    Bro thank you!! I've been playing this exact model for my church but have never been able to take the time to learn how to set my own sounds. You showed exactly the 2 sounds I use the most (piano and pad). THANK YOU!

    Thank you for your time. Great helpful video.
    Got this beauty 17 years ago, since then never change keyboards.It's such a beautiful instrument indeed. I learned though to be very very soft-touch with the buttons, they go pretty quick, also the overall handling when playing out which can damage the hardware and never plug it straight to the wall rather use a PC battery back up, about 50 bucks, the motif motherboard, sound quality, life of the instrument and your wallet will appreciate it.
    I learned the hard way.

    Dude, SO simple. What are your favorite pads in the ES8? I'm looking for pads like you hear in Hillsong, Bethel, etc... but a lot of these pads are really simple/old school. What's the best way to customize really good pad sounds? Samples? Layer/performance mode?

    • @socratic_music
      @socratic_music  10 років тому +1

      Thanks man! My favorite is one called "Analog". It's a great base for playing piano over and it doesn't go crazy. It's also very customizable with cutoff & resonance parameter knobs. "Simple Air" is also good.

    Hi, if I load a VOICE with sampled components, such as Organ Session, when I turn off the keyboard I cancel the samples causing the VOICE not to work? If I put this VOICE in a PERFORMANCE, do I only lose in real time volume controls (drowbars effect) or also the samples? So the solution is to put the usb stick in AUTOLOAD and always load the samples every time the keyboard is turned on? Thank you

    Socrates Perez Never knew that about the sliders & the "locking" mechanism... Such a needed feature to prevent values from jumping around lol. I only wonder about how it reacts when you STORE the sliders "all over the place" like you mentioned at 8:09... Does it lock at whatever random value as it does as maximum/minimum value??? And does this also apply to the S90es & the Motif 8 Classic? My S90es is the mail, & the Motif 8 Classic is on layaway lol

    • @bruin4937
      @bruin4937 10 років тому +1

      Yeah, that "locking feature" threw me for the longest time. I thought maybe I needed a new battery because my programs weren't being stored correctly - btw, the Motif ES has no battery like some old synths that had to be replaced periodically. Thanks, +Socrates Perez.

    • @socratic_music
      @socratic_music  10 років тому

      Not sure about the S90, but yes it'll lock in at any value that you set it to. Not just minimum and maximum. I've even used it to make one big mega-sound where it only has half of one synth and 75% or another blended together.

    Question! (Awesome tutorial by the way) I have the same keyboard, and I already set up my performance with the voices that I want and I got it saved so that if I turn the keyboard off it saves the performance how I left it. However, what bugs me is that every time I turn on my keyboard, it automatically opens on a different performance than the one I saved. It opens on the same performance every time. So every time I turn it on, I have to scroll to the performance that I made (which is the only one I use). It's VERY frustrating especially at church, because any time that some one who doesn't know how to use this keyboard turns it on, they expect to play and hear piano but instead that get some weird sounds. Then I have to get up and scroll to the right voice or performance. I imagine that there is a way that I can change the setting so that it opens on my performance when I turn on the keyboard automatically. How do I do that? Once again, awesome tutorial, hope to hear from you soon!

    Hi! Thank you so much for this video! I just used it to set up our keyboard at Road to Life Church. I do have a question though :)
    Is there any way that I can save multiple settings like this? Where I could have one layer option with certain sounds and another layer option with other sounds? And is there also a way that we can keep the new saved file we just made (from this video) but still go back to the normal and original home option (at the same time that the new layers were saved). Sorry if this is confusing!

      When you’re creating the sound, there is a “STORE” button you need to on the middle-right part of the keyboard. Then, find the “ENTER” button to confirm. It may also ask you to confirm again; if so, find the “YES” button. Hope it helps!
