Hope you love Fury as much as we do, Mike! So glad you finally got sent the physical copy. You’re a champion in the Gwynne Warband and we appreciate you 🫡 Ed
Excellent acquisition! Century Trilogy is amazing. They were good being read back to back to back. Jealous of the special editions, but stoked for you, man. 🤘
I read Hood and its two sequels years ago. I remember really enjoying it at the time and am planning to re-read it next year. The Cabin at the End of the World is the inspiration for Knock at the Cabin. Great haul, Mike!! Happy reading!
I got lucky and managed to snag that set of The Dandelion Dynasty when they went on sale, they are a thing of beauty ! I've just finished the first book and it was amazing , I think you will enjoy it 😊
Tim Powers is great, The Anubis Gates is probably my second-favourite of his, number one is Declare, but all the books of his I've read have been very good.
Lets.......get ittttttt. Book haul timeeee Book hauls are always amazing. Thanks Mike! :) Side note: I watched the shining and Doctor Sleep back to back this past weekend, and holy smokes, man....I need to read the book! Haha -JRoot
I bought all three Chronicles of Hanuvar books because the covers are so great. They give me Conan vibes. I'm glad I did now that I heard about the sad news.
Hi Mike. I know lighting is something you’ve struggled with and never quite felt like you get it right. I just wanted to say the lighting in this video is on point and by far the best it has ever been. Congrats on finally cracking the code! Ps, I got those Ken Follett books recently too. Absolutely stunning and look great next to Kingsbridge!
I went out and got "we are the dead" Then halfway through book one ordered the rest of the trilogy. Im in between those and started comanche moon yesterday! I love Larry Mcmurtry's writing. 😁
«Dandelion Dynasty»! ❤ So envious on you having your «The Fury of the Gods» Copy already, very excited to get my pre-order in about a month! I definitely have «Chronicles of Hanuvar» on my 2025 MBR List, thoughts and prayers to HAJ and his loved ones! 😔 In September I bought «Navola» by Paolo Bacigalupi (Fantasy inspired by Renaissance Italy) and «The Blood Dimmed Tide» by Stephen Aryan (The Nightingale & The Falcon #2, Historical Fantasy inspired by the Mongol Conquest of Persia) for my 2025 Spring TBR, as well as my digital Indie preorder of «Dreamer, Awake!» by Liam Hall («Liam’s Lyceum», Post-Apocalyptic Cyberpunk/S&S(?😅))! I also bought the Bernie Wrightson-illustrated «Frankenstein» and «The Secret History» by Donna Tartt as gifts to a good friend I am planning to visit abroad: Illustrated Gothic Horror and Dark Academia is right up my friend's alley!
I'm currently reading Fall Of Giants! I'm thoroughly enjoying it, Mr Follett seems to have a way of making all his characters and situations so interesting. I'm not even a third of the way through yet but I'm already thinking that this is just as good as Pillars Of The Earth, Follett just does Historical Fiction so well.
Even though they say not to judge a book by its cover, I can't help but be drawn to the beautifully designed covers. Some of those books look fantastic - especially Children of Dune. Not going to talk about their pricing but damn does Folio Society create beautiful books.
So jealous of your Devils ARC and those Broken Binding specials! So sad about Howard Andrew Jones, but my friends who are big fans of the current series say that the recent release wraps up an arc and is actually a satisfactory place to leave things. I’m definitely intrigued to try some of his modern sword and sorcery!
that Dandelion Dynasty set is gorgeous. I think you would dig the series. I gave it up halfway through the third book, but I might give it another attempt. The Grace of Kings was my favorite book last year
I read the Hood trilogy a decade or so ago. Good take on Robin Hood, tries to take the approach of what if the legends were based in real history. I had a good time with it.
The chronicles of Hanuvar really is my favorite fantasy series that started in the 2020s. I do think it would’ve solidified itself on the all-time list of top fantasy series if Howard had the opportunity to finish it. I hope you enjoy it.
So sad to hear about Howard Andrew Jones, haven't heard of him before so went to Amazon and found a lot of books by him. That book you have is sword and sorcery which I love. Pray that he can somehow be cured.
I just hauled The Ballad of Perilous Grave, Tempest, Twisted Sword ( 11th book in a series so I'll have to buy the first ten), The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O, and three Digital orders: The Omen, We Are the Dead, and Blackwater.
If you like Robin Hood, nothing is better than Outlaw by Angus Donald! He used the Warlord Chronicles as a template, instead of Arthur you get Robin, instead of Derfal you get Alan Hale! It is so much fun & the best popcorn read! It is a series but I just read the first one as a stand-alone , it is 😘. Relating to the Hanuvar Chronicles, I am told book 3 the Smoking Mountain wraps the arc of the story, so you will get an ending. I have been loving these books, it has a Witcher short story feel to it as well as the Odyssey!
I was going to ask how you keep your multitude of purchases, do you get rid of some books? What do you do to choose which to keep and which to get rid of?
I definitely liked Yumi much better but Sunlit Man probably should be read after Wind and Truth to enjoy it fully, so that will be getting a reread now that I've forgotten everything :D
Hopefully you enjoy Cabin at the End of the World more than I did. Sadly, it was one of those rare instances of a totally dismal read for me. Tastes do vary of course, and while we align on many books and authors maybe we'll split on this one, lol!
Dandelion dynasty is very malazan esque starting out. Lots of names, places, random plot lines etc. From my experience about halfway through book 1 anyway.
"This makes the Political machinations of ASOIAF look cute!" This is what I was saying to Myself by the end of the second book of 'The Dandelion Dynasty' and having finished the series I can say it's doubly true for Me at least and ASOIAF is One of My Favorite Works of Fiction !
Wondering If Mike got a copy of the Empire of Silence (Diamond Edition) Mine just arrived and I lovvvvve it. I'll probably get the answer by the end of this video!
Sooo weird a few months ago I ordered Don Quixote and Shogun (2 chunkers) from Blackwell and the packaging was ripped open only contained Don Q and it was damaged, contacted them they refunded $5 for damages and express sent another Shogun!!
My most recent acquisition is the Black Box of Doom by Jason Pargin, Author of John Dies at the End. Currently reading the warrior prophet About8 chapters in Also working on the 1st of the monster hunter series Monster hunter international
For a Supernatural fantasy book concerning the great war in heaven and setting of Preflood Earth, where can we send you a complimentary copy for a future review. Also Dor Vahdor Volume I, is on Audible (free if u have an account.) If u review and want a follow on interview for a deep dive, let us know. Great vid and roll up.
You and I have very similar book tastes so I doubt Yumi hits for you, I DNFd it and read all the cosmere implications on the 17th shard. but the sunlit man was excellent
Mike, did you recently delete some old live streams/Saturday Night Knights? I was looking for the one with you, Ruocchio, Durfee, and Madison to put on in the background while playing Elden Ring, but can no longer find it. That’s a bummer if so, I rewatch your long form content all the time when playing games & absolutely loved that group of 4 you had for that video!
Self pub horror is one of those things that is either/or. Either it’s terrifying and it keeps you awake for weeks, Or it’s so laughably stupid you can’t take it seriously. Either it’s written with grace and is thoroughly intriguing, Or you’re bored to tears in mere sentences. Either it’s emotionally compelling and leaves you breathless with a racing heart, Or it’s almost nonsensical garbage a kindergartner could have scribbled out. The middle ground isn’t really there, but finding out if it’s mold or gold is actually so much fun
Paul Trembly has just not worked for me. I read Cabin and Pallbearers Club. They are okay but I have not been in a hurry to read anything else. Thought the movie of Cabin was better than the book.
I may or may not agree with you to some degree, but ultimately I think it was a calculated risk by villeneuve after no one watched blade runner 2049. He probably thought, if a ton of people of all ages don’t go out and see this, what’s even the point at the end of the day? I think ultimately the casting works because villeneuve is such a tender and loving director, with a very high emotional intelligence; he could direct a brick into giving a tear wrenching performance. I’m just glad they let a real film director make the movie, I’m so grateful for that
They didn’t let real film directors make Rings of Power; just Day Players - tv directors, and pretty unremarkable tv directors at that. When you don’t have a real filmmaker at the helm, the casting doesn’t even matter, it’s failed from the start
Hope you love Fury as much as we do, Mike! So glad you finally got sent the physical copy. You’re a champion in the Gwynne Warband and we appreciate you 🫡
Ed
I have no doubts!
I grabbed all the Sun Eater books for my September. I’m on Queen Amid ashes now. I’m in love with this series.
Loved that novella, I'm on the last short story in tales of the sun eater vol 1. Before jumping into demon in white
@@acidunicorn1225 I wish I could find those in hard copy.
@brandon8667 I believe they are only available as ebooks atm. Pretty sure ruocchio mentioned there would be some sort of physical edition at somepoint
So glad you're liking it!
What a haul. Just lovely!
Some quite lovely stuff there
I love how much you appreciate the importance of a good cover.
There's a lot of power in a good cover
Great haul Mike...those midnight editions of the Dandelion Dynasty look exquisite
They're amazing!
Wow that midnight edition is stunning!
Indeed!
That Ken Follet trilogy is outstanding I read them all back to back couldn’t even contemplate reading anything in between.
He's fantastic.
Thanks so much for the shoutout of my (debut) novel! Appreciate all you do to support the indies!
My pleasure! Thanks for sending it.
Dandelion Dynasty was on my radar and I too could not resist ordering the Midnight edition. Guess I’ll be reading those soon!
I'll definitely be trying Grace of Kings next year.
Excellent acquisition! Century Trilogy is amazing. They were good being read back to back to back. Jealous of the special editions, but stoked for you, man. 🤘
Exciting!
I read Hood and its two sequels years ago. I remember really enjoying it at the time and am planning to re-read it next year.
The Cabin at the End of the World is the inspiration for Knock at the Cabin.
Great haul, Mike!! Happy reading!
I thought so! Still haven't watched the movie.
Brandon had said that The Sunlit Man is designed to be read before Wind and Truth. Yumi can be read whenever.
Oops.
Yeah those grace of kings is on point! Can't wait to start that
Same
I got lucky and managed to snag that set of The Dandelion Dynasty when they went on sale, they are a thing of beauty !
I've just finished the first book and it was amazing , I think you will enjoy it 😊
Looking forward to it!
Dandelion Dynasty! Only 2 books in but it’s unreal
I'm excited
SQ McGrath is legit and The Women in the Woods is my favourite! Excited to hear your thoughts on that if you talk about it here 😊
Awesome to hear!
Tim Powers is great, The Anubis Gates is probably my second-favourite of his, number one is Declare, but all the books of his I've read have been very good.
Ruocchio can't say enough about him
I read the Century Trilogy in paperback and purchased the hardbacks for the shelf and the inevitable re-read.
Sounds great!
Lets.......get ittttttt. Book haul timeeee
Book hauls are always amazing. Thanks Mike! :)
Side note: I watched the shining and Doctor Sleep back to back this past weekend, and holy smokes, man....I need to read the book! Haha

Thanks for watching!
I bought all three Chronicles of Hanuvar books because the covers are so great. They give me Conan vibes. I'm glad I did now that I heard about the sad news.
Very Conanesque
Ken Follett is one of my top ten authors, and I LOVE The Century trilogy!
I trust him.
Turns out the secret wasn't the lighting. It was giving up on ever understanding my expensive Canon camera and just using my iPhone.
I went out and got "we are the dead" Then halfway through book one ordered the rest of the trilogy. Im in between those and started comanche moon yesterday! I love Larry Mcmurtry's writing. 😁
Going to be doing the McMurtry prequels next year. Can't wait.
Mike, thanks for the mention and what a great book haul! Happy Spooky Season! (as I go get The Hollow Places based on The Willows reference)
My pleasure! Thanks for sending them!

I am so grateful for the mentions! I enjoy your content. Happy spooky season! 🖤🖤
Thanks a ton for sending them!
I highly recommend Sarum by Ken Follett, too.
I'm sure there will come a time I read anything by him.
I believe the bright sword is an Arthurian retelling
That is correct
Even though they say not to judge a book by its cover, I can't help but be drawn to the beautifully designed covers. Some of those books look fantastic - especially Children of Dune. Not going to talk about their pricing but damn does Folio Society create beautiful books.
Yeah, they aren't cheap. Shipping to the States is insane, too.

Yeah, it's a shame.
Reading the darkness that comes before right now!
Hope you like it!
Picked up dandelion dynasty a few months back. Just haven’t gotten to it. Gonna start when you do now 😂😂
So sad to hear about Howard Andrew Jones, haven't heard of him before so went to Amazon and found a lot of books by him. That book you have is sword and sorcery which I love. Pray that he can somehow be cured.
If only.
The Vermin Sleep might be the one book missing from your fall/winter 2024 TBR! 🐀🔨🩸💀

Blackwater is so good

I was going to ask how you keep your multitude of purchases, do you get rid of some books? What do you do to choose which to keep and which to get rid of?
If I know the chance it high I'll never get to it I donate it.
I preferred yumi to the sunlight man. It could go either way for you.
Interesting
I definitely liked Yumi much better but Sunlit Man probably should be read after Wind and Truth to enjoy it fully, so that will be getting a reread now that I've forgotten everything :D
AFTER Wind & Truth?
Read the author bio for Shantaram. It's wild!
I'll have to look that up!
Shantaram is a very good book.
I think I saw it is a TV series, too
Hopefully you enjoy Cabin at the End of the World more than I did.
That's what I've heard. Will certainly finish Prince of Nothing before jumping into a story that big.
"This makes the Political machinations of ASOIAF look cute!"
This is what I was saying to Myself by the end of the second book of 'The Dandelion Dynasty' and having finished the series I can say it's doubly true for Me at least and ASOIAF is One of My Favorite Works of Fiction !
Dang!
I’ve got Eye of the Needle by Ken Follet sitting on my TBR stack. That one is only just over 300 pages! 😂
That's a prologue for Follett
Wondering If Mike got a copy of the Empire of Silence (Diamond Edition) Mine just arrived and I lovvvvve it. I'll probably get the answer by the end of this video!
Nope. Christopher hates me.
Starting A Canticle for Leibowitz this month.
Enjoy!
If you're hoping for pirates fighting lovecraftian beasts you might be disappointed haha Gunmetal Gods is a very good book though!
I'm open for whatever
Sunlit Man > Yumi in my opinion. Fun, action packed read that ties into Stormlight.
Seems most are saying that.
Sooo weird a few months ago I ordered Don Quixote and Shogun (2 chunkers) from Blackwell and the packaging was ripped open only contained Don Q and it was damaged, contacted them they refunded $5 for damages and express sent another Shogun!!
I've had good experiences with their customer service dept
I... don't remember what I got in September. I'm running out of space for books and have a small room I need to slow down maybe.
I've been telling myself that for years
My most recent acquisition is the Black Box of Doom by Jason Pargin, Author of John Dies at the End. Currently reading the warrior prophet About8 chapters in Also working on the 1st of the monster hunter series Monster hunter international
Starting Warrior Prophet later this week!

Gunmetal Gods is not only an excellent read, the sequels are as good or better. One (maybe two) left to wrap the series.

Yeah, a lot of the old 3+ hour vids not getting any traction anymore got removed.
Where did you get your Tshirt?
Saw it at the local mall at a Games Workshop
Top 10 unfinished books… ie Winds of Winter
That would be one
What are the chances that Dandelion Dynasty makes it into the TBR soon? Haha
Already got a plan for book 1 next year
@@mikesbookreviews Awesome, I’ll probably wait and join you then.
With saleh getting fired-I’m in a tailspin. I don’t even know what day it is
Weird that a 2-3 start was the breaking point. I mean, why even bring him back if the seat was that hot?
@@mikesbookreviews I feel the same way. I believe in ulbrich but the outlook historically is not great.
Dune sequel rereads and reviews?
Gunmetal Gods, the first book is very good, but the second and third did not meet my expectations!

Hmm. I liked Head Full of Ghosts. Hoping for the best.
I've been waiting on the waitlist for a year, it's pretty annoying
