- This is just one of many ways to edge joint without a jointer, but it's a pretty quick working solution and one that isn't seen too often.

This is my new favorite "jointing without a jointer" video!
This is so much easier than all of the table saw jointer sled videos I just watched. Thanks for this!
Absolutely brilliant. Like setting an offset fence on the router table. One of those remarkably simple yet genius ideas we’ve never thought of. Thank you!
Ain't it crazy that the obvious solutions aren't always so obvious?
I laughed out loud when I saw this because it's such a smart idea and I felt like an idiot for not thinking of it myself. Genius!
This was totally not what I thought I was going to see, I just got schooled!😯 Great work again Jodee!!💪
This is literally using the table saw as a jointer with the blade setting of a kerf! Genius!
This is EXACTLY what I needed right at this moment.
Dude, I'm totally tossing my jointing jig out now for this. Thank you
Clear and concise, no fancy intro, no merch begging, just simple to use advice and delivered in a non condescending manner. Why have I not seen any of your videos before? I'm now going to check out your other content, if it's pretty much as fantastic as this then you will have one more subscription!
Great video 📹👍
this x2
Wayne, You are dead on!!!
One of the reasons I subscribed was because he never asks anyone to.
Just a warning, the technique in the video only works when you are trying to get rid of a cup, it will not work with a crown.
Yup, 95% of Jody's stuff is this good and clean. Hard to find a more consistently effective channel on YT.
I just discovered you, after building furniture at the serious hobbyist level for about 30 yrs. Thanks for being articulate, SMART, and brief. I love that the ideas are simple, extremely useful, and useful at all levels of skill and experience. Keep em coming!
This is perfect! Thank you. I needed something simple and quick to make so that I can actually focus on projects instead of spending too much time on making jigs
I don’t know how you thought of this but thank you from the bottom of my wooden heart.
I'm loving these quick-tip videos. Straight to the point, simple, effective, no fancy expensive tools, and I'm learning something new each time. Literally perfect content for folks like me.
WOW! What a great tip. It is like you’re recreating the function of a jointer on the table saw. Please keep sharing these.
Right? I feel like it's so obvious after watching this video... That's literally what a jointer would do for your edge... I'm simultaneously glad I found this, and ashamed that I'm too dumb to have come up with that myself by just looking at my damn table saw...
@@Nebx1989 right there with ya.
Excellent presentation!! Concise yet complete!! Thank you.
Simplicity at it's finest! Not overly complicated like other videos, great job.
So much simpler than other jointing setups for the table saw. Thank you!
WOW !!! Just perfect, This the best and simple solution ever. Thank you !!!!!
It's surprising how simple that is, yet really effective! Thanks for this
This was amazing, and needs all the views! 100% I will be doing this method in the future! Thank you, sir!
Great idea, and nice job explaining it very clearly. I have been woodworking for over 40 yrs and I always learn something from your videos.
Best explanation and demo so far on how to use this jig. So simple. Thanks a million.
You have been quite a few good ones lately and this is one of them! Of course, this is, in fact, a jig but it couldn't be much simpler. Thanks!
Mind blown by the simplicity of this! So cool, thanks for sharing!
This is absolutely brilliant. The best table saw joining technique I have seen.
I've seen enough, I subscribed, watched three videos and your techniques and explanations are perfect
So far i have seen 3 of your videos. All brilliant! Solving exactly problems which I didn't know how to handle. Thank you for sharing so simple solutions with straightforward explanation!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing this incredibly easy to implement jointing solution. 👍
That is a terrific tip. I wish I would have thought of this years ago. I can think of many projects where this would have been useful.
This is prolly the most useful tip video I have seen on here so far. Thank you.
Another great example of how accurate your "no measure" style of woodworking is. You have me thinking in new ways!
That is a great, informative, no nonsense video using what most woodworkers have-- a tablesaw! Thanks for sharing this handy, easy to setup tip! Keep up the great work!
Nice job and very uselful!
Perfect timing. I was debating building a jointing jig just a few minutes ago. With a melamine shelf lol. First few words out of your mouth 😎
So simple and therefore brilliant! Your presentation is excellent.
@Inspire Woodcraft. I am in love with your channel. Your tips are very simple and easy to implement that a newbie can do a lot without messing up. Thanks a lot for sharing them with us.
This is great. Thank you. Looks like a great technique to also starting the square up process of scrap plywood you might have laying around. As opposed to grabbing a track saw.
Man! This is brilliant! Simple and good enough for most of what I need. I can finish it off with the hand planer if I need.
Hey Jodie
Fantastic idea! I often have to resaw most of my wood due to cupping. I have had some success but your idea is genius. Many thanks from those of us who don’t have a jointer!
Fantastic!!!! Thank you. Super great idea for the "smaller" workshops.
You deserve more views and subs. Best, quickest, no-BS video for a simple fix. Everyone else loves to fill their video with cheesy dialog and intros.
Great job!
I can now finish my project I’ve been tinkering with all day
Awesome. I have seen plenty of videos of making jigs/sleds using plywood (or other engineered material), but I think this is really awesome and less setup. one can certainly see how this operates just like a jointer. Fantastic helpful guide
Holy crap, I wish I had found this yesterday! So simple, and so much safer than sliding a level between the piece and the fence. I'm going to be trying this tonight. Thanks!
Hey Jodie! Thank you very much for sharing that. That was a simple but yet fantastic tip👌
OUTSTANDING! You're the first that I have seen with this technique. Thank you.
That’s a fantastic tip! Well done explaining what to do and how and why and when this works.
You are a genius, and a life saver for me. I was struggling to figure something out and this worked perfectly.
Just tried this on a couple of old bench oak boards that were severely warped. I can glue them together as tight as any jointer could make them. Brilliant!
I was wondering if this actually works? It looks so simple, it seems like it's a trick of the camera or something haha. I'm going to try it on my radial arm saw, since I don't have a riving knife on my table saw, or a Saw Stop tablesaw.
Who would have thought! Like all brilliant ideas they seem so obvious once you see them. Very much enjoy your practical and easy to implement shop tricks!
This is genius. Best tip out of all of those out there teaching people how to get a straight edge without a jointer. Absolutely genius!!
I've watched several of your vids And i think you are very good at taking your time to explain the methods used Thank you
This is perfect! So glad I found it (thanks to Morleys video)! Gonna save me so much time from clamping/unclamping and moving around my Table Saw fence like I had to with the jig I’m currently using
OMG! This is amazing - thank you so much for going to the trouble of making a video…. This has revolutionised my DIY joinery! Thank you
Best video I have seen on this. I have several pieces of pine that I need for a project and this will help. Thanks!
This is awesome! Just in time for some floating shelves of solid wood that I'm going to do next week. Thanks for sharing this cool trick!
I had no idea where you were going with this for the first half of the video. What a great idea!
Awesome tip Sir! I'm about to make a work table out of cutoffs and going to use this to get them to all match up. Thank you again! Subscribed!
Really, really smart. This will be my go to for jointing edges from now on
EXCELLENT! I just used this method to shave off a 1/16" along one of the legs of a plywood triangle I'm using for a jig I'm building. I should have sized the triangle blank before I cut the angle, but forgot to. This video saved my project. Thank You! Subscribed and Liked.
You share the most simple solutions to often seemingly difficult situations and show us how it can be done. Bravo and Thanks!!!
2 years later, you're helping me with this trick. Just getting deep into woodworking and was trying to find a solution without a jointer. Cheers!
Grear work buddy! Very clean easy to use solution with minimal set up. I'm excited to try this
Wow what a great approach. I was skeptical till you flipped that piece around. Thanks a million!
your channel showed up on my feed today and I already learned two new techniques. Just fantastic
Great job with the video and the explanation. I have seen people try to explain this in other videos and I was left confused at the end. Keep it up
I have never thought or seen this! I don’t know if you came up with this or if it was learned, but it’s brilliant! I’ve done this with a two part router fence, but this is a new level. New subscriber for this one.
This is really ingenious, for all little shops like me who cannot afford a jointer yet, this is a life saver, and opens many possibilities. Thanks.
HOLY FREAKING ACTUAL CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE A FREAKING GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mechanical Engineer Tool Maker/Machinist that not only designs and builds Automation Machinery but builds furniture as well. I NEVER would have thought of that. DAM YOUR GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an amazing find ! It doesn’t get any simpler than this. Well done .
Literally the best trick for getting a straight edge from a table saw, I’ve seen yet!! Awesome stuff. Going to guy try that rn
#1 Tip ive seen on Utube for wood working! Tanks
The most useful video I've watched since I started woodworking three years ago.
I like this woodworking tip on the table saw. You just earned a new subscriber here. This no nonsense technique is what I want here. Thank you.
WOW... I've been watching a lot of table saw videos about this topic and your "jig" is the easiest and fastest method I've seen so far! I actually plan on trying this method soon! Thanks for your idea! I gave a sub.
Champion! . Thanks for saving me a lot of time on jigs that end up on the firewood pile. And yes, no BS, no Oscar winning performances of "This is my life and how cool I am". You're a cool bloke. Cheers mate
You are DA MAN! Your ideas are so simple yet practical that they're genius!
Damn! Once again, great stuff, man! Very cool little workaround for someone (me!) who doesn’t have the budget or space for a jointer. Thanks for sharing!
THANK YOU!! I am making a desk and need to joint some boards for a glue up and don't have space for a jointer and this is EXACTLY what I needed.
Dude you’re a life saver. I wish I saw this video earlier. Thank you !
Wow!
That is brilliant. I have tried a lot of different methods that I have seen but this is the best. I am in the process of making 31 tables out of treated pine and was struggling to get a perfect straight edge for joining. Can’t get a jointer locally and it’s to expensive for me to bring in one at the moment. This will save me so much time. Thank you , thank you.
Love your content and this is an excellent solution to those that need to joint edges on their TS.
Two things spring to mind, firstly you need to ensure your fence is absolutely parallel to the blade, personally I have mine open a degree or so to guard against pinching and kickback. So if this isn't working perfectly for you check your fence alignment. Secondly as with all jointers make the "guide fence" as long as possible to give the best support to the work piece throughout the cut.
I have used my router table to joint boards in the past but I will try this, probably 60in made from 18mm birch ply laminated to 36mm, alignment after initial setup might be problematic if you are looking for real accuracy but we will see!
Keep up the good work!
Great trick. This is what I used to do before I had a jointer. I've also done a similar set up with the router. Still a good trick for when I'm on a job site and don't have access to my jointer.
An amazing solution....thank you for sharing this
This is awesome. One of the simplest designs I’ve seen.
What a quick/ easy/ accurate way to edge joint. This guy is Einstein . I tried it and works great
I stumbled onto the channel purely by chance. Dude... You have brilliant ideas! Super easy to execute too!
That is great for long boards!! Thanks for sharing ☺️
this is easier than other methods i've seen! Can't wait to try it.
Short, sweet , smart and it worked like a charm for me, thank you
This is the best, fastest and easiest one I ever saw. Thanks a BILLION!!!
Very interesting. I would never have thought of doing that. Quick and easy.
Jody, you are a smart and thoughtful man. Thank you!
Thanks for all your lil trix of the trade, they’re super helpful
Brilliant, genius idea. I will use this. Thanks.
Great...I was looking for something to joint long boards. Thank You very much
Simplicity at its best...thank you
That was brilliant. I've never seen this method before and will definitely use it
Wow, such an easy solution for great results~! I've been woodworking for over 30 years and this is the first I've seen this technique. Thanks for sharing this~!!
Best idea on the internet for joining on a table saw. Used it today and it worked perfectly. U da man!
Now that makes a lot of sense! I've got a small Cutting Board project today that I'll use this technique on, thanks.
Excellent fix and great straight to the point video
