"The look on AJ's face when she finished"....a musician knows when the performance met their expectations...this is one of those...pure 10's across the board.
And, keep in mind folks, this was LIVE, no over-dubs, no retakes or editing. It takes superb musicianship to do that live! They knew just how long to sustain the notes at the end of phrases. And I love the little, effective pause they do before everytime they sing "On this harvest moon" sort of in a capella, it just lets the harmonies ring through. Brilliant!
This is utter perfection ! the voices, the musicianship , just the best song I`ve heard for years, THANKYOU . Also Angel Band, you guys should do more together it`s a match made in heaven ! X
Saw them last weekend at Treebones, wow! They did this beautifully along with the rest of the set. AJ really fits with them and she can rip on the Mando.
This video is how i discovered BOTH acts and I've fallen in love with both. In fact they're both coming to ATL in October (separately tho 😢) and we're going to both shows.
Yes, this version of "Harvest Moon" is better than the original. The sweet singing AJ Lee with her mandolin and The BroCo upgraded this Niel Young hit.
WOW! AJ Lee is a rising star in the Bluegrass world. What a voice. So glad to see her here. Her first youtube video was back when she was six! She has grown up on here. NCBS vocalist of the year at least 9 times, mandolin player of the year at least once. And a wonderful songwriter too. Look for AJ Lee and Blue Summit. Thanks so much for this. As always you are the best.
Thanks for reviewing their version. I think Neil Young would be pleased actually. No better form of admiration than when someone(s) perform your creation(s) brilliantly as you do. AJ and The Brothers also do great with the rendition of Angel Band which I think is another stellar version on a classic song (with all respect to the Stanley Brothers). I like your channel idea. Thanks. Subscribed. Looking forward to hearing about other songs that you think are good or great (or not so good). And listening to creations of your own. Btw. If you listen to country songs sometimes, Lee Ann Womack did a great version of Grand Tour for George Jones IMO.
Harri, you have good taste. Love your review. Their version is superb. It is pure classic Americana culture music at its best. The song itself is beyond good. Thank you, Neil.
MAGIC ... Thanks for the post.. It's what you don't play with your instrumentation as you sing this Classic Song.. I'm a 55 year Barroom Bass Player.. This Bass Player holds the Song and Space with Four-Some.. MAGIC.
Amazing - my feelings exactly. I only found this song a couple weeks ago and have played it every day since - it's delicious!! I also notice the Everly brothers vibe.
The mandolin is not a guitar. It has four sets of two strings tuned in unison with considerably more voice than the acoustic guitar and has been around for several hundred years. AJ Lee is perhaps not the flashiest mandolin player but is highly skilled in its use, with an exceptional ability to give a song exactly what it needs. She and her band Blue Summit are rising stars in their music genre. This collaboration with the Comatose Brothers has breathed new life into this great song, bringing it to a totally new audience. Young should reward these guys by sharing some royalty! 🤔
Their version with AJ on the mandolin reminds me of Joe Brown and his ukulele on The Concert For George singing I’ll See You In My Dreams. Just beautiful.
First time I found somebody who reacted pretty much the same way I did when I first heard it. They did a brilliant job of mixing it all, and the old-time mic, used with what sounds like an old, flat-plate reverb, which gives it that old- Patsy Cline-era sound- of just a band in a solid wood room, with natural reverb the only real effect added. This is what's lost on music today- Sometimes? Simpler if far, far better. It is also my new favorite version- one I don't really want topped, tbqh.
Yes, great song from Neil, his version is awesome,. It’s such a great song that there are countless versions of it on You Tube. But, for some reason, this version has just blown up, my wife and I watch it probably two times per day. It just comes across in a pleasing authentic great version of this song. AJ seems so pleased that she got the mandolin solo down,. Big smile after the solo. Obviously, totally copyrighted, but when it gets to this level, pretty sure Neil is involved.
I have heard this before and absolutely love it. I watched your video just to hear it again. Great reaction, beautiful song. Kudos to you for stepping outside the box on you reation video.
So elated you found this version of Neil’s song who I love. Sent out on my comments to all I could and your the first I’ve seen do it. I have since following in love with AJ lee and the brothers comatose. Ty
There are so many extremely talented musicians and singers in the Americana/Bluegrass brand of music. These folks are all terrific and what a cover of a great song. Thanks Harri… keep exploring
perfectly titled video, my friend 🎯 like Johnny Cash and "Hurt", they done stole that song from its writer. Neil's version tears me up 🥲 but this is so much more evocative and buttery smooth, properly befitting the lyrics, imo. ❤️🩹❤️🩹 I'll always love you Hope because you WERE love and I'll always remember "🎶[square] dancing in the moonlight, on that June night...kiss her in the moonlight if you dare 🎶" with you & the gang ❤️🩹❤️🩹
Very nice! Two other very good Neil Young covers; Cowgirl In the Sand, Annie Keating Helpless, Molly Tuttle + Old Crow Medicine Show The bluegrass arrangements make Neil's songs shine.
A is a master of the mandolin. Ive been playing this non stop since I discovered it about 4 months ago! Hey have another new release "These Days," the Jackson Brown song, which is also stellar.
Gorgeous.......If you haven't yet.....Listen to some Allison Krauss and Union Station. Let Me Touch You For A While, Lucky One, River in the Rain, if you like this you will LOVE Allison.
What do you mean, sue them? They've always credited this piece to Neil Young. They've never tried to pretend they wrote it. They just did a much better rendition of the song than Young could ever do.
Harri, if you love this version, you owe it to yourself to look up on UA-cam the rendition by Foxes and Fossils. For my money, that's the best cover version, and AJ and the Brothers would be a close second. Neil's original with his sister, Astrid, and Nicollet Larson on harmony is still unsurpassed, though.
So, while I do appreciate the Foxes and Fossils cover, theirs is a bit forced and stiff - - and it would even be better if they didn't use electronic-generated background instrumentation. The version here with AJ Lee and the Brothers Comatose is so easy and natural, very delicious.
"The look on AJ's face when she finished"....a musician knows when the performance met their expectations...this is one of those...pure 10's across the board.

Best version for sure!!!
Thanks for checking out the tune. Glad you dug it! AJ's instrument is called a mandolin. ✌& 🧡
Beautiful cover

Saw them last weekend at Treebones, wow! They did this beautifully along with the rest of the set. AJ really fits with them and she can rip on the Mando.
Heaven, love it❤❤❤
This version is stunning….i listen to it often.
Quite brilliant. AJs phrasing is magical and The Brothers Comatose backing is phenomenal. Truly beautiful rendition of a great Neil Yong song.
Brothers Comatose AND AJ Lee?? Excellent!! I've listened to this a hundred times over the past year. Doesn't get any better than this!!
This video is how i discovered BOTH acts and I've fallen in love with both. In fact they're both coming to ATL in October (separately tho 😢) and we're going to both shows.
aj lee is my girl since i found her onyou tube this year. music gets me thru.
My God, that's beautiful!
YESSSS! I love this song. It just goes right into the center of my being ... the way they sing and play is magic. They resonate with the rising moon!
That Mando and the harmony!

Rising? So glad you said she had been around since she was six.... she is Soooo good. Loved the Bros since forever😁
AJ plays the mandolin

Heard this version a couple of years back & instantly loved it more than Neil Young’s. Still Do!
Harri, you have good taste. Love your review. Their version is superb. It is pure classic Americana culture music at its best. The song itself is beyond good. Thank you, Neil.
Stunning performance! One of the most refreshing things I've run across in a long time.
Saw them at Merle fest last year aj was with them and they did this song is was so awesome live
Bet that waz FANTASTIC
Found this cover in January and have listened to it daily since then, just the sweetest music ever. Love your reaction......just as sweet.
Often singers will stare at each other to be sure to be on the same page. Here, they go eyes shut and by feel, and get some magic.
AJ nailed it. Love her version!
I can just listen to this song over and over…which I have! Beautiful!
I have listened to this tune since it first hit you tube. It remains my fav tune.
Gives me alot of joy to see someone get from this song what I do.😊
MAGIC ... Thanks for the post.. It's what you don't play with your instrumentation as you sing this Classic Song.. I'm a 55 year Barroom Bass Player.. This Bass Player holds the Song and Space with Four-Some.. MAGIC.
If this doesn't strike your heart or bring a tear to your eye you have no soul this is absolutely amazing! Great analysis Harribest.
Amazing - my feelings exactly. I only found this song a couple weeks ago and have played it every day since - it's delicious!! I also notice the Everly brothers vibe.
You are absolutely right. Doesn’t get any better than this. Right on Bro!

Thank you for that reaction. It made my day.
A great song done greatly.
I’ve always said this is the best version of this song. Outstanding
I felt the same way u did and have listened to it many times. I love the original with Neal too!
They knocked this OUT OF THE PARK!
Absolutely lovely. I think Neil Young would be proud knowing she did his song justice.
That woman is a great singer & Beautiful singer !
This is about the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Perfect harmony, and instrument playing...especially AJ on the mandolin.
Class, I love it!. ❤

Thoroughly enjoyed that Harri, sharing your reaction on the AJ Lee & Blue Summit Base Camp (Community Fan Page).
The Brothers Comatose are a gem here in Northern CA as well. So fun to see them live.
Cannot get enough of Aj Lee's band ua-cam.com/video/NedQdFQRBWc/v-deo.html
I've been watching this for a few months now, AJ and mandolin really knocks it out of the park. A masterpiece!
This sing makes my heart sing on So many levels😊
That three part harmony is gold. 🤑🤑🤑

Great cover of the song. She was amazing in voice and her mandolin playing. 👍
Perfection
🥰
Agreed!
I have heard this before and absolutely love it. I watched your video just to hear it again. Great reaction, beautiful song. Kudos to you for stepping outside the box on you reation video.
Wow, knock me out. Great tune done by some fantastic musicians.
I’m not surprised because when I fist heard her on this song I was blown away. I fell in love both with AJ but also Comatose Brothers.
Check out AJ and Blue Summit singing Angel Band. You're welcome.
So elated you found this version of Neil’s song who I love. Sent out on my comments to all I could and your the first I’ve seen do it. I have since following in love with AJ lee and the brothers comatose. Ty
love great covers. artists who can put their own touch to it.
There are so many extremely talented musicians and singers in the Americana/Bluegrass brand of music. These folks are all terrific and what a cover of a great song.

Bro....this is music at its finest!
perfectly titled video, my friend 🎯

Very nice! Two other very good Neil Young covers;
Cowgirl In the Sand, Annie Keating
Helpless, Molly Tuttle + Old Crow Medicine Show
The bluegrass arrangements make Neil's songs shine.
Funny, I just stumbled on this band a short while ago and they are fantastic. Nice Joel and Harri.
Great review. I'm subscribing.
Mine too. Their version owns Neil's from the first verse to the last. And AJ's mandolin phrasing puts it over the top.
Great song... great cover!
Wonderful, if there is a way to capture love this is it
I like this better than Neil Young's version! Love The Brothers Comatose. And Mandoline Orange's version is just as good as this one.
🎶 🎧 🎶 Sweeeet
Try Original song by AJ Lee & Blue Summit- il come back - at ear trumpet labs, This is some new bluegrass.
This is performed beautifully. But I still lean towards the Neil Young version (which has more sentiment in my opinion). Thanks Harri
Harri check out Sierra Ferrell version of this song. !!!
One guitar one person.
Did Young's song far better than he ever did or could !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They didn't steal it, they remodeled it.
A J plays a mandolin
Wow blue grass at its finest. Better than the original
Following this anger and Blue Summit for a while. Tour the edges of the US. Closest was Nashville once. Would enjoy Midwest tour
Best version❤
Great harmonies
Where did they go
Exquisite Stuff!? 💕
Very sweet!!!!
❤❤❤
Everyone's gotta' check out AJ Lee's new album with her band Blue Summit.
Mandolin
A is a master of the mandolin. Ive been playing this non stop since I discovered it about 4 months ago!
Hey have another new release "These Days," the Jackson Brown song, which is also stellar.
If you like this but you don’t know what a mandolin is ….You really need to watch more bluegrass music
Fantastic.
Love Neil’s version too!
Thats a mandolin and she plays it great
You should check out her other stuff. If she ever moves to Nashville, she could be the next Alison Krause.
Yes, I agree . . the next Alison Krause!
I don’t know why everybody who hears this isn’t as addicted asi am.
BTW, she’s playing a mandolin.
Yes, subtle Everly Brothers. Grew up on them!
Gorgeous.......If you haven't yet.....Listen to some Allison Krauss and Union Station. Let Me Touch You For A While, Lucky One, River in the Rain, if you like this you will LOVE Allison.
Very nice but nobody can do it like Neil Young its his by far.
What do you mean, sue them? They've always credited this piece to Neil Young. They've never tried to pretend they wrote it. They just did a much better rendition of the song than Young could ever do.
*added to favourites in Deezer.
I hope they will put it on a cd....
I think it's called a mandolin.
Great vid! If you like that cover, you really have to check out their cover of “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse!
Have a listen to Foxes and Fossils vertion, those 2 version are myfavourites.

Best cover I have ever heard
Neil young is a twat
That young lady smashed it out the park and into the stratosphere 🤟
Even more betterer.............ua-cam.com/video/xA0Vl0gre6U/v-deo.html
