After Rogue and Unity, you see this series start to plummet and just grow stale and lifeless (except Origins, as that game actually had heart put into it). Say what you want about Ubisoft, but at least they had passion. Now, they're literally hanging on by a thread, and they're just pulling mythological shit out of their asses, despite trying to make (somewhat) realistic stories. Mirage was their one chance to fix the series, and they failed. Shadows might just be the death of this franchise, especially considering the announcement of Ghost of Yōtei.

That mechanic has been in AC since the lifts were introduced in Brotherhood and isn’t a hidden thing. There’s literally an achievement/trophy in Brotherhood that unlocks when you kill someone with a lift

This is just a regular old “boss fight”, not even an “assassination mission”

Black flag acrually gave us some secret cutscenes if we approach our mission differently or even perfectly timed action, like i once found a badass cutscene when i had to chase a captain and then air assassinate him just right after he get out of a building
The lift always one hit kill any fools that are unfortunate enough to stand under it. Even in Odysseys, an RPG title that forbid you to kick people off cliffs if they are 3 levels above you. You can in theory kill a level 99 mercenary as a level 1 if you manage to lure them under the lift and crush them with the counterweight.
Reading through these comments, this is the first one that gave a clue to what happened. Thanks. I'll just have to make sure El Tiburon is close enough to me so that the counterweight gets him. I used the lift to get away but then kept shooting and reloading until he died.
Also a nice little detail, Edward said : this again huh. However its actually the first time you get to fight him. But originaly there was a mission were you had to fight him in the beginning of the game but ubisoft cut that mission, i dont know why. But thats the reason he says that

The lift actually has rly generous splash damage! So you could've just gone up when he was next to you. No need to get hit to get home even closer, or smoke to keep him in place

I'm pretty sure in that game, I remember countering and 1 shoting a boss back when I first played it. Can't remember if it was this boss or not but I remember the boss being armored.
I don't remember this mission. However, I do remember watching this clip how I got annoyed that the pistols on the chest are cut from the original size, like the ones he wears on his waist. It just ruined the aesthetic for me lol
Reminds me of the final boss fight for Tenchu Z on the Xbox 360. On another video, the player runs outside, villain will follow eventually, do the leap over him, and keep striking while he's blocking eventually pushing him into the river where it is an instant win bc he can't swim. Tried it myself, and it works. Also always loved that line, "...Scoundrel into a soldier."

I bought Odyssey recently. What i found weird is the rain effect way more better in AC4 then Odyssey. The effect of splash on the ground from the rain, and the splash effect to the character it just feels real. And then you compare to Odyssey it just blant rain effect that goes through your body.
Never forget that the PIRATE FLINTLOCK from AC3 is in every single advertisement and main menu of Black Flags but isn’t even in the game!!! Modders should port that gun to Black Flags from AC3.
Don’t worry I’ve been playing Assassins Creed since the beginning and all those times they’ve had theses lifts in their games it took me this long to find out that the counter weight crushes whoever is below, and honestly I wish I had known this sooner, and honestly I should have known, it seems like common sense for something heavy that lifts you up to a rooftop to also have a secondary use of killing anyone beneath you within’ a small radius.
Heck in the first time i even thrown some money too. Blody brut didn't even looked at it. This combate really justifice that "everybody got a plan, untill they got punched in the face ( axe in the face)"
Didn't know it would 1 shot him, or that you could kill someone by doing that? Cause I figured it out in... the second game? Or brotherhood. And that's my #2 way of getting money from civilians without getting desynchronized
I think you can also kill him with a throwing knife. You can get the knife out of that fast guys with no hat, you just need to parry his attack and steal his weapon

If you persistently fist fight with him and run around....you can trigger the glitch where Edward can actually counter him and hit him.

I used to do the same thing with lifts in oddysey to take down mercenaries of any level.
It's also not so unrealistic. If you fight someone and suddenly he cuts a rope and flies away, most of us would be too confused to look up.😅

I mean, the boss battle is quite short if you simply blast him 4 times with the pistols you get from the navy contracts.
This is pretty much the only way to kill Tiburon if you did the no weapon glitch.
