@@highdashc8751one of the most underrated beats ever made...crazy thing is if you listen carefully u'll hear a quick note of it in the Arby's commercials...the "iiiiiii".. 🔥🔥🔥
This dropped in winter of 1988, 37 years ago. Special Ed, a native of Brooklyn NY was like a young man from the 21st century, who traveled back in time to drop this. Many young freestylers spit this way today, a rather talking simpler way of delivery. He was way ahead of his time. It's also another prime example of New York's extensive style and techniques.
Man, you be killin' me with your reactions! (That, "the closest thing I've ever come to potato alligator is cornbread statement," is freakin' hilarious!)✌️😎☠️💀
That's something I like about old school hip-hop... not much cursing, nwords, or bwords - just dope lyrics whether they be hardcore, party, street, reality, humorous, or alternative rap songs. Another dope song/video you should check out one is: Chubb Rock - Treat 'Em Right...
The best part is how he was bragging and this was his first single. No one had even heard of him yet.. He even did a few interviews from his bedroom that was smaller than some prison cells. He only had a twin bed and a turntable and was living with him mom. That's just how hip-hop has always been.. fake it til you make it.
Special Ed was one of the first teen rappers behind LL Cool J, Roxanne Shante, & Big Daddy Kane. This song was written when he was 15 years old and released a year later at 16.
Special Ed was the first incredible young rapper I remember. Way ahead of his time. One of my all time favorites, a freestyle genius. They way they are dressed, the dances, East Coast 88 all the way I was in 10 th grade. Salute young man.
That was me bro! I suggested Special Ed when I first saw and subscribed to your channel. I was one of your first 500 subscribers. You and I both are from Alabama. I was in middle school when he dropped this joint. NY rappers had the attention of young black kids all the way in ALABAMA. No internet. No social media. Just radio and BET! (Some MTV moments) This one track made Special Ed one of hip hop’s greatest lyricist. Listen to The Magnificent by Special Ed as well.
Check out Kriss Kross “Jump”. In 1992 these guys were 12 &13 years old when they released “Jump”. They wore their clothes backwards & popped up on the scene hard. However In 2013 the youngest Chris passed away @ 34 yo. I think you’ll enjoy these guys.
One of the most underrated lyricist in the history of hip-hop special ed was incredible and he can go off the top of the dome to 10 to 15 minutes. I’ve seen it with my own eyes very underrated rapper.
Crooklyn Dodgers (Crooklyn Soundtrack) [Special Ed, Masta Ace, & Buckshot rhyming, produced by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest]. Return Of The Crooklyn Dodgers (Clockers Soundtrack) [Chubb Rock, Jeru Tha Damaja, & O.C., rhyming, produced by DJ Premier of Gangstarr] keep up the great work fam congrats on 30K peace and blessings 💯!👊🏽🫡💯
What most people don't realize is that Special Ed at age 16 years old here was being 'sarcastic' in this song...and they used satire for the music video. He was making fun of himself...lol. For instance the song he's rapping about how much he "got it made' (as in being a success), however, he's in a junkyard surrounded by junk. That was one of the main points of the video. It was self-depreciating humor. His high level of sarcasm at the young age of 16, went over the heads of most people...lol
Man im a former a&r for nervous rec n tvt blunt also workrd on the original shook ones, signed many groups and i straight up love what u do. Would love to drop some jewels on u and connect u with some of these artist. All praises...keep going
At 7:15 the rhyme is similar to Rakin on "My melody" "...I'll take 7 MCs put 'em in a line, and add 7 more bros who think they can rhyme, well it'll take 7 more before I go for mine, now that's 21 MCs ate up at the same time"! Great reaction as always!!
Special Ed album was called the youngest in charge.. he was 16 yrs old. Wrote his own rapps Big difference from the way 16 year olds rap today.. Boogie u didn't catch this line.. "Think... Just blink ....an I make a million rhymes . Think about it.. if u blink a million times... Dam I be paid... I got it made.." Mature Thought provoking rap from a 16 year old.. ignorance got no recognition like it gets today.
He was all about the business side of everything. The record companies had a hard time trying to take his money and dripped him. He was more mature than most rappers and had some of the best rhymes.
❤ this one from Special Ed🎉 Taking me back, B. (A 504 plan is NOT special education; however, someone who receives Special Education/IEP support may also have a 504 plan.)
When you said "wait ain't that manslaughter?" I swear I came out the chair lol that was great. Whoever is requesting these are on my level. Im loving it.
We need some Boot camp cluck. Black moon who got the props, stiff and Wesson sound boi burial, heltah sketch operation lock down and Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka
I'm surprised that you haven't listened to Self Destruction - Stop The Violence Movement or Going Way Back - Just Ice. It's beautiful seeing the younger generation appreciate the creativity and dexterity of the Golden Era of Hip Hop. Every artist had their own swag and neither sounded the same.
I love this record. It's a classic, no doubt. But Special Ed was a one hit wonder. Also, this is another example of why this era 1986-1993 was the greatest, because every MC sounded different and had an unique flow.
Here we go young man! One of the reasons I listen and subscribe to your channel is because I’m old school hip-hop. I’m currently 64 years old, but I’ve been listening and in this game since I was 19. This is a video you will never ever forget And it’s called, “fat cats and big fish“ by the coup. I guarantee is one of the best songs and videos you will ever see in your entire life, if not hit me back. I got more! Love what you’re doing and how you doing it.
I think I was the one who requested it....yo I enjoy watching you react to real hip hop bro...keep doin you. Oh yeah! You gotta check out ONYX "THROW YA GUNZ"
