Bro thank you!! I've been playing this exact model for my church but have never been able to take the time to learn how to set my own sounds. You showed exactly the 2 sounds I use the most (piano and pad). THANK YOU!
Bro....I've had my Motif since they came out. I've NEVER learned how to perform this task and you showed how t do it very simple and plain. I now can venture into a new creative mode by layering my sounds. Thank you VERY much!
Thank you for your time. Great helpful video. Got this beauty 17 years ago, since then never change keyboards. It's such a beautiful instrument indeed. I learned though to be very very soft-touch with the buttons, they go pretty quick, also the overall handling when playing out which can damage the hardware and never plug it straight to the wall rather use a PC battery back up, about 50 bucks, the motif motherboard, sound quality, life of the instrument and your wallet will appreciate it. I learned the hard way.
Damn dude wow. Just bought myself a used motif es8 and man I’m loving this thing . Had no idea what those knobs were for. Going to have some fun now thanks to you.
You just demystified this keyboard for me. I got plopped in front of one of these beasts at our second campus. Now I can bring a little bit more vibe. Thanks for teaching an old dog some new tricks. Blessings :)
This was a good lesson....I have been not doing this....and I have had my instrument for a couple of years......I really like to have a Horn on top with Piano accompaniment.and this will do the trick....great can't wait to try it right NOW!!!!
Perfect! I just bought a Motif ES and it's a lil' overwhelming. Your explanation was simple and to the point. Please post (or message me) some more tips if you have any... Jam On!
Thanks for the video bro. Been trying to get this for a while now. One thing though the Korg is so much easier to use and very much user friendly with the touch screen.
i agree im a korg user for more than 10 years. BECAUSE ITS EASY TO PROGRAM. BUT HONESTLY THE SOUNDS ARE BETTER ON THE MOTIF SPECIALLY ACOUSTIC SOUNDS. THATS Y I BOUGHT A USED ES6.
Thank you bro. Now I can unlock the potential of my motif! Have you got other mixes that’s perfect for worship music? Or was that the only one in your tutorial?
Wow, excellent video. I never knew how to layer sounds like that. Question, can you make a video on setting up a USER bank which stores sounds for a live gig? I use the favorits function. However, it is not efficient and I can't find what I am looking for in the es6 owners manual. Thanks for any help. Steve
Dude, SO simple. What are your favorite pads in the ES8? I'm looking for pads like you hear in Hillsong, Bethel, etc... but a lot of these pads are really simple/old school. What's the best way to customize really good pad sounds? Samples? Layer/performance mode?
Thanks man! My favorite is one called "Analog". It's a great base for playing piano over and it doesn't go crazy. It's also very customizable with cutoff & resonance parameter knobs. "Simple Air" is also good.
i have problems to use my Mc 707 with my new toy Yamaha Motif 7 , i only want to use the Motif as a soundmodule in 16 parts midi multitimbral setup, how to do this?
Hi, if I load a VOICE with sampled components, such as Organ Session, when I turn off the keyboard I cancel the samples causing the VOICE not to work? If I put this VOICE in a PERFORMANCE, do I only lose in real time volume controls (drowbars effect) or also the samples? So the solution is to put the usb stick in AUTOLOAD and always load the samples every time the keyboard is turned on? Thank you
Socrates Perez Never knew that about the sliders & the "locking" mechanism... Such a needed feature to prevent values from jumping around lol. I only wonder about how it reacts when you STORE the sliders "all over the place" like you mentioned at 8:09... Does it lock at whatever random value as it does as maximum/minimum value??? And does this also apply to the S90es & the Motif 8 Classic? My S90es is the mail, & the Motif 8 Classic is on layaway lol
Yeah, that "locking feature" threw me for the longest time. I thought maybe I needed a new battery because my programs weren't being stored correctly - btw, the Motif ES has no battery like some old synths that had to be replaced periodically. Thanks, +Socrates Perez.
Not sure about the S90, but yes it'll lock in at any value that you set it to. Not just minimum and maximum. I've even used it to make one big mega-sound where it only has half of one synth and 75% or another blended together.
Do you have any videos on how to sample using the es6? I am looking for directions on taking a piece from a CD and adding it to a single key on the Yamaha. Thanks Steve
Great video. Would you know how to assign an organ patch to an external controller with faders? I have the rack motif es and I would love to split up the four voices in an organ patch using my M Audio Radium 49 controller with faders.
Question! (Awesome tutorial by the way) I have the same keyboard, and I already set up my performance with the voices that I want and I got it saved so that if I turn the keyboard off it saves the performance how I left it. However, what bugs me is that every time I turn on my keyboard, it automatically opens on a different performance than the one I saved. It opens on the same performance every time. So every time I turn it on, I have to scroll to the performance that I made (which is the only one I use). It's VERY frustrating especially at church, because any time that some one who doesn't know how to use this keyboard turns it on, they expect to play and hear piano but instead that get some weird sounds. Then I have to get up and scroll to the right voice or performance. I imagine that there is a way that I can change the setting so that it opens on my performance when I turn on the keyboard automatically. How do I do that? Once again, awesome tutorial, hope to hear from you soon!
I tried to do this, I only made up to Initialized Performance. but after I try to press F2 for Voice, it doesnt let me. im stuck at this point. I did everything else correct. Why is this?
Hi! Thank you so much for this video! I just used it to set up our keyboard at Road to Life Church. I do have a question though :) Is there any way that I can save multiple settings like this? Where I could have one layer option with certain sounds and another layer option with other sounds? And is there also a way that we can keep the new saved file we just made (from this video) but still go back to the normal and original home option (at the same time that the new layers were saved). Sorry if this is confusing!
When you’re creating the sound, there is a “STORE” button you need to on the middle-right part of the keyboard. Then, find the “ENTER” button to confirm. It may also ask you to confirm again; if so, find the “YES” button. Hope it helps!
thx 4 the help. Is there a way to save more areas similar to saving a song or pattern mode where you can just create your own folder veresus performance mode that only has a certain number of layering. Thanks again - Andrew
I have the es 88 keys as my master keyboard and I have the es rack midi to it. I would like to have separate control on the 88's Knob Control Function section so I can change one sound module and and not have both sound modules affected. How can I separate the keyboard and the rack functions? thanks.
I literally just bought the Morif 6,it’s May 2024 and I absolutely love the sounds and quality of the keyboard
Congrats, I just bought the MO8, which is very similar. Power to the old synths.
Me too i bought the Motif ES8.. Yamaha MOTIF is one of the best✨❤️
Bro thank you!! I've been playing this exact model for my church but have never been able to take the time to learn how to set my own sounds. You showed exactly the 2 sounds I use the most (piano and pad). THANK YOU!
This is a timeless tutorial!! It’s 2024 and I needed to know this! Thank you!!
Thanks so much! As a drummer/guitarist vocalist, I wasn't sure how to do this! I'm a bit of a newby on keys, and this REALLY helped!! God bless!
THANK YOU!!!! This was the best demonstration ever. It was quick and straight to the point
Bro....I've had my Motif since they came out. I've NEVER learned how to perform this task and you showed how t do it very simple and plain. I now can venture into a new creative mode by layering my sounds. Thank you VERY much!
Thank you for an excellent job demonstrating how to layer this keyboard. Thank you for zooming in so we can see the screen.
Thanks for taking time to explain this. So far it’s the only one that was quick and easy to understand 👍🏼
Thank you for your time. Great helpful video.

I learned the hard way.
pc battery backup? computer?
THIS WAS SOOOOO HELPFUL...I've been looking for simple instructions and everyone has always made this complicated. THANK YOU!
Woow, God richly bless you. You broke these things down very well.
Thank you very much! Your lesson was easy to understand and follow along.
I used that Motif7 for 6 years and I didnt know that! Thanks man!
Dam this is amazing video man! No idea how i haven’t seen this!!!!
Thank you so much, I got S90es, you made it easy to layer especially the piano range thing ❤
Fantastic video, thank you so much. We have just bought the MO8 for our church which is hopefully pretty similar layout. This will help A LOT!
Thank you so Much!!! Very great tips for playing live worship! Blessings.
This was a good lesson....I have been not doing this....and I have had my instrument for a couple of years......I really like to have a Horn on top with Piano accompaniment.and this will do the trick....great can't wait to try it right NOW!!!!

Great Video! you explain thing very well !

+Jade Pascual I agree which is why I bought a MOX8.
i had a Triton Pro, nice touchscreen, but cheap keys & meh sounds. Ive always heard the Motif sounds better..but Korg Wavestation & M1 are legends, so
Straight to the point thanks my dude !
thanks for the video man. i just bought an es6. the sliders are very important thats y i chose es6 rather than the moxf6.
Thank you so much. This was so useful and very straightforward in the manner you explained it. I really appreciate it!

Hopefully I can do it in my S70 XS too. Thanks a lot
After saving what do i press to go back to my 4 add voicings 🙏🏾
Brother! Seriously! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Bro, God Bless you! Can i use my perform in song mode?
Thank you sir...
Please which pad are you using 🙏
I’d like to set bass and piano on mines for the main performance 2nd sound will be piano and vintage
The problem with this is that it eats up your polyphony when you use all 4 sounds at once. Korg and Roland are the same way.
Yanni combines 5 sounds in 1 piano
i have problems to use my Mc 707 with my new toy Yamaha Motif 7 , i only want to use the Motif as a soundmodule in 16 parts midi multitimbral setup, how to do this?

Is there anyway to expand memory or save the perf to a seperate area so I don’t delete (save over) existing perf?
So useful
Thanks a lot Broth
u r great man ...
friend, could you help me how can I lower an octave to a single sound without affecting the other sounds?
I miss my Motif

Estou com a mesma dúvida....
In voice mode there is a piano with a string on the fader. How can I make that a rhodes with strings

Could I use this with the yamaha mo8? Just bought one today! Socrates Perez
How did you get the analog pad on the fourth layer. I can’t find the pad on mine
Hermano selecciono todo y me manda a otra función cuando preciono una tecla me manda a otra función que será
I tried to do this, I only made up to Initialized Performance. but after I try to press F2 for Voice, it doesnt let me. im stuck at this point. I did everything else correct. Why is this?

It will not “save”. When I reboot it is gone. What do I need to do to get it to save? Thanks in advance, Great video.
When you’re creating the sound, there is a “STORE” button you need to on the middle-right part of the keyboard. Then, find the “ENTER” button to confirm. It may also ask you to confirm again; if so, find the “YES” button. Hope it helps!
Thanks! Yes, I did all of that correctly as you instructed. Is there a "Protect" command that should be turned off.
Great!
please can u do same on the motif xf8.layering sounds on the xf8 .thank you

Can you assign a pad to a expression or volume petal? So you can be playing piano and then fade in strings with a petal for hands free switching?
I'm still learning...I have the xf8 and have 8sliders, are we only allowed to only layer 4sounds???
