Koloss (2012)
LYRICS:
Writhing and embraced
Retribution. Soul eclipse turns solid
Energized. Sucking vomit acting like its honey
Deprived of I
Falling while thrusting squares through circles
Serving one single new dimension
Terror rising. Agnostics nemesis. A prophet of extinction
I scorch the skies before your very eyes
My deliverance - enslavement labelled: love
Just trust this nemesis to sign and seal extinction
This tune makes me feel so manly I want to cut the grass on my block, help the elderly to the other side of the street and donate clothes and toys to orphans.
I mean, that's pretty damn manly..

That's the best comment ever lol
This song is like putting all your dishes in a washing machine but when it stops the table it set and ready to go.
I can't get enough of this track.
Meshuggah is literally "your favorite band's favorite band"
Quite literally in my case lol

+Bradley Kerr how can you not right!!! \../_(◣_◢)_\../
I listen Meshuggah and Fear Factory since I was 8. Now I have 28 and I'm a normal person ( kind of) I swear.
The best thing about this album was how the wannabe Djent bands sat down and shut up at the sheer awe of it all.
Now I love djent in general, but Meshuggah is the absolute king of it, not surprisingly. Hell, even thall bands arent even close to being as heavy as them
EggCore The Acacia Strain was the only band that paid respect to these dudes, took some of their sound but made it their own. They suck now though.
@@CableReadyTechnoSIut tas are better now imo. I don't see the comparison tho
EggCore The Dead Walk through Wormwood (especially Wormwood) TAS used to get shit on by the “cultured” metal heads for being a Meshuggah rip off band. Not weird to compare the two, used to happen a lot.
They have a different sound now, it’s fine if you like doom funeral emo metal but it’s not for me.
If you think Unabomber off Wormwood doesn’t sound like Meshuggah I think you’re just being disingenuous lol
Meshuggah is the only djent band that matters
The only thing that can get heavier than Meshuggah is another song from Meshuggah
You should check out a band called imperial triumphant
I am just checking in 4 years later to confirm that this is still true.
Or combining two of their heaviest songs in a form of mash up sort of thing
Every Meshuggah song is heavier than every other Meshuggah song!!!
@@BLCK_MTAL😅😅
Is it just me or is this song oddly relaxing?
like you can relax to it at the same time you can break your neck from headbanging
Nah man, I mean in the way that I used this song as a lullaby for a bit. A fair bit, like a week or so. I couldn't relax to very many songs but this cut it.
Maybe it's just me.
no i get it but yea pretty awesome lullaby XD
4:11 onwards definitely puts you into a trance with the repetition.
tried Lethargica?

Best comment on a Meshuggah video thus far!

That's the soul opening up. It only sounds like a black hole.
This song feels the point point in an lsd trip where you feel like you’re losing your mind but you pull it together and charge forward.
Feels great
Especially with the enlightenment I give myself with each trip, reflection and guilt are tools to build ourselves into the greatest version
This is on repeat 24/7 when I'm hitting chest at the gym
Personally it’s a deadlift song, but that’s splitting hairs.
Meshuggha can be thanked for their contribution to science. That black hole recently photoed was because of them when they where rehersing

i've always said heavy metal is the music of kings. men.
I've always found Meshuggah's music very zen -like yet so damn heavy and groovy. One of my favorite bands of all time !
2:26 That drop is heavier than a black hole.
This comment encapsulates the song greatly. When I listen to it, it feels like i'm drifting, almost falling into the nether. One foot in the door the other off a cliff
@@afkra5923 there is something very meditative about the groove.
Consural I’m still trying to get out of it.
it is
BOOM!!!!!!
The part at 3:12 has to be my favourite. It's the culmination of all of the brutality that precedes it, as the song ascends into another dimension. Up until that part of the song, I imagine an omniscient being tormenting an agnostic man for eons; showing him the true nature of the universe. The man can no longer handle it as he finally breaks free at 3:13 and ascends to heaven momentarily, only to come back crashing into an abyss. This change happens with the cataclysmic riff at 3:34. It then dawns on the man that his torment is eternal; his brief escape was merely the demiurge toying with him, in all its sinister glory.
terrifying concept, fits Meshuggah perfectly
Listened several times carefully but feels way too subtle for rise and fall. But it's nice to see you, I just knew we overlap with you guys in "enjoying" Meshuggah.

Seen these guys live 8 times!! They are as good live as heard in studios! If you get a chance to see Meshuggah dont miss out their fucking awesome!!
looooooool i'd kill to go to a meshuggah concert, and you've been already 8 times? im sure you've had great times
acrid placidity same! iv never been, im way too young
the thing is, i live in bulgaria, which is a really small country and very few people appreciate meshuggah's music, therefore they won't make much of a profit by coming here. im wondering, if they have even heard of us lol. anyways good luck in growing up and getting to one of their shows :P
tnx
what's the concert count up to these days?
Thats solid. I am not quite sure how I get here from searching Aztec Dubstep but I am fine with that
The second I played this song I just grinned... and started headbanging uncontrollably...
2:26 Mind-melting
Look up the video where this song is slowed down. It's even more mind melting.
If it's Meshuggah, your mind's being destroyed by the power
Monolithic and malevolent, inexorable violence appears with that band. Meshuggah is like neutron stars colliding. It’s fuçking heavy, dense, complex, and full of energy. A true singularity in nowadays’ music. The cold machine of math and rhythm with inhuman voice. Those guys push their technics to the very last stand, to deliver what mechanics and algorithms could do. I always be amaze by this incredible band. 👌
Makes my brain nut
They are just a Down Tuned & dissonantly syncopated Ah Ha you mean. ⬛
meshuggah is far more dark in truth than any black metal band
@Ashton Robinson they sound heavy but not that dark
Hardly.
@Ashton Robinson IA is not dark, just edgy comedy lmao. Listen to Akhlys if you want to actually hear something mind-numbingly bleak.
No yeah you get it
Demons, who used to rise out of hell to posess souls and drive them to madness, have been aweful quiet since this dropped

*points*
+Chris S. how much of a badass do you have to be to write these lyrics?
+aaron The Demon's name is Surveilance - has the best lyrics in this album in my opiion. The poetry level in Meshuggah's songs is right there on the ring with the brutal music they create. It can move you, it can shatter you and it can give you a religious epiphany even if you are an atheist...
Ninjalko Hattori woah! a religious epiphany?? I wouldn't take it that far!
Such a fucking powerful song in every damn aspect of it, it's astonishing. Say whatever you want about this neck-destroying track... to me, it's the heaviest and most badass song I've ever listened to. Just perfect
+Daniel Portugal you are right but i think it's a bit commercial song
come on dude, as soon as Meshuggah makes a song that isnt too polyrythmic you call it commercial??? its a good song
don't know what commercials you're watching lol
Just because a song is commercial doesn't mean it is bad. I think what Martin means by commercial is that the song is popular.
Meshuggah has songs that are much more popular than Demiurge. Yeah it lacks those tasty and complex polyrhythms that we're so used to, but the song is still heavy as fuck. I made that comment 11 months ago and I haven't changed my mind.

Breakfast music to start the day, so relaxing..
reading through the lyrics and coupling them with the name of the song, based on my knowledge of Gnosticism, I must say this is incredibly well researched. For example: the lyrics "enslavement labeled: love" is spot on to the nature of the Demiurge. Inverse of true reality, creation of the illusory.

DEMIURGE aka THE GREAT ARCHON / THE ARCHITECT in gnostic teachings
Yaldabaoth is his name
They are not Gnostics. They are Thelemic satanist agnostics. Haake sees Jesus Christ as the demiurge tyrant because he allowed this mess. Haake claims atheism but words suggest Thelema practice x Christian...trying to rid his mind of an evil God. Still haunted by past threats of damnation. Much like Maynard but less whiny about god.
@Ryan Paul yes they did. Gnostics themselves were not satanic but more or less these text were not accepted by the Catholic church with in itself was satanic. Some of the Gnostic text fit very well with biblical cannon. Some of them reject the old testament and Judaism completely and say Christ was sent by the most high to fix the creators mistakes, the demiuge creator is the enemy or the God of pain and greed in them. Thelema stoll the tyrant anti creator idea and the magic of dmt . They view the watchers, ufos, egytion gods of old ,Lucifer, azeil, horus all through dmt trips as good beings . The triangle symbol is actually on a secret aircraft we have called a tr3b. It was the thing over phoenix lights and in Belgium, randlesham. The craft is a flying triangle silent ufo like with an eye in the middle and these are found on the craft exterior , crop circles pyramids. All these things tie into eacholther and many ppl on dmt see these things in depths. The rabbit hole goes deep
in one Gnostic text.
@Ryan Paul they are still satanic because they forced a false Christ on the land . Death metal bands are very in tune to the deception of the church. They turn to Thelema because it's the other option next to religions. We believe all religon is satanic and belive only a personal realship with Christ is different . We reject Christianity structures . Christianity is not really what Christ taught it's just the opposite. They killed and oppressed in his name. Jesus Christ himself said ....lay down and die before raising the sword. He was also anti money, anti capitalist, anti materialism. All the things that make American gosple is really either mind control or a social club to see who has the best suit. None of these church buildings are spirutual. They are spiritually dead. The spirutual awake freak ppl out. We are insane and to far out of structure to have much dialog.
@Ryan Paul that's the most metal name I've ever seen.
Killer track, headbanging till head falls off!
