarreloj de carretera de este calibre). Por ejemplo, usando un plato de 64 dientes con un piñon de 13 dientes (un desarrollo que es posible ver a Bissigger usando en este video), mi calculadora indica que una bicicleta con ruedas de 700c recorrería 10,99 metros (¡11 metros!) por cada vuelta completa de la biela. La eficiencia óptima se alcanza entre 90 y 110 revoluciones por minuto.

Tadej Pogačar (SVN), ganador de las dos ediciones anteriores de la carrera, y su compatriota el actual campeón olímpico de contrarreloj Primož Roglič.
El incontenible Wout van Aert de Bélgica para quien el segundo lugar nunca es una opción en una etapa como esta.
El actual campeón mundial de contrarreloj Filippo Ganna (ITA).
Cuando todo se asentó, el ganador fue Yves Lampaert de Bélgica, ex campeón nacional de contrarreloj. Lampaert, de ninguna manera un favorito en esta etapa, detuvo el cronómetro en un tiempo de 15 minutos y 17 segundos. En segundo lugar estaba Wout Van Aert (BEL) 5 segundos atrás, y en tercero Tadej Pogačar (SVN) 7 segundos atrás.

The Grand Départ took place in Denmark with a 13.2 km time trial through the streets of Copenhagen.
The Time Trial was scheduled to start at 16:00 (Local Time) in the Capital Region of Denmark, or Hovedstaden in Danish. 176 Riders, from 22 Teams took the start line one by one, at one minute intervals. There was a Time Check point at Sankt Jakob in km 6.6.
The weather forecast called for a rainy day, with the heaviest rain expected to fall during the late afternoon. It is customary in any time trial for the favorites to start last, but, on this occasion the favorites were given the option of starting their time trial earlier (around 5 PM) which according to the weather forecast would have more favorable conditions. But, the rain was more intense when the favorites were out on the course, and the conditions were more favorable in the late afternoon.
The Favorites:
Stefan Bissegger (SUI), a former World U18 Individual Pursuit Champion. His TT bike had a mind boggling 64 tooth chainring (64, 11-30) (unheard of in a bike with 700c wheels, in a Road time trial of this caliber). For example using a 64 tooth Chainring with a 13 tooth Sprocket (a development that is possible to see Bissigger using in this video), my calculator indicates that a bike with 700c wheels would travel 10.99 meters (11 meters!) for each full turn of the crankset. Optimum efficiency is achieved between 90 to 110 RPM.

When all the dust settled the winner was Yves Lampaert from Belgium a former National Time Trial Champion. Lampaert, an underdog in this race stopped the Chronometer in a time of 15 minutes and 17 seconds. In 2nd was Wout Van Aert (BEL) @, 5 sec and in 3rd Tadej Pogačar @ 7 sec
