      You have to start with something more simple then develop the skills needed to fold the plane. another video isn't going to give those skills you need to fold it. ive seen 9 year old kids fold my advanced fighter jets, this isn't a question of the quality of the video or my diagrams its a question of skill.

    I tried this plane with both printer paper and some thinner paper I found lying around and let me tell you it is hard with both, but the difference is that with the thinner paper it actually flies. I think there are so many people complaining because they made theirs with printer paper. Another thing is PRECISION. If you make your folds precise with a capital P, it will take effort, yes, but it will pay off. My final product looks and flies amazingly well.

      Printer paper is the best to do this with, and it doesn’t become to thick to fold, I have folded many of jaysons more advanced plane like the Vulcan and f22 ( in that range ) with printer paper and it doesn’t bundle up and make it impossible to fold, in fact it helps it by making it tougher

      If you want precision try getting a smooth pebble you would find near a pond or in your yard. Clean it, find its flattest edge and press it down on any folds you make. Jayson Merrill uses a dedicated stone for his work but I think this option works just as well.

      Epoxy a small length of paper clip with a hook . Use a rubber band and see what happens .

    • @hls6925
      @hls6925 5 років тому +3

      Good point! Initially I used a square cut from an 80g/sq.m A4 sheet (which starts as 297mm x 210mm) - plane was 11.6cm in length, tiny! and too heavy (4.5g), impossible to fold easily. Then tried an 80g.sq.m A3 sheet.(420mm x 297mm) - plane was 16.2cm in length, still too heavy (7.1g), and still difficult to fold. Finally tried a sheet 41cm square, 80g/sq.m. This was easier to fold. Plane was 21.6cm in length, and weighed 13.5g. It flew in my garden, but I think SAS TRACKING's comment (below) about using a rubber band propulsion is definitely worth a try. I have to say, the design I've used all my life (not a dart type) flies just as well, though probably not as far, and I can make it in about 30 seconds, much faster and easier than the diamodback. I do like the look of it tho'!

    When I am done making this: my plane looks like CURSED PLANE

  • @JohnDoe-hd8ig

    dude this plane is really easy to make. try folding the corner of the wings into tiny winglets, it will stop spiiraling

  • @AWACS_Eagle_Eye
    @AWACS_Eagle_Eye Рік тому +2

    This and a few other simple designs Jayson has made really look more like UAVs than actual manned jets. And it is aesthetically pleasing.
    Edit: You could've just said origami paper because Kami is Paper in Japanese so when you said "Kami Paper" you just said "Paper Paper"

  • @RussBuss3

    I love this model. My only complaint is that if you use loose leaf or printer paper, it tends to be too heavy to fly, and acts more like a fancy dart.

      Umm I use 80 GSM paper and it flies fenomenol

      Try A4 pad paper and cut it down to size then fold the plane.

      BUT my printer paper diamondback is quite well 70 ft+.... BUT YEH i agree.. my plane does lack a bit in maneuvering..

    Thank you for the links. It looks like it flew quite well over there. I prefer using 20lb paper but it would fly too fast to be filmed, which is why I assuming you used origami paper.

    • @FoldableFlight
      @FoldableFlight  6 років тому +3

      No problem! I used origami paper because I had 10 inch squares, so I could fold larger planes. I tested those against 8.5 inch squares from 20 lb paper and they performed very similarly. Given that, I went with the origami paper since it was colored.

    when your finish, its like you are only throwing a weighted amount of paper,the more strength you do,the farther it will go..its really not gliding same those normal paper airplanes.

    Okay, it took me three tries, but I finally have an airplane that LOOKS exactly like yours. However, it's not "locked". The tail fins flop open when I let go. I've rewinded and replayed the last few minutes half a dozen times, and I can't figure out what went wrong. Help??
    I can't tell if mine flies or not because my son has taken possession of it and now it's his favourite toy and he won't let me touch it, lol.

    Fantastic flying falcon is great, and a lot easier to make, I got one to fly across an entire pasture as a kid... but it did have a bit of help from the wind admittedly. Still, it'll consistently beat any other design.

    Could you do a another collaboration with Jayson merrill [like the F22 or the Falcon]? I've seen and folded his designs, but both of you deserve more popularity. Also both of your designs are usually some of the best around!!

      This is one of those planes i thing you take outside and lauch with some authority. Its got the glide capacity of a fucking soup can so it needs some power behind it. Might make a decent reference for making an rc though. This design really needs some sustained power. But it does look cool though
