That is an incredibly great idea putting Saran wrap on the inside of your tank as not to scratch it I think I'm going to do the same thing when I get my 125
Do you by chance still have the measurements for your wood been really struggling trying to build a stand for my 125 and I really like how you did yours #goals
Not only is your tank awesome, but this was a great video. You really explained everything and didn’t leave me with any questions. I watch a lot of UA-cam and you are killing it with your tank and video!
Great to see another in the hobby. Leave your lights completely off for the next few weeks and add some bacteria (microbacter7 or other) to quick cycle your tank. I have the 220g version of the same tank and I love your hood. I would make one but I have my lights suspended from the ceiling.
I know its been a while, but I have those gas strut assist things on my tonneau cover. When one failed, it leaked oil all in the bed of my truck. Not sure if I'd want them over my marine aquarium. Great looking build though, you did an awesome job.
Oh wow! I just stumbled on this video! I saw the drawing and was like... wait a minute! I’ve seen that on Reef2reef lol!! Congratulations on the build! Looks great man!
Everything looks amazing. I would caution the use of gas shocks. I had gas shock on my toolbox and they failed after several years. When they failed, they leaked a lot of oil into the top of my box. Just so you are aware. If your shocks have oil in them. They could fail and the oil would go right into your tank. Possibly crashing it.
Great job, Justin! Everything's looking amazing! You definitely took a lot of time and did a lot of research and it shows. Can't wait to see the fish and coral!
Little advice These lights work great ran a SPS tank in a 125 at 80% blue 10% white , But i would add a T5HO with 2 actinics if it were me and your going big boy corals (SPS ACROS)
@@BottomlandOutdoors oddyseas with 2x 54w actinics on amazon or ebay if your trying stay on budget . u should be able to get a 4pk of blue actinics from topdog sellers for about 30$
Great job, the only things I would not have done was gone with the chinese made lights (reef tanks require quality even though its costly). Also I would have kept the lights off during cycling. Everything else I would give an A+.
Just found your channel your tank stand and canopy motivated me to build a new stand and canopy of course with a bigger tank what did you say you used for the outside of the tank the wood theme?
Excellent job, an excellent video. You gave me a lot of ideas for my 125gallon tank. Is there a email address I can have to reach you at because I have questions about doing a sump. Great job J
Very nice job on that tank chief. I love the setup. Quick question on the door opening on the stand. Is that railed or just hinged in the middle? Also what did you use for base on the aqua scape. Please advise.
I have the exact same tank. Help me with your drain design. I have durso in mine. I seem to get quite a bit of air in the drains. Like yours I have one long run and one that is straight down
@@BottomlandOutdoors Good job on the hood. Very intuitive touch on the mesh on the back(wish I would've thought of that, mandarin goby jumped out and found the little guy 6 months later just before I moved out of my apt into my first house) I had a similar setup on a 45 gal 20 yrs ago. My hinges were on the back side about 9 inches from the rim. I used piano hinges and some plastic paneling to shield from salt spray and about 2 yrs later, salt spray from who the hell knows where, corroded the electroplating and rusted the hinges. Also I used oak, birch, and cedar...sadly the wood eventually warped. Next time I'm thinking of using deck composite and plastic marine hinges. beckson.com/hga.html
Tha Silent One well I have both of my return pumps turned all the way up and it handles the flow.. so I guess I’m at about 600 or less.. Which I was shooting for about 600
Awesome build I’m planning on getting the same tank. Is there anyway to buy the aqueon 125 gallon by itself? I only seen the one on sale at petsmart for $500 that comes as a stand/ tank combo.
Scott C. Well depends on what tank and equipment. My lights are cheap some people pay $1500 just for lights and a few hundred for sumps I used a 29 gallon from petco the cost me $29 dollars.. this is just one example. My wave maker is a knock off nero 5 I got it for $120 where the real deal cost $350.. so I went the cheaper route which may give me headaches in the long run
Ya you're on the right page, because that's ironically what they told me also. They said you could go much cheaper but will have to upgrade later and will be a headache and a waste of money. It's hard to justify spending the money but I kind of have no choice. I build a new house and build the 125 gallon into the house. I would rather spend a couple grand then 6 grand then another couple of grand on coral and fish. I feel like eventually I will have a used car in my house lol. The 6 grand did include the computer monitored system with auto top off, and all the digital probes. Maybe I will make a video and share with you. I cant wait to get a peice of ocean in my house tho, the pay off is always awesome.
If you have a par meter or can rent one, you can adjust those lights to where you know what the par level is and can place certain coral according to the par. The spectrum on these will work fine if you lean mostly to the blue. Most people will get 2-3 years but for 1/4 or 1/5th the cost, you have to think the ecotech have to last you 8-12 years. Technology won't last that long.
I would really like to see how you built the canopy. Love that design for tank access and workability!
Love that website screen shot in the beginning! Awesome build! :)
@Sean Braylen wth 🤣🤣
I love the way you did the hood!
great build fella you should be proud of that piece of work.
Awesome! Very nice
Great job!!
Dude I've built 5 stands and hoods..and still look for tips and tricks...that combo looks awsome...hell of a job
Dam! Well done!! Keep the Curados out of there 👍🔥
Very cool and they fact that you hand built nearly everything is extremely impressive. Great job.
That is an incredibly great idea putting Saran wrap on the inside of your tank as not to scratch it I think I'm going to do the same thing when I get my 125
I love the stand and hood idea. Looks really easy to open and maintenance and yes the white wash look is beaches!

What time you coming round to make my aquarium canopy LOL fantastic keep up the good work

Awsome job my man 👍

Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing.
Wow. Great skills. Subscribed
Hey from the uk 🇬🇧 really like the way you have the scape laid out and I really like the way you have done the hood hope to see more of the tank soon

This is probably one of the best scapes I have ever seen. Nice Job sir!

Nice work on the scape, turned out great! Hood design is pretty cool too!
Man, the scape came out really good and your diy is off the chain man. Keep it up!
Man your house is looking Nice
Fishing Fantasy thanks man! I’m real happy with the way it turned out
Excellent workmanship and execution! New subbie for sure!
Awesome Justin 💥🎣

Very nice build man 👌🏻
SaltFishTV thanks!
Nice build. Perhaps someday I would do the same.
This is great! I just really wished you showed us how to build the canopy😩
Good for you man! Look forward to seeing it all done.
Could you describe more how did you build in the front panels for stand ?
That light drop hinge setup is ridiculous. I'm gonna do a canopy but didnt want the lights to be blasting my face. This is a great solution.
Nice job brov only one thing hope none of the screws or brackets rust ;) keep an eye on them just incase ;)
Great job, Justin! Everything's looking amazing! You definitely took a lot of time and did a lot of research and it shows. Can't wait to see the fish and coral!
Do you got a link to the paneling you used to cover it with that you got from lowes?
Here for the fishing rods 😅
Definitely should cover up the the black bracing, would complete the look.
Can you tell me what that Lowe's wood w/ vinyl decal is called or a link to it. I like the idea of that.

Do you have plans for your stand and hood
Where you get the rock? Awesome thanks
Nice set up! Those toggle bolts you’re using to hold your lights up will rust. I would source out something made of plastic.
Absolutely loved this video! I just put together a 125 reef too. But it’s not as nice😂
thats a bad ass looking tank! im a little curious about the hood.. isnt the evaporation gonna ruin those lights prematurely?
Great design , if you aren’t an engineer already you should be 😅
I really like that hood. Did you create the blueprint yourself or find it online. Just curious so I can build it
So after setting up with sand and rock , how many gallons of water did you need to fill it
Nice work. What is the actual size/dimension of your tank?
nice
What kind of actuators did you use for the hood?
Do you have a plan for the stand? I want to build a canopy and stand for my 75 gallon
I am trying so hard to find that plywood with the design on it (or any design) can’t find it anywhere
I would like to see the stand built
Did u have to support the floor where the tank is?
Concrete slab
where did you get the lava rock?
Great job, the only things I would not have done was gone with the chinese made lights (reef tanks require quality even though its costly). Also I would have kept the lights off during cycling. Everything else I would give an A+.
how did those lights work for you? would you buy them again?
also the stand looks awesome well done
Still running great! Corals don’t thrive under them but it will grow them slowly
Do you have any prints for your stand? I have a 125g dual corner overflow drilled and I would love to know how you built your stand.
Do you have a build video of the stand
Ficou muito bonito 😁
Do you have a video of the stand and canopy build?

Sweet set up man. Keen to see how you progress. Any issues with possible rust?
Jason Cruz rust where?
@@BottomlandOutdoors the hinges in the hood?
Jason Cruz well they are on the outside of hood and the hood is about 16 inches away from the surface

Watch out for doors that self close with strong springs. I didn't see a fish tank get damaged, but an LCD screen got screwed by the door knob.
What was the cost of the aqueon tank and is it a good brand?
I just picked up that same tank for 522 bucks, and a custom stand for it was 1200
FACTS 1in pipe flows at 600GPH from gravity

Kudos! Have you tried miracle.mud?
How much did the whole build out cost minus the tank, stand and canopy.
