One suggestion...thicken milk and sugar first then only add the strawberry puree. Some places it's very sour so the milk .ay split

You had the heat on too high. Make sure it's whole milk you're using and not cream.
Thicken milk and sugar with conflour then after cooling down add strawberry purée
