Someone get this man a proper wheelstand, i feel like he is too afraid to break his wooden structure with every movement he makes
Lol you should see my set up
yeh, beat on it a fair bit but still keeping in mind that most joints only have one screw in them aha
For real tho. He should do a pvc build. Super cheap and sturdy. Also good material for a video
What you mean? I bet it works better then my Playseat Revo.
But the point is budget build?
I feel like switching the positions of the shifter and hydro will make your set up more realistic. It looks like the hydro is too low and the shifter is too high
yeh, the handbrake is a little awkward but in the near future I plan on making a metal stand and then everything will find final positions. just easier to get a rough idea with a wood set up first
Absolute legend for making this video. Had mine wired up for 4 months trying to break it, Still working perfect! Appreciate you man
Heck yeah!! Just makes sliding so much more fun having an actual handbrake there to pull
He:Doing beutifull work for a hanbrake.
Me: buys hanbrake on amazon and connects it lmao
Mxrsii which handbrake?
That was funny
but, are you pc or xbox?
Subway Gaming yo dude! Are you on Xbox ? And can you still use the shifter after this mod had been made? Thank youuu

mate bloody great job! Awesome to see regular people doing cool projects like this, and making a budget work. Specially love your attitude of just jumping right in and making it work (progressing work on handbrake even though you had little/no plan), and that you'll just make stuff work for you (making the wood attachment for the handbrake in mere moments; and that jagged handbrake button solution)
Keep it up!! Your ingenuity is unmatched :D
thanks man!! yeah i guess its what you have to do when nothing really exists for it and at the time, next to no videos on how to do it either ahaha. just go for it and hope for the best. seems like a lot of people have since done it themselves as well after watching it which is awesome to hear!! get enough people doing it themselves then maybe logitech will catch on and give the people what they want ahaha
G'day mate I just came across your tutorial on the handbrake and I gotta say I was impressed. Well presented, easy to follow and the best thing is it works great. I'm a lot like you in the fact that I've designed built and added to my cockpit also. Well done mate
glad its worked for you!! yeah i had no idea what i was doing so wanted to make sure the steps i was doing were clear enough so that others who also had no clue can do them as well. thats sounds sick though!!
GG Man! Makes a nice addition to those skids aha
Followed your setup and it came out great. Been driving on it a week now no issues. Still need to get a spring but works great for now
hell yeah!! how much more fun is it though!!
Thanks man! I just finish my handbrake, first I was testing it with the B button than I broke my wheel😂 Now I use yours and it’s like completely save from failing, thanks and cheers from Germany!✌🏻👍🏼
yeh i wanted to go b button as well so i would have to keep changing setting to use paddles but oh well. it was the safer one. thanks man!!!
so do you remember why you couldn't use the B button for the handbrake?
@@GabrielP_s_yyes, my soldering wasn’t so good back than and I soldered (all over) the circuit board, then 2 contacts touched and it stopped working. Sorry my technical terms are not that good in English but I hope you get it
Yo. I love your videos, especially the budget videos, keep up the good work 👍🏼👊🏼
cheers man !! there will always be more ;)
Spends so much time to build setup. Drives in third person..
spends so much time to build set up. Should be aloud to drive how ever they want
Of course Im just joking but still.
@@grobsop6688 fucking claped mate x
bro tbh he might be in third person but hes actually pretty good at driving with the wheel lol
Sad!
I finally 3d printed my own e brake and now have to come back and see how you hooked yours up. Thanks again for the great video.
how good!! gotta keep me updated with how it holds up dude, interesting to see the durability of a 3d printed handbrake
@@thatbrokegamer. dude it is amazing. I'm going to reprint one so I can make a video I will tag you when it's finished
@@mazda3mike hope you did it mate, looking forward to something similar to yours one day
@GabrielP_s_y I did. I hard wired it to the board in the wheel. Works great. I sent it a little to hard the other day and broken handle. I'm printing a new one now. Will post a video to my channel when i remember lol
Rat rod sim set still better then my computer desk and kitchen chair good job mate earned a sub
oh its so dodgy ahaha, but it does the job and still havent spent even half of what someone would pay just for a frame!!
I just ordered everything I need on amazon, thanks for building up my courage to do this myself
oh nice man!! let me know how it goes!!
Awesome works perfect!!!
What wire did you use mate
@@smokaj6957 just the generic red and black 2 pin wire that I bought off Amazon
Just bought everything to do one today, thank for the help🙌
all good man! let me know how it goes!! most important thing, take your time with it
Hi mate Thank you so much for putting that video on because you’re inspired me to make my own and I know this video is really old but thank you very much
aye glad to hear it!!! yeh its honestly been my favourite (and possibly most nerve racking) mod ive done to it
Yooooo cheers just about to build one thanks for the vid
all good dude, hope it all works out well. let me know how it goes :)
I'm totally rigging up something with my Bowie knife, a spring, and a joystick analog from my spare controller parts🤔, for that custom look and feel..I have a g923 and can't find anything, so why not build it.. Love this video!! And the homemade rig.. Mines very similar.. Maybe I'll put the knife into a thin block of wood like a sheath so I can still take it out... In case anyone interrupt my driving session..😁
Love the licence plate LOL
just did this for myself, thanks so much for the idea/tutorial
oh yah!! howd it turn out??
@@thatbrokegamer. What size wire did you use
@@blaster240_ honestly wouldnt have a clue, it was just scrap wire i found in the shed aha
Wil it work with a 0.75mm cabel?
Bro that is awesome
It does the job :) hasnt broken yet so happy days
Thanks for This guy!Congratulation good work!
Thanks mate!! Yeah was a bit nervous doing this one but worked out in the end
This man deaerves more subscribers
appreciate it dude!!
What gauge of wire did you use? I'm considering setting one up for mine and I don't want too big of wire that would make it more difficult running it through the wheel.
wouldnt have a clue, just old scrap wire from some other random thing in the shed
Looks like 16-20 gauge
incredible dude. so tempted to buy a g920 and do this. i was looking at the thrustmaster's because they do a handbrake addon. but the price difference between the g920 and thrustmaster is ridiculous.
yeh, theres a bit of a difference. but... you know it's going to work.. this is hopes and dreams ahahaha
We built this. It worked amazing. My mate had a blast for about 4 days before it facked itself and scrambled the steering wheels brain. I had a laugh of course but he now has a dead wheel. 10/10 would do again.
aww no, wtf. probably shorted on something. mines still going strong
@@thatbrokegamer. Nope lol I put it under the microscope and properly micro soldered it. Guess his one just rejected the mod. :)
Ahhh mine started to bring up the menu and other random stuff when it was 1 turn in. The new solder point had loosened the existing solder point. I'm sure it was due to excessive sideways action. Removed the e-brake mod and G29 back to normal.
The thing is... I would love to do that but I don’t wont to brake my wheel so do you think there is a way to do it without pulling apart the wheel
nope, because you have to get the circuit board out to attach the wires
Super świetna robota
Hey mate, all good? I was wondering if I could use a normal usb handbrake, just scrap up the wires and connect them to the wheelbase, any ideas?
uh not sure, had someone else get one of the usb ones and it was a bit more annoying for them to get it to work. it is do able but i wouldnt have a clue how
Thank man you video help me to make more ideas and I did my handbrake on B and sequential shift on LB and RB I did my one with magnets and work pretty good!! Thank 👍👍👍👍
yeah i want to try run another lead from the b button so i can set up a sequential shifter as well and still have a handbrake to use
where is boon B?? i cant find it
Saw a “playseat”. Insta-like, epic stuff.
Not everyone has thousands for wheel and seat. I surely don’t. One of the best sim racers uses g27.
Yeh, this thing was second hand and they were doing a clearance sale aha. So saved a bit there. Just do see the point of needing to get everything new
@@thatbrokegamer. I'm building a rig soon, and I run a G27. Perfectly good wheel, I actually like the fact that aren't that many buttons on it.
James W u know how to wire the handbrake for g27?
Andrew Pfeifer a set of fanatec.... can easily go pass 1k.....
@@andrewpfeifer2808 please do some research.
This is an awesome tutorial, did you happen to notice if you lost functionality of the paddle itself that you tapped into? I’ve heard you do loose it, but there are three connections on those buttons, so I wonder if there’s a way to avoid that.
No, there's no reason to loos function. The only reason you would "loose" function is because you need to have the paddle in the controller settings mapped as the handbrake. Not shift up. It will still work as normal it just depends what you want it to be configured as. So it is a shift up, then the handbrake would shift up as well. If it's mapped as a handbrake then the paddled and handbrake will act like a handbrake
Did this to my g920 a few years ago using my factory mustang shifter and crap I had laying around my shop (springs, steel plate with a rectangle cut in it to only allow forward and back movement, some aluminum to hold the switch and give some play if I pulled the shifter back too hard and some mismatched bolts. I loved it. Good stuff, man.
dang, sounds like you put a bit more effort in than i did aha. sounds sick though!!
Can someone help me please. I bought a used Logitech G920 with a missing USB adapter . I ordered the USB adapter but want to make sure the wheel is working . When I plug in the power cable to the wheel nothing happens, no lights or anything. Is that because I don't have it connected to the PC with the adapter ? Or should I at least get some lights on the wheel with just the power plugged in? Thank You.
usb?? not sure if maybe on pc you can map that as a certain button. i know for sure on xbox you can. it has to be hard wired direct into the wheel
nice one, just made a e-brake 1 week ago with an old logitech gamepad. i just used the pcb board of it and bought a handbrake on amazon. Can use it as an usb handbrake, i thinks its better then wiring it to the wheel.
Woah woah woah wait what? Could you explain that a little bit? A USB supported handbrake??
@@wrenchtwistinwithjoe3558 So i bought a hydro handbrake from Amazon, then i opened my old logitech gamepad or any controller. I kept the USB Cable on the pcb board and used a wire to detect the A,B,.. or any button on the controller.. then i connected the A combination button with a micro switch and attached it to the handbrake, plug in the usb and finished...
yeh i don't even know what a pcb board is aha. so i'll leave that stuff up to you :')
There are also PCB's made for these kind of uses:
www.banggood.com/Arcade-Game-Controller-Joystick-Ecoder-Board-with-Cable-for-PC-p-1221879.html?p=@T022017804603201801&cur_warehouse=CN
How did you set the handbrake button in the game to the right paddle?
in controls, it's on layout 3 I believe and that has it mapped as the paddle
if you know anyone who does metalwork and welding, go to the scrap yard and ask if they have some scrap box steel and have him help you build a replica wheelstand. find an image on google and go after that and feel. looks like you're gonna rip that wodden constraption to bits every flick you do:)
ive actually got some metal already aha. but experimenting with the wood first as its easier to change things around to get a base idea of what feels alright then do a final product in metal
Can I get a link for some cheap wires or tell me what kind of wires your need for the switch
uh, i wouldn't have a clue, pretty much any hardware shop or electrical shop should have them and its a fairly thin wire. some places you can just buy it by the meter and could cost you all of $2 for a meter of it
yo Subway what gauge speaker wire did you use? i just ordered everything except wire cus idk which size to use lmao. help me please
wouldnt have a clue what it was ahaha. but was pretty thin. i wouldnt run good speakers off it thats for sure
Good drive
thanks :)
It’s two years later but what button did you use? Does it matter if it’s AC or DC
wouldnt have a clue hey ahaha. just got some 70c button and wired it into the shift up paddle
Im a bit confused how did he drift without this e brake before, does the g920 have an ebrake you can buy?
I had my shift up paddle configured as my ebrake. so all i did was hard wire this into that shift up as well. there is no 'bolt on' hand brake that logitech offer.
Thanks for the tutorial! I am also curious if you lost functionality of the paddle itself that you tapped into?
Paddle still works as normal. Only if you have it mapped as the shift up paddle still, which means if you pull the handbrake it will shift up as well. If you change the button config for that to be a handbrake. Then you could handbrake with either the paddle or the actual handbrake
@@thatbrokegamer. I found out just by trying it for myself that you can use any usb handbrakes on the xbox series for the new Forza Motorsport-u just map the handbrake key (mine is 1) to the handbrake Keyboard binding handbrake key🤘
The best idea mate. Is the paddle also working that way?
yeh paddle still works, so when you switch to the layout that puts it as shift up again, then you can still use it as normal
Hi mate. Considering giving this a go but just one thing. I play rally games too and I like to use the back pedals for shifting on them. Do they continue to work once you have added the hand brake?
Yeh the issue is because its really just an extension on that button. They will both do what ever youve got that button mapped as. So in forza horizo 3+4. If I want to use it as that paddle is meant to be. I use layout 1. But then the handbrake turns into a shift up as well. And to set the handbrake up, I meed layout 3. But then that paddle is mapped as a handbrake as well. Ive been looking at ways to try tap the wires into the b button or someting. Juat so I can have sequential shifting and still be able to use the handbrake
ideally if you do this mod, you need to use the B button for the hand brake, otherwise you will lose the ability to use the paddle shift, also a dc socket and plug or a 3.5mm jack make for a much neater job, as opposed to running the cable through the vent :)
@@wingingit3071 was looking at the b button but its a much hard one to get a good connection on. will do it at some point. but just preferred to try the shift points first
Did the wires come from the wheel or were they bought separately
nah, they were scrap speaker wire from the shed :')
With the handbrake the ones they sell on eBay with a USB, if I plugged that into my Xbox would it function.
Please answer
Oli Game also looking for that answer...
Same answer anyone
Nope
if you're on pc maybe. but xbox no, you have to wire it into the circuit board of the wheel to the button you want it to work as
By any chance any link for the handbrake
nah, just ebay. just search up "hydro handbrake" then sort price lowest to highest
Is that a contact switch like bridges connections or breaks a connection
mind blank currently, but when the button is in, handbrake is on
Hey man great vid I’m getting a Xbox next week and a g920 soon as well gonna do this mod could you send a link to the button and wires you used please thanks
uh, i don't have any links for them. it was just scrap wire i found in the shed aha. and just got the button from the local gadgets shops
Subway Gaming does it matter about the gauge of the wire and stuff like that?
just need to make sure it's fairly small. the whole thing wouldn't want it to be any thicker than your average earphone wire. obviously the wires inside are going to be thicker than earphones but just for outer size reference
Could you include links to the products you purchased?
handbrake was just a "hydro handbrake" search on ebay and the switch was bough in person at a local electronics store, so i don't have a link for that one
I reckon you should switch places with the hydro e brake with the gear shifter
ive thought about it, but putting the hand brake up there would need a lot more reinforcement to not destroy the stand. where as put directly to the base, its alot more rigid
I may have missed it but which button did you wire into on the motherboard???? (Left/right paddle, a,b,x,y) thanks great vid
Chris Gonzales his right paddle i believe
right/shift up paddle :)
Can you put it to a different button? @subwaygaming
@@bigkingy9483 yes
Hey Mate thanks for the vid im looking to do this but The only hand brakes i could find are the usb ones so could you possibly send a link of the one you got and if not thats fine
yeah a lot of those usb ones have popped up and advertise as 'use with console' uh this is just an ebay buy, then just bought a little button from local electronics store that look like it could mount on it. there's no right or wrong way, just needs a little creativity really aha
Hi subway I am doing going to replicate this but may I ask where did you get the button from that the handbrake hits?
U can buy them from JayCar
was just local electronics store. pretty sure this was from jaycar as well aha
Ty Midson ok thx
Subway Gaming ok thankyou haha
Would this work if i connect the switch to an old controller rather than my wheel ? Then connect controller to console as usual ?
uh, it might, but i don't know if in game it will respond to 2 different controllers while driving..
as in both the wheel and normal controller simultaneously
Subway Gaming i know it works on GT sport with controller an wheel ill give it a try ! Hopefully its fine haha thanks for the reply!
Hi. Is the right shifter still working after welding an extra handbrake?
yeah shifter still works as normal. but because they're now on the same 'function'. they're both either mapped as a handbrake OR a shift up. can't be mixed
@@thatbrokegamer. thanks. Now I know it :) since 3 weeks I have the same solution as yours and I am super happy :)
do you have the website link for the little button thing
It wasnt bought online. Just went to the local electronics store. The one I went to was Jaycar
how do u get the wires.
local hardware shop
2:55 When he said put that in first his accent changed
it has it moments :')
Hi can you please tell me the total price with all the items purchased and what are the items you need
for my entire set up, maybe 400 australia. for the hand brake. 35, that was just ebay handbrake, a $1 from an electrocis shop and scrap speaker wire hanging around
Lol your setup looks cheap yet dope xD
oh the base was an old bed frame, then just bits and pieces added as its evolved ahaha. holds up, does the job, wont complain
I got it to work with my g920, and hopped onto assetto corsa on Xbox and when I mapped the handbrake it mapped it perfectly fine but when I actually went to drive and pull the handbrake it doesn’t work at all, I made sure it wasn’t the handbrake or wires so I loaded forza horizon 4 and it works perfectly all around. Why not assetto corsa tho? Did I do something wrong?
wouldn't have a clue, never played assetto.
Did you ever get it working in assetto corsa? I did the exact mods and got it all working perfectly in forza and other games but for some reason I’m struggling in assetto. That’s my go to game to play. I think it’s because when you switch to the h-pattern shifter it shuts off the paddles. I tried it with h-pattern turned off and my button mapping set to handbrake on the paddle and shifting on A-B buttons but it still just shifts with paddles
@@nathanzeisig1689 I actually did get it working, Unfortunately we can’t use that button cause it’s mainly for the paddles and it shuts off the function of it. What I did was I rewired it to the B button and mapped it to be in game, and now it works flawlessly, for every game.
where did you get the wheel/adapter for is that the g29? i need me a bigger wheel so bad haha
www.3drap.it/product/adapter-mozzo-hub-logitech-g29-g920/
thats the one ive got, or you might be able to find some kind of metal ones on ebay. seen them pop up here and there. but some allow you to have the buttons still and some have the wheel just mounted directly on with out the buttons
@@thatbrokegamer. thank you!!
Where did you buy the E brake?
ebay
i followed all ur steps in the video wired it all up correctly and still doesn't work in game and when i touched the wires together it went over to the right and i changed my layout to default layout 3 and still doesn't work please help me
and do you have to connect a usb to give it power coz i did that i connected a usb for power and it just kept on sending a signal saying that it was pressing that right button
nah, its just wired into the shift up button, no extra power needed. to make sure you get the right contact points, use just one piece of wire and touch them together and you will see the character either shift up or pull the handbrake. then those are the points you want your actual wire to make contact with
Does the paddle still work after you did that
paddle still works, but have to remember, the handbrake is only going to act as what you have that paddle set as. either handbrake or shift up
settings for wheel and in game? I cant play horizon 4 or FM7 on PC becaise the G27 is not able to be used, you start to lose control slightly and you spin out, even if you control it the exact same way with a controller that you know is possible it just will not work on the wheel.
Uhh, I just have in game because I play on xbox. Cant help you with fm7. But fh4 in game I use a 600 rotation. Centre spring scale 190, wheel damper 30, linearity 35, forcefeedback 100.

Have you me the settings for drift ?
i don't have any settings specifically for drift. i just have settings that kind of do a little of everything

Uh, on the paddle I think. Pretty sure theres a close up in the video
i followed your tutorial on my g920 and it has stoped working it was working before. the leds and the force feed back still work but it dose not sense it in game and now i have just wasted overt 440 dollars on the wheel and another 200 ona frame to hold it if you would be able to help that would be great
20 for a frame? Nice! :P but could of possibly messed up wiring. why they should say " Note; if your not good with wiring, don't attempt" could of easily popped a wire

could be the 2 wires touching somewhere to close that circuit and act as if it's being pressed. check your connection both on the wheel and the handbrake and make sure there no thin frayed bits that might close the loop or then both having contact on the same piece of metal
@@thatbrokegamer. thanks a lot man! You were right the wire had gotten snagged inside the wheel and was causing the circuit to close just replaced the wires and and re soldered it and it works good as new

What steering wheel is that?
just a cheapy ebay one. do need to buy a hub adaptor to run it though
Mine keeps on shifting up when I touch the wires y is that
@subay gaming
Thats a good thing. All you need to do, go to you settings. Then controller settings. Change wheel layout to layout 3. Turns the shift up paddle to a hand brake
I’ve been browsing hand brakes and ilmost bought that one and last Minuit I reaslised it was a real one for your car and not for a sim
ahaha, thats what this one is :') for an actual car
Also what handbrake is that
uh, how do you mean?? just a hydro handbrake for a car aha
It looks a lot nicer than my wheel in general and I find that kind of funny considering I literally have the same fucking wheel that he does. That tells me a lot about my wheel experience.😂
yeah look, that wheel has since been yeeted ahaha. needed something new on it and not feel like it was made out of bamboo
buy link?
Uh, just search hydro handbrake in eBay. And I usually just go the sort and then price/postage lowest first
i dont think there is a + or - mate?
who knows, an a and b point. what ever you want to call it aha
