Yes, father and son, both really get into every song they listen to. You might also want to check Drop Z: Spilling the Tea, she not a big channel, pretty new... But she is epic. 100% real and invested.
That first riff after the intro is probably my favorite Black Metal riff ever. If you like a choir on Metal you need to check Therion, specially on the "Secret of the Runes" album.
When in Oslo Opera House with a majestic choir and Satyricon, one should not be moshing ;) Moshing in (T)NBM is a rare thing anyway, and more common in the US and in death/thrash-metal. Also this is a seated venue, hard to get around. And of course there was NO shock for the choir and conductor when the show started, as they have been rehearsing with the band for weeks, witch should be obvious... this wasn't improvised ;p
Great reaction! Nice to see your son enjoyed a black metal song, because I never saw he likes any extreme metal. And Mother North is a true black metal hymn!
Just in case you are wondering what he said was: Super motivational to play for you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The opera choir! (crowd cheers for the choir) *some names, some more names* thanks a lot! Welcome to the misty realms of Norwegian black metal friends, stay and you will like it! Do some early enslaved and some Mayhem!
Hey. My band played support for satyricon. Good times. Im the end he says» fantastictly motivating to been playing infront of you, thank you.cheer for choir»
Holy shit, I had never listened to Satyricon, but they seem awesome! You guys should check out a band called Moonsorrow! Songs "huuto" or "muinaiset" might be a good place to start.
they where actually rules that they had to sit the whole show, because of it was in the opera :( but the band asked then to stand after a few songs ,so i think thats why they are taking it easy
In response to your comment about the crowd just standing there. I've heard from some band friends that's just what a lot of European people do at shows but they are in fact enjoying themselves. Also depending on the age of the Opera house they may have certain rules against mosh pits and craziness. To the song, this was amazing. I hadn't delved to deep into this band and may have to check out more.
Satyr actually comments on it after the first song. But since this was in the Opera house, it can't be compared to say a gid they did at another venue.. then you'll see pits and ppl going crazy. Trust me ;) Also defo worth looking into, as they are one of the "first" among the Norwegian Black Metal wave in the 90s
Next satyricon song needs to be either "K.I.N.G" or "Fuel for Hatred". Not any specific reason, but these two songs are black'n'roll, which means the catchy riffs of heavy metal and then you also have the black metal of course. pretty amazing.
I know you mentioned that they're touring North America.. Might want to try to make that show as it might be their last according to their facebook page.
sorry if someone has commented this before, i dont have the patience to look through all the comments, but the reason that all the audience was silent/quiet wathever, was that this was performed in the national opera in norway. so it would be like average business joe went to a concert. if this to be a "normal" satyricon concert, the crowd would be mental
The audienced ´behaved´ because Satyricon played at the opera in Oslo, also people in Oslo are bit more chill when it comes to Black Metal music. And it was rehearsed, in fact, many times actually xD
Saw them in Tuska 2000. Was a bit different show back then. o_o This DVD was great though, personally preferred Phoenix from all the songs, even if it's a bit poppy one with Sivert Høyem doing clean vocals and all. The choir just lifted the whole thing to another level.
A lot of rehearsals are involved with a show like this so the choir had probably played this song half a dozen times before they did this show so it probably wasn’t too much of a shock haha
I would also recomend "Phoenix (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) feat. Sivert Høyem". It`s from the same concert, and have a high qualaty production. The song is with one of norways most famous male vocalist, so it`s more tradisonal rock-style on the vocals. The camera also pays a lot of attention on the drummer you bouth liked in these song
Love your variation of bands to react to, differs from the rest of the crowd, the last two I saw was from my home country Norway of course but nonetheless, thx :)
You should go and see the show when they come close to your place, because Satyricon announced it might be their last North American tour, so you may never get another chance.
I went down the rabbit hole of reactions to Crystal Lake - Apollo and found about you guys a few weeks ago. Love the content! I know you got loads of fans requesting songs all the time, but I thought I might throw my request in. From what I've seen you guys dabble in metalcore a little bit here and there and I would love a reaction to my favorite band for the last 10 years, Every Time I Die (no, they're not emo like the name sounds). They're an odd mix of metalcore, southern rock, hardcore and they've been doing it for nearly 20 years now. If you do check them out I'd love if you'd do something OTHER than Map Change or It Remembers, as that's what everyone reactions are too. The Coin Has a Say, Wanderlust, Revival Mode, anything. Thanks for the videos!
Nice to see you react to this! At least for me, this is one of the most iconic Norwegian metal songs along with Immortal - Withstand The Fall Of Time and Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace. Both are songs which I recommend for you. From Dimmu there are also the older songs that I like, not that good sound quality but the atmosphere... Stormblåst (or Stormblast for you English speaking folk) is my favorite song by Dimmu. Maybe even try the 2005 version, might be more to your liking with the better production value. There are some alterations compared to the original song, but I like both versions. In fact, we made a cover with my cousin that tries to combine the best of both versions :D Also guys, still waiting for some Moonsorrow reactions!! PLLEEEEAAASSEEE!!!!!
Haha I don't think the orchestra just turned up and thought "what's going on?" Man, they have to rehearse for weeks, months. The orchestra knew what was happening.
Thanks for the video! Mother North is a black metal hymn, one of their best songs if not THE best imo. And yeah there is no moshing in most black metal concerts it doesn't have the right rhythm for it I guess, but the headbanging was definitely missing in that crowd! A couple of suggestions: Emperor - I Am The Black Wizards (Live at Wacken) ua-cam.com/video/glKbRmOmB9M/v-deo.html Satyricon - The Pentagram Burns (Live at the Opera) ua-cam.com/video/CxHflTtp5Bg/v-deo.html
Please do Airbourne! ... Kick ass rocknroll from Australia, AC/DC hard edge style! :D Should in general do more hard rock, I think =) But great reaction, none the less!
+A&P-REACTS Great channel!!! More Satyricon, Napalm Death and one very rare one-man project called Morgul! Check out Morgul album The Scetch Of Supposed Murderer(2001) Especially songs like Machine (at 4.08 solo is just superb), Dead For A While, Violent Perfect Illusions...all the best to You and Your channel!!! Hello from Ukraine!!!
The studio version without the choir is better in my opinion. The black metal aspect comes through more powerful and primal. The vocals are better too. The live version sounds like it could be Dimmu Borgir. Still great though!
Sorry to bother with another message, but it seems your son might like to get into playing the guitar or bass. Just to try it maybe? I know I always had an interest for those string instruments, but I've always been shy to "learn" them by the usual teacher - at least when I was younger. So uh if he likes the instrument, just let him try? Who knows, he might be the Alexi of tomorrow! :D Anyways, have a good time! Another Edit: Frost is a phenomenal drummer, I agree. What might've been wrong with the crowd might be the location? I guess this was at "Den Norske Opera & Ballett" in Oslo, so basically it was "THE" location for classic music and opera in Norway. So some people might've hesitated to go "all out" here.
Hi, that's great to hear, I wish him all the best on his guitar journey! Sorry for the late answer, we've had some internet/telephone problems over here... Somehow you got me hooked, usually I don't mind reaction channels but well, it's about metal, musicality, lyrics and all, so I guess I'll watch a lot of your videos. I'm very happy about the exclusive interviews (Jari, wow!). I guess you know about E331 rock? I think a reaction to some of his covers might be great, too - if you have the time of course. Greetings from Germany, Ossel
in these times the crowds in most of gigs absolutely sucks why they don't stay at home and read some book instead of ruining this concert recordings? anyway great reaction guys
Wow I've been seeing your reactions for a while you have gotten a new Subscriber fucking awesome since I saw how much u guys were digging those Blast Beats I recommend u guys pls react to Dark Funeral Where Shadows Forever Reign. Also Black Metal is not necessarily for moshing just bands like straight pure black metal like 1st and 2nd wave black metal bands from Norway and Sweden that's how it's supposed to be bro black metal is for headbanging and really enjoying a show but I do see what mean no one in the crowd really headbanged but about the moshing thing yeah that's normal dude you don't really Mosh at Black metal shows Moshing is more common for Thrash Speed Power Traditional Heavy metal Death metal and even Doom. But not Black Metal also depending the Black metal band.
The Norwegian National Opera Chorus is a professional group, so if you pay them they'll sing... probably... :)) (it seems they kinda enjoyed it too, at the end of the vid). Old Satyricon is good., but I think the choir is kinda overused here... I mean, the original has keys with samples as vocals in it (those aaahs... or ooohs... cause that what they do, all the vid's lenght), why add another layer? And it's used also in other parts where in the original it's absent... Maybe... to emphasize even more some moments? I guess? I don't know, I just don't like the way they did it here... It doesn't add anything new to the original which is great the way it is. Moshing on black metal is... uhm... hm... I don't know. I like that you chose (from time to time) some real great ones that an ass like me can also listen to. Keep 'em coming... hopefully.
And just for the record: you said the crowd was abit tame. This was recorded on the Norwegian opera house . You are not suppose to Even stand at the end of the songs . Hehe. BTW . The choir had lots of practice with satyricon . Listen to the original . Better
Frost (the drummer) is insane one of the best drummer in the business...
Yup. One of the greatest and most famous black metal drummers.
Hands down he’s fucking insane sometimes
Frost is the best no doubt but Hellhammer is also amazing
Infernos better than both as far as sheer technical skill
Probably one of the best black metal songs. And Frost, the drummer, is a beast
You are one of the few reaction channels who actually have good content.
Thank you for the kind words!!!
So true
Yes, father and son, both really get into every song they listen to.
You might also want to check Drop Z: Spilling the Tea, she not a big channel, pretty new... But she is epic. 100% real and invested.
I think you're absolutely right there. Both, Dad and Son seem to love the music and know what to listen for.
I told them the same on a different song :)
Now this is a classic. Gods bless you for sharing this. Frost is Legend.
That fukking riff!!!
Great reaction! Nice to see your son enjoyed a black metal song, because I never saw he likes any extreme metal. And Mother North is a true black metal hymn!
He likes Carach Angren a lot...but that is about it I think...
How have you not yet done Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace? Wacken version is kewl with an orchestra too, album version is great too.
Ana198 I second this.Lets vote for this song everyone...💪
We have tested the Wacken and it was copyright blocked. There is always an explanation
Album version then, it's still the best Dimmu song out there.
I will test it
Holy shit, I had never listened to Satyricon, but they seem awesome! You guys should check out a band called Moonsorrow! Songs "huuto" or "muinaiset" might be a good place to start.
This particular song is what converted me to black metal. More than 10 years ago :)
Ah Moonsorrow, I've always more of a "Kylan Pääsä"-fan myself, but they've recorded some great songs.
My favorite to from Moonsorrow, perfect balance!
Aka, the show in which Frost went full Frost lol Some people hate when he starts blasting the drums faster than he should, but I like it.
One of my happiest memories is watching Satyricon live when they came to India. Most black/death metal bands dont. Thank u for this reaction.
they where actually rules that they had to sit the whole show, because of it was in the opera :( but the band asked then to stand after a few songs ,so i think thats why they are taking it easy
Moshing is viewed as "trendy" in the black metal scene, especially in the Nordic countries.
It`s the norwegian opera choir(det norske operakor), the only professional choir in Norway, with the organizer Kjetil Bjerkestrand.
In response to your comment about the crowd just standing there. I've heard from some band friends that's just what a lot of European people do at shows but they are in fact enjoying themselves. Also defo worth looking into, as they are one of the "first" among the Norwegian Black Metal wave in the 90s
This concert was performed in the Oslo Opera, and is only naturally seats in the theatre. Moshing and really going at it in there is difficult ;)
This was at the national opera house with just seating places.. the choire is the Norwegian Broadcasting "company" (like the BBC)
Great video and reaction by you two! Your channel is so awesome and appreciate the love of metal you share with your son. Cheers and Hails!!! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Yes please. More black metal is great in my book!
Do getaways by dimmu borgir. They both come from norway. I have seen satyricon live in halden norway
Yes! Frost is one of my favorite drummers!
Great reaction guys! Dark Medieval Times is definitely my favorite album by them. Such a masterpiece.
hey guys, you should check Nigtwish's bass player Marco Hietala's band.... the name of the band is Tarot and the song is "wings of darkness"
Probably already said and u might know. But this is one of early black metal bands (from Norway), 1991. So old school hehe :)
7:31 you were properly impressed !! One of the greatest songs .
Absolutely amazing song and performance. If the show in Toronto was all ages we would go...this 19+ sucks balls.
I love your reaction videos because they are different.
You're not displaying a shocked kid but the lack of age in metal music.
Chapeau.
Thanks for appreciating.
Nice to see you guys reacting to good old blackmetal bands like Satyricon. Check the whole consert. It kicks ass!!! 👍
He said "amazing to play for all you people! Thank you!" And then he honours the opera choir.
Awesome band. Gonna see them live in June. \m/
this is a black metal masterpiece mastered in a concert!
sorry if someone has commented this before, i dont have the patience to look through all the comments, but the reason that all the audience was silent/quiet wathever, was that this was performed in the national opera in norway. so it would be like average business joe went to a concert. if this to be a "normal" satyricon concert, the crowd would be mental
Great band, good discovery guys. Don't forget about Orden Ogan - The Gunman. Awesome channel guys !
My Dying Bride - The Dreadful Hours (Sinamorata)
I concur.
That´s why all the metal bands love to tour in central and south America the people goes insane in every show
Advent Sorrow - Pestilence Shall Come
Fantastiche show. Satyricon always great
1349 same Drummer
its frost. he played in alot of bands.
Satyricon is big here in Norway.
Spectacular performance.
The audienced ´behaved´ because Satyricon played at the opera in Oslo, also people in Oslo are bit more chill when it comes to Black Metal music. And it was rehearsed, in fact, many times actually xD

pls react to: Emperor - The Loss And Curse Of Reverence
A lot of rehearsals are involved with a show like this so the choir had probably played this song half a dozen times before they did this show so it probably wasn’t too much of a shock haha
I rather think the opposite is way more funny, while your point is most likely correct.
9:16 Beauty (Lady from choir) and the Beast (Frost)
You should go and see the show when they come close to your place, because Satyricon announced it might be their last North American tour, so you may never get another chance.
This song is one of the best BM songs ever written - sadly from their last good album...
I went down the rabbit hole of reactions to Crystal Lake - Apollo and found about you guys a few weeks ago. Love the content! August burns red- back burner 🤘
Different, but I liked it............ The choir and how he directed the audience was cool!
Nice to see you react to this! At least for me, this is one of the most iconic Norwegian metal songs along with Immortal - Withstand The Fall Of Time and Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace. You should have reacted to the original video of Mother North, without the opera

Satyricon - The Pentagram Burns (Live at the Opera) ua-cam.com/video/CxHflTtp5Bg/v-deo.html
I have this DVD, but I've only watched it the once.
Please do Airbourne! ... Kick ass rocknroll from Australia, AC/DC hard edge style! :D Should in general do more hard rock, I think =)

Crowd are Norwegians, they dont show emotions. If you get an hint of an reaction, you touched them =P
Can you do some Stone Sour reactions?
We have done 2

Maybe you must do a reaction from the legend : Bathory - One Rode To Asa Bay.
Frost aka the The Beast

Dark Funeral Where Shadows Forever Reign.
Also Black Metal is not necessarily for moshing just bands like straight pure black metal like 1st and 2nd wave black metal bands from Norway and Sweden that's how it's supposed to be bro black metal is for headbanging and really enjoying a show but I do see what mean no one in the crowd really headbanged but about the moshing thing yeah that's normal dude you don't really Mosh at Black metal shows

Plz react to children of bodom everytime i die now
That would be awesome.
Silent Night Bodom Night would be amazing too.
All songs of cob would be awesome
they cant mosh in opera as the seats are in the way
You can at least move your head a few times to acknowledge you are alive.
Malevolence- self supremacy
Guys, please react to SATYRICON-PHOENIX. :)
That venue has seats so they cant mosh.
That makes sense....
Yeah i do agree that they still could have been more animated and headbanging. Great review by the way.
The Norwegian National Opera Chorus is a professional group, so if you pay them they'll sing... probably... :)) (it seems they kinda enjoyed it too, at the end of the vid).
Old Satyricon is good., but I think the choir is kinda overused here... And it's used also in other parts where in the original it's absent... Maybe... to emphasize even more some moments? I guess? I don't know, I just don't like the way they did it here... Now go on and show your son the original video of the song featuring Monica Bråten :D Maybe a reaction video? dis gon b gud.

If you can, React to russian band Ария, song called Колизей
He be looking like varg vikernes
And just for the record: you said the crowd was abit tame. This was recorded on the Norwegian opera house . You are not suppose to Even stand at the end of the songs . Hehe. BTW . The choir had lots of practice with satyricon . Listen to the original . Better
Hellyeah! Digging this song and your reaction to it! Here is another great band and song...
ua-cam.com/video/hwUjJHCwCPg/v-deo.html
Pls react to amon amarth the victorious march ( live Bloodshed over Bochum)
Satyricon is very clean and cut and unique. But a little bit too sterile and minimalist. I mean, an awsome guitar solo here and there wouldn`t hurt.
For crying out loud CHOOSE!!!! Air Guitar OR Air Drums!!! NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!!!!
