Hey guys, hope you enjoyed this weeks episode! Don't forget to let us know by commenting below what you love about MSA 4x4 products, or how you think they would change your outdoor adventures, for your chance to win one of 3 MSA caps we're giving away 👏
When we set up our new Hilux our MSA drop down fridge slide was a no brainer. Made it easier for the wife to get to her CC’s(Canadian Club). Safe Travels. P.S Hope the Loctite worked👍👍👍
We are brand new "green" grey nomads...😅 after we purchased our caravan n vehicle this is the first thing we had done.. more for an educational purpose to understand if we were weight compliant... All good & the print out of the weight distribution provided peace of mind & showed us where to store more weight when travelling to even our loads.. highly recommend every new nomad /travelers get this done. Another good tip on the day was also checking on a three monthly basis the auto stop breakaway lead from the caravan. pull it out where mounted on caravan to ensure it's working and the van lights come on and the battery is full of power. battery life up to 3 years we believe.. one thing that's still puzzling us is where we should be attaching the lead.. directly on the car or to the towbar itself.. any help would be appreciated. cheers... awesome video
Hi Ecka, thank you 👍😊 the best advice would be to speak with the manufacturer or sales Centre of your van. Here is a link to an article that may also be helpful - magazine.rvdaily.com.au/rv-daily-issue-047/guide-breakaway-brakes-part-1
I hope you cover the front Anderson plug when you're on the move, otherwise with it facing forward you're likely to find it full of dead bugs and dirt.
We have had the MSA set covers on our car seats for over 7 years and they are just awesome - especially with kids and all their accidental spills. We took them off not long ago to give them their first wash and were curious how many spills had seeped through to the seats - absolutely zero and the seats looks brand new!! Massively impressed with the MSA gear!!
Weight is definitely something we have to look out. Insurance won't cover if we overweight the limited weight. Thanks for the awesome ep and happy birthday to Jasper 🎂
We lived in Darwin for 7 years and actually there when it was completed, never heard so much as a whisper about the Japanese sculpture. Thanks for sharing, it’s now on our ‘must do’ list for when we return.
Hi Daryl, it’s fascinating to us that no one really knows about it and it’s not widely publicised. Definitely worth seeing though, such incredible workmanship and what a story!
Another great episode guys, can't get enough of Jasper. My drop down fridge slide made life so much easier, I don't have to stand on a a stool and half open the fridge to see into it. Put the MSA mirrors on my Hilux last year ,best thing ever. I would forget to attach my screw on mirrors until i started to drive off then pull over and attach them ,not now just slide them out and turn them down, to easy.
MSA 4 x4 accessories improve the lifestyle of your experience on the road, to pull out draws for your fridge to pull out to the back of the car compact organiser and much more … is brilliance and proven quality.
MSA towing mirrors look good. We also hope you put a cover on your Anderson plug on the front.. it will get bugs galore in there!! ❤️ watching your family and all the things jasper comes out with too!! 😁
@@TheFeelGoodFamily life has had its challenges and it’s ups and downs but we keep on going on foot after the other. We never give up and keep looking forward!!

I used to live in Darwin and Dundee beach is amazing as is Litchfield my favourite spot and Berry springs. I lived in Palmerston and loved the balmy nights and sunsets each night…. Not keen on the humidity without a pool! I miss the Territory… has the sandflies bitten you yet, my first year all my children and I were eaten alive
Fantastic guys , thanks so much for the info , we were pulled up randomly in Queensland and weighed on the side of the road , we had just filled up with water and fuel , we were 23 kgs over all ... we live permanently on the road .. It's scary stuff when we see some people's set up , but we don't get into conversation with weights with anyone too controversial... 😁 Enjoy your travels and you never know, we may share a camp fire one evening..
Hi Tony, so far all good - getting the vehicle towing level improved after the suspension and other truck gear upgrades has made a huge difference to how it ‘feels’ towing - future lessons would be to have a heavier vehicle and shorter/lighter van….
Thanks guys , great to see your back on the road 👏🏻 Have to admit thought you would be over , now you didn’t cheat Paul and leave a bit of room in the water tanks 😂😂 Safe travels
Another great episode, its been 26 years since I was in Darwin, can't wait to go back 😍 Oh Jasper my 2 favourite things swimming lessons & the dentist 😂😂
Would you be will to share your weights. I am surprised you are under weight on your vehicle. I was looking at buying a rugged but they don’t seem to have much payload capacity.
Am thinking we might go a light truck. Not as comfy as a regular car. But much better capacity for us with two kids and two dogs 😆. Thanks for your reply
Hi Guys. Great episode even if the weigh in was a bit short on substance. Was there a reason you didn't publish the figures? I did a quick calculation based on 3200 for the van and kerb weight of ute at 2075 and around 320 for ball weight. GCM of 5650 leaves 375 for everything. Guess of 320 for ball only leaves 55 for you 3 and the canopy and extras on the back. Obviously the guess is only that but interesting non-the-less. This point could have been driven home or maybe because there are lots of other sites that cover this, it wasn't a consideration. Keep up the fantastic content!
Not quite correct. Once the ball weight is added to the vehicle, you take it from the van for the purposes of the GCM calculation, you don’t count ball weight twice. The GCM is simply what the van weighs by itself unhitched plus what the vehicle weighs by itself unhitched. Yes, you include ball weight in your GVM calculation but once you do that, you remove that weight from the van for the purpose of the GCM calculation.
Thanks Anthony. I forgot about that. I have a heavy vehicle licence and I still can get confused. What hope do "unlicensed" trailer towers have. You buy a caravan and magically have all the knowledge required to tow it safely.
one thing that had a berring on the closing of fireworks jn queensland a woman was breast feeding a baby in a car in the main street and someone threw a piece of fireworks at the car and it went in the open window and landed between her and the baby causing massive burns to both mum and bub.
Hi guys, would love to know your weights if your happy to share them. Our new van arrives soon and we are trying to figure out the right tow vehicle for us to use and I ruled out the Hilux as I thought it only had around 5600kg gcm. Thanks Sam
Hi Guys, good segment on the weights of the car and the van. Something I had to learn very quickly after not realising all the extra information other than towing capacity. Would love to know how close to the gcm you were. The hilux is a great car but after buying a van I realised it has a low gcm compared to others. Also love the MSA towing mirrors. Fitted a set recently. So good. Cheers team.

Fantastic viewing. We were at Dundee in October 2019 and they were just starting the caravan park renos then. Safe travels.
They have done a great job! 👍
Thanks for the 'weighing' segment - very informative and interesting. Jasper is growing up and becoming quite the program host!
Unusual to be carried out on a public street

Hi Lynette, haha snap! Wasn’t Territory Day a great celebration!

Hi Louise, we have loved our time in the Top End, just so many places to explore and just so beautiful. Thankfully not too many sandflies either 🤞

Desmond is your vehicle comfortable we in new Zealand do not hear about darwin they say the markets are great in darwin whàts there beer like
Can I ask, did you have food and “drinks” in the van when you weighed it? Or just your stuff plus water in the tanks.
Hey guys, yes to full - all food, water (170l total - 2 x water tanks).
What is the temperature there no swimming in the beaches in darwin because of the crocs
Would you be will to share your weights. I am surprised you are under weight on your vehicle. I was looking at buying a rugged but they don’t seem to have much payload capacity.
The best advice from us is to definitely arrange suspension upgrades and if possible do this prior to registration. Al the best with your travels!
Am thinking we might go a light truck. Not as comfy as a regular car. But much better capacity for us with two kids and two dogs 😆. Thanks for your reply
Desmond frost do you guys buy a lot of food from the supermarket while you are travelling who does the shopping
Hi guys we would love some MSA towing mirrors but keep getting told they still don’t make them for our 2018 Mazda BT
Why?????
Hi Lynn, happy to ask the MSA team when we chat to them next and will let you know 😊
Thanks for that , I don’t think they make them we keep ringing them & they say they working on it ?
