Thanks again, Paul! . . . This reminds me of a conversation we had regarding "seeing like a child would" in all freshness and innocence, without our adult preconceptions; seeing the simplicities of value shapes as abstract as they are, without assigning object terms for them. Our entire "thought world" is based on language terms for objects and ideas . . . yet that's not true for a toddler who has yet to learn their alphabet. That open and innocent mind sees light and dark, color hues and chroma, without the generalized language terminology. Thinking along those lines, the "toddler painter" would communicate by a literal expression of Boston School fundamentals. Understanding that simplicity is necessarily humbling to the sometimes high minded "fine artist" . . . to produce their best work.
Thank you. How wonderful to have these important ideas articulated. These are things which many of us see, and feel the importance of, but have difficulty describing. What insight.
I keep trying to watch your stuff... but you seem to talk and talk and talk and in the end, say so very little. I would like to see you make a clear and concise point on something,.. anything.
