This is why the main video game protagonist is actually the main villain because they can cheat by using glitches and save states and Professor Oak’s job is to cheer and support the main character, regardless if the player decides to play fair or cheat, despite that Professor Oak is Gary’s grandpa he’s still Ash’s sidekick because he was his best friend when time traveling with Celebi in 4rth movie, thats why Oak preferred Ash over Gary, (Ik Ash and Red are 2 different people but they both have similar relationship with Professor Oak, like Red in Team Rocket rom hack and Ash from Celebi 4Ever movie)

Man this reminds me of the near end of Pokemon Fire Red: Rocket edition Romhack where Oak tells Red to release his Pokemon so that they could stall the cops so that he can become champion
so when Red reloads the save file and beats his opponents it's fine and he's the best pokemon trainer of all time but when Ash does it he's a loser and a cheater. Good to know.
