I run a baby day care & a smart little boy who at about 16 months old, calls them aBoDeets. I love that! For me, elephants will forever be aBoDeets! btw: the 'mud pack' also keeps flies & mosquitoes from biting, plus acts as a sunscreen to keep the sun from burning their skin.

they are fucking hideous, what's wrong with your eye sight anyway....why do elephants have to put mud on their body's? gazelles, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, impala's, etc don't have fur either... they are dirty and like to refresh this way , they could use clean water , then again they stink. they are murderous monsters.

Yes... They are caught in a cloud of sand that must cause them breathing problems. However, their trunk filters the air and becomes more breathable, I think!
How can they drink that? I mean I know that for them it's not really that dirty, but they must take in a awful lot of mud, grit and that kind of thing, and yeh, I have seen them trying to drink some really polluted shit, with yeh, shit in it Lol Lot's of other waste from various creatures. It's no wonder they go nuts when they get the first drink of the rainy season. It must feel like pure heaven for them. And it's really lovely to see them rolling about with pure joy and spraying it all over! Maybe for them It's worth the wait, and the filthy stuff they have to put up with while they wait. And all I have to do is go to my kitchen and turn on the tap, and voila! Cool clear, clean water! Thank you God and Veola water company! Lol
lily\\\\\ the water ponds are polluted by them when they urinate , shit and wash their stinky flabby bodies previously in them , afterwards leaving it all dirty for all the other fine and sublime animals thirsty and depending on those ponds for their survival....almost NO OTHER animals wash their dirty bodies in the same water that is intended for everyone to drink to survive...the only other brain dead animal that does that but in much worst and huge proportions are the ugly deadly hippos, leaving the fine crocs to bathe in these freaks of natures filthy bacteria filled ex pristine waters.

Everything is huge and thick with elephants - thick skin, thick eye lashes, thick impermeable eye membrane, etc. What I am bothered is that all purpose trunk - sniffing, eating, spraying mud and dust, drinking, breathing, etc, etc, etc!

Is something wrong with that baby? why isn’t they helping him ha? and where is his mother I know he wants to get up from all these big elephants just throwing dirt my goodness he struggling to get up! these animals suppose to help him but I guess there just as busy to see baby is in distress.
He wasn't trying to get up. He was just outsmarting the adults. They were doing all that work to cover themselves with a protective layer of dust (elephant talc, sunscreen and insect repellent). Baby says fooey on that I have a better way: just lay down and roll around and wiggle and have fun, while getting covered better than the adults. When they were leaving, baby got up just fine. Getting up and running are the first things a baby must learn. I'm with you though - I would've wanted to run over and give it a boost. So adorable.

Yes, they’re trunks are like hands to them. They have all these ligaments in them so it’s like two fingers scooping up things. Amazing.

Putting mud on their backs cools & creates a 'sunscreen' from sunburn & also helps limit flies & mosquito bites.
OMG, this kid is having a hard time standing up.
Sometimes, some little ones do not become as skilled as their brother and sister.
Some of these babies are not very old. That's why they are not to good at standing yet some may old be a day or week old. Very cute to watch.
The whole world is new & gravity is some tricky stuff in a giant mud puddle!!
