@@LittleRedDot hey, i loved your character in the series and i love that game. I want to start a game with my friends but i have 0 idea on where to start or how to get a game started/together. Any tips on to start or where to begin?
Yeah, her character is rather cliche and annoying so far. I'm hoping she becomes more nuanced because the whole "penis bad" thing almost makes me hope she meets the sun. So annoying.
Mitch I get that. I am 19 episodes in and I mostly like her character. It's just a couple of times where I rolled my eyes so far back into my head that I could see my brain. Of course, this is a critique of the character and not the player. *spoiler* especially when it came to her test for Mark. Don't get me wrong, dude did wrong but, given the point where she freaked out it makes me wonder whether a woman would have been treated the same. Carnage is cool, given the genre, in some ways it's preferable, but the rationalization is flawed for Dakota.
I know it's a super old comment, but I agree. I like listening to this stuff in the back ground but other people are usually so extraordinarily over the top edgy hot topic employee types it's hard to listen to. Totally different here, for the better
@@DCPTF2 You do know that one can appreciate character flaws for their (potential) narrative value in a story even when one wouldn't be fine with anything even close to that sort of behaviour IRL, right? Wheather you personally like it or not (and I personally do find that "50s caricature of feminist based around the idea that feminist= hating men" is a character trait/conflict source that was stale before it even began), there's a reason why flawless characters are very much a bad idea and what's a good flaw from a narrative perspective can be highly subjective. Also, you keep claiming the actor is somehow a terrible person up and down the comment section, yet you never provide any evidence or detail beyond "I'm saying she's sexist, racist and horrible all around and I expect everyone to believe me even though at least a cursory glance at her social media suggests the opposite". So, I'm not gonna say that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, but having ANY evidence would be nice.
34:00 *Regnant* for someone who has bound another being by blood, and *Thrall* for the one being bound. *If* they are mortal (human or beast) then they are also a *Ghoul* with abilities of the Blood, and their master is called a *Domitor* .
Bit late to the party, but for what it's worth, those capacitive gloves have some metal thread mixed into the regular fabric weave in the fingertips. So yeah, you could use them even if your skin was completely dry.
Thanks for the disclosures at the beginning about being bad people and not heroes. I like these stories but I know these can be sensitive matters for some.
OK i've just discovered this and i see from the recommendations that these kindred lasted long enough to start a second story. HOW? When it just took them an age of the earth to get into a humans locked apartment! Hilarious, love it! :-)
Another thing about Obscuration: if you activate it when someone turns around and then turns back, they will still see you. You have to activate when you are alone, when others don't know you're there, or the thing will not work. If they know you where there one second ago, you can not fool them. Then, if you talk to somebody, even whispering, the obscuration goes off (again, because they will know you are there).
Not in 5e actually. It's vague, but they specifically state that whispering doesn't actually break it. As per the rule book "The Discipline does have limits: the illusion fails if the observer cannot ignore the user or if the user backs the observer into a corner. A vampire blocking a doorway cannot be ignored by someone trying to move through it. Likewise violent action jeopardizes the facade, as does actions like raised voices, failed pickpocket attempts, and weapons raised to strike. Whispering without breaking Obfuscate is still possible". I'm not clear on how it worked in VTM prior, but in 5e it's more adjustable. Unless I'm missing it, you no longer need to be alone to activate it, just able to be ignored. But as with most of VTM 5e, it's vague enough for each ST to interpret as needed :)
Oh, so it's a V5 thing. I'm looking forward to buy the V5 book, but I already know that I'm going to take just what I like from there and mix it with what I like from the V20 version. I like the new Hunger thing a lot!
You know, I was afraid the character of Oliver "Butcher" Hopkins would be overly cringy and trying to be a badass, but really, over the course of the game session he did become my favorite guy in the group, someone you'd root for. Great video all around!
man i miss this show, hopefully season 3 comes out eventually. crazy to see how much the characters evolved (and the players knowledge of WoD) throughout the series.
AHHHHH! I freaked out when I saw this! I can't wait to follow this series! Mathas being the Dm thoooooo. I keep getting blown away by these people. They are absolutely great oh my god. Maybe this will satisfy my need for Just Around the Corner. And just as a quick nudge, play the song Sound of Silence sometime haha. But thank you for making this, I can't wait to see how this goes. Im thrilled.
Im curious to know the backstory of the twins. Given how differently Zach acts, I don’t see them being of the same clan- how did two siblings get embraced by two different sires, let alone two different clans?
Vampires should be able to use touch screens; it's not based on heat but electric capacitance or resistance and even dead flesh has capacitance or resistance. Now if one of them was a Lasombra vampire then that is different.
11:10 "A retainer is a ghoul". Not so. A retainer CAN be a ghoul, and a ghoul CAN be a retainer, but this is not always the case. You may have non-ghoul retainers, and not all ghouls are retainers
So.... I'm a be honest, I miss the days of EE, Splat, Aavak and Shen, and I stopped watching this channel.... I am currently kicking myself repeatedly for not seeing this sooner! Yes, more yes! I love MAthas as a GM, the characters play off eachother so well, EE is just chilling! And Butcher is just slowly winning me over like only one other RPG character has! Is it Sunday yet?
why did ava try to do intimate contact with the target's husband/boyfriend when she could have just gotten him to open it from a normal human's methods of opening the door.....
I was really confused about that too, but thinking on it. If she's a good player, that could have been completely in character as a lick. She seems to have been train to be the social seductress and being that she isnt even a neo-nate yet I could see this being a in character moment of "the character would do this, because they dont have the experience that shows them another way."
Miss magitek really wasn’t being smart about the break in, she basically just said he called her then said he was wrong and definitely did, don’t understand how she’s think that would work and then just let’s him know she’s in the house
Haven't finished the video so I'm not sure this is a SPOILER but my theory on player clans : E.E. & MISS Magic : malkavin L.R.D.: Gangrel The Bubberknunt : Gosh I dont know yet but I want to say gangrel or deva based on additude or passion depending ( sorry if I misspelled that)
Ghostneedle1 somehow i literally just discovered it 2 days ago, and I can say it 100 percent did. It obviously a level above due to the familiarity the players have with their characters and the fact that they are all amazing voice actors
Ghostneedle1 of course, only way to do it. I’m a bit annoyed because I’ve already stumbled upon kinda spoiler comments and stuff. A lot of stuff about Orion which was a downer because I really enjoy his character
Ghostneedle1 No, CR simply used the foundation established by others. This show is also far less of a slapstick romp so I'd say it is aimed at a fundamentally different demographic.
Lasombra maybe? Though having a sabbat bloodline in camarilla territory would be dangerous... Edit: Obfuscation actually isn't a lasombra discipline, so never mind.
I'm pretty sure Hopkins is an Assamite, because unless the disciplines are radically changed, that silence power he's been using is part of the unique discipline that they get. Also, Zach is definitely a Malkavian. If I'm wrong, and Hopkins actually is one of the three clans that he mentioned (which he probably listed as a deflection), then my guess is Nosferatu.
Chris Wolfe ah right, sorry not as familiar with vampire the masquerade. I thought zach was toreador because of the way he looked and the fact Ava didn’t seem to act Malkavian.
Dakota probably, if I'm to guess... City Gangrel. Hopkins... Unless they changed, Assamites have dark skin, he described his character as looking frozen or opaque, which fits with Lasombra, they are meant to look pale... but do they exist in modern? I seem to remember them getting killed off pretty much. Maybe a Tzimice... they're sadistic and could fit with the Butcher moniker, but if I was to make a bet, maybe Brujah?. Zach... fairly Malkavian in behavior, could be a ruse. :P Ava has all the hallmarks of a Toreador.
by the way dead bodies still have an electrical capacity to their skin (which is the most common way of touch screen sensors), so there should be nothing preventing a kindred from utilizing a touch screen unless we're talking e.g. some kind of fancy biometric handprint sensor that measures body temperature and/or pulse. then again the corebook clearly states they don't work because of "the skin moisture and conductivity", but i mean most kindred shouldn't be mummified right? so unless it's actually measuring surface conductivity (which most screens wouldn't) you don't need skin moisture, you just need some kind of water content (such as vitae) to your fingers.
in Storyteller systems you generate a dice pool of d10s, using them, you generate successes, I haven't seen the latest edition so I'm not sure if the targets have been changed
Your pool is comprised of a number of d10's usually equal to an Attribute + an Ability+hunger dice, though that can vary, if so it is stated. Each d10 that comes up 6 or better is a success, 10's are special. Every pair of 10's you get gives you 2 extra successes. So 2,4,6,10,10,10 would be 6 successes. 2,4,6,10 would be 2. The more difficult your action the more success you need, from 1 (hitting a stationary target) to 7 (flawlessly recite a long text in a language you don't speak). Hunger dice introduce messy criticals and there's other things like spending willpower for re-rolls, but that's the crux of the system.
Anyone else notice the similarities between the opening premise and the one Mathas used in the VtR Bloodlust game? Powerful vamp using the PCs with permission of their sires to do some task to earn their release from their sires’ control. Apparently it’s Mathas’ version of “you all meet in a tavern” for Vampire games.
It definitely is my goto for new Vtm players haha. Without a great understanding of the lore, walking the players through it at a steadier pace this way is my fall back.
Wow! The first episode has so many views in comparison to others. Totally deserved I must say!!! It's worth it to watch on this show only gets better :)
Great roleplaying, like it! The storyteller should be up to date with V5 rules and basic mechanics, though: 1. Vampires don't need to be invited into residential homes (was corrected later by EnterElysium), 2. If I'm not mistaken, critical success (10) counts as 2 successes (at least according to quickstart rules) - Enter Elysium stated differently, though, so please cross-check, 3. Licking the wound will in fact heal it even if the victim has just died: This is a feature of the vampiric "saliva", not a healing property of the victim's body.
EE was doing alot of hiding and sneaking, and he was fucking nuts, im betting on Malk, This is also, OWoD so Nosferatu are actually horrific in appearance, boils and pointy ears and horrible teeth, not something a mask hides
ava and zach are twins so being separate clans is very unlikely and the fact they are embraced together is not a camarilla thing tbh. and assamite is not a pillar clan which the core book only covers he is definitely a nos.
Bahoogasfaga Bahoogasfaga I'm still suspicious about the Nos theory, even in the art his body is not visibly deformed in any way, his neck and lower jaw look good and his voice lacks the scratchy horribleness that is typical for Nos
@@thedapperlad7148 Its a lvl1 obfuscate power. I got the pdf. I had to read and answer some of my own questions. though I am less inclined to believe the twins are the same clan now.
So since this came out 4 months ago the four are, from my guess, Nosferatu, Gangrel, Malkavian, and Toreador. Since the sourcebook only has the base 7 clans I can only assume these as none of them seem like Followers of Set or Tremer or Ventrue
So far, I'm seriously with the "Butcher". He looks like a very dear friend of mine named Ghoul Shadows, the King of Australia and ruling body of the Court of Brisbane and House of Lore/Solaris (honorary), Australia. Real Vampire Community.

@@LittleRedDot hey, i loved your character in the series and i love that game. I want to start a game with my friends but i have 0 idea on where to start or how to get a game started/together. Any tips on to start or where to begin?
It's really creepy how in character LRD is, I like it.
Dakota casually talking to the 7'' tall burley guy about how much she hates manly guys is... strange
Typically of women players. God forbid you play a rapist-piquerism vamp though.
Gangrel, dont take shit from anybody, tend to have bad communication skills, right up there in strength with the nos and the brujah
Yeah, her character is rather cliche and annoying so far. I'm hoping she becomes more nuanced because the whole "penis bad" thing almost makes me hope she meets the sun. So annoying.
John Jaeger they said this game would be quite.. interesting with adult themes.
In trying not to fuck up a home invasion. Courtier immediately overthinks and fucks up home invasion.
But EE.... I like my darkness with a side of heresy

@@tzimiscelord8483 or the rare amenti who proceeds to rip your lungs out...
Dang. The characters seem actually pretty cool without being overly edgy. First time I've seen anyone play Vampire that isn't cringy to watch.
Nice to imagine Ava in the middle of the filthy alley WITHOUT her shoes.
What a great cast of characters. Good GM too, glad I stumbled on this.
I’m in loooove with Butcher/Oliver’s voice

Thanks
Gonna run 5th edition myself next month so this was great for inspiration. The whole cast is great, but Dakota is my favorite for sure.
Sees intro "I'm gonna like this"
Another thing about Obscuration: if you activate it when someone turns around and then turns back, they will still see you.
As per the rule book
"The Discipline does have limits: the illusion fails if the observer cannot ignore the user or if the user backs the observer into a corner.
This series has some of the best roleplaying ive seen so far from Roll4it
You know, I was afraid the character of Oliver "Butcher" Hopkins would be overly cringy and trying to be a badass, but really, over the course of the game session he did become my favorite guy in the group, someone you'd root for.
2:16:55 you put away the spray paint and make the bloods gang symbol in his blood
Finding this now, Dakota is such a train wreck, then again the coterie is baby. Hearing them trying to find the correct rules
i like the production value of this, nicely done :)
Everyone else has timestamped already, so I'll just say HYYYYPEEEEEE
;)
God damn EE. Those contacts really bring out your features o.O
they really do make him look like a vampire
Finally, an evil campaign, I have yet to come across one. Let's give it a go 😎
This isn´t an evil campagin!!! Nobody considers themselves evil! Have you looked at our caps recently? ua-cam.com/video/hn1VxaMEjRU/v-deo.html
Im curious to know the backstory of the twins. Given how differently Zach acts, I don’t see them being of the same clan- how did two siblings get embraced by two different sires, let alone two different clans?
All good questions. Dakota has been pondering that herself.
I didn't even notice that Ava and Zach are related until I three hours in. Wow I'm dumb
I love the fact that everyone is cosplaying their character.
Vampires should be able to use touch screens; it's not based on heat but electric capacitance or resistance and even dead flesh has capacitance or resistance. Now if one of them was a Lasombra vampire then that is different.
Mechanically you have to Rouse The Blood
Wow this was really good! These players are really attentive and the dm is really impressive
11:10 "A retainer is a ghoul". Not so. A retainer CAN be a ghoul, and a ghoul CAN be a retainer, but this is not always the case. You may have non-ghoul retainers, and not all ghouls are retainers
I think Dakota might be an Ahrimane, Butcher is a Nosferatu or Brujah, Zach is either a Malkavian or Tremere, and Ava is either Toreador or Tremere.
>7 foot tall high strenght high brawl Nos
He's a big guy for me.
Shame Dakota did not go for him.
Maybe he was too big for her. Besides, she would have to take off his mask first, and that would have been extremely painful.
For her
Oliver has such a voice. I dunno why but I love it.
why did ava try to do intimate contact with the target's husband/boyfriend when she could have just gotten him to open it from a normal human's methods of opening the door.....
Darren Ng sometimes we forget the easy way of doing thing if we are used to it being complex.
When you have a hammer...
I was really confused about that too, but thinking on it. If she's a good player, that could have been completely in character as a lick. She seems to have been train to be the social seductress and being that she isnt even a neo-nate yet I could see this being a in character moment of "the character would do this, because they dont have the experience that shows them another way."
This serves to remind me to put coin on the homeless ones during my nightly walks... just to avoid becoming lunch for a night walker.
Sometimes it's nice to relax and crack open a boy with the cold ones.
Miss magitek really wasn’t being smart about the break in, she basically just said he called her then said he was wrong and definitely did, don’t understand how she’s think that would work and then just let’s him know she’s in the house
Haven't finished the video so I'm not sure this is a SPOILER but my theory on player clans :
E.E. & MISS Magic : malkavin
L.R.D.: Gangrel
The Bubberknunt : Gosh I dont know yet but I want to say gangrel or deva based on additude or passion depending ( sorry if I misspelled that)
Are Deva a thing in OWoD?
No. Daeva are a mix of Toreador and Brujah, if I remember correctly. But they are ONLY a Requiem clan, as opposed to Masquerade clan.
Just binged stich of fate and youtube recomended me this im like THANK YOU UA-cam and you guys aswell
Isn't the whole not entering a place of residence without permission a folklore flaw? They are treating it like it is a core rule...
later in the episode they correct it
I came across your channel about a week ago and I'm loving everything you guys are doing!
i always end my sessions with 'questions, comments, concerns?' lol
Oh Another wholesome show. I mean by roll4it standarts
EE blackberry didn't go out of business they just switched to the Android operating system they still make phones XD
I'd like to think that Critical Role paved the way for these kinds of shows to become successful.
Ghostneedle1 somehow i literally just discovered it 2 days ago, and I can say it 100 percent did. It obviously a level above due to the familiarity the players have with their characters and the fact that they are all amazing voice actors
I almost envy you. You've got months and months of great entertainment to watch assuming you're also going to watch campaign 1
Ghostneedle1 of course, only way to do it. I’m a bit annoyed because I’ve already stumbled upon kinda spoiler comments and stuff. A lot of stuff about Orion which was a downer because I really enjoy his character
Ghostneedle1
No, CR simply used the foundation established by others.
This show is also far less of a slapstick romp so I'd say it is aimed at a fundamentally different demographic.
If you think CR is purely a slapstick romp then you're misinformed.
You guys are so great! Thank you for this. Great GM and roleplayers. Loved Dakota.
I’m rather curious what bloodline each is, Dakota is a Gangrel but I suspect the twins are toreador, not sure what Hopkins is
nosferatu maybe?
Is there a podcast/audio download version? My main time to listen to this sort of thing is commuting but I drive so I can't watch videos
@Hrafn Skald on their patreon apparently they do the MP3 files for all their shows for $1 a month
EE is playing evil aint that his usual charming self only amplefied ? XD
geridionarus He finally has a character able to unleash the DM side....
about halfway through, really enjoying it
For someone who has never played vampire the masquerade, can you explain what determines the success of a roll in this system?
in Storyteller systems you generate a dice pool of d10s, using them, you generate successes, I haven't seen the latest edition so I'm not sure if the targets have been changed
Kevin L thank you for responding
Kevin L It's not as complicated as it sounds, right? Right?!
Not that bad, all told. At least it isn't THAC0.
I didn't think it would be as trippy to hear my name, as a character, as it was
Hello Butcher!
Oh... To restart again... I will refuse to end this most awesome of shows. Also now I can miss the only proper wizard again
Me again. Still miss EE
I hope that it runs longer than blood lust
I think it’s VtM version of “you all meet at a tavern” I’ve seen a few campaigns use it. 😜
The proper term for a Vampire who has created or bonded a ghoul is or at least used to be Domitor (as of V:TM revised, not sure if it changed for V5)
Wow! The first episode has so many views in comparison to others. Totally deserved I must say!!! It's worth it to watch on this show only gets better :)
Well played by Zach in that last scene.
Zach has a robe of useful things
Great roleplaying, like it! The storyteller should be up to date with V5 rules and basic mechanics, though: 1. Vampires don't need to be invited into residential homes (was corrected later by EnterElysium), 2. If I'm not mistaken, critical success (10) counts as 2 successes (at least according to quickstart rules) - Enter Elysium stated differently, though, so please cross-check, 3. Licking the wound will in fact heal it even if the victim has just died: This is a feature of the vampiric "saliva", not a healing property of the victim's body.
Yea, I was worried the must be invited rule was me and I missed it in 5e
Just stumbled upon this. Very nice.
fyi point blank shot lol damn
Best line ever " Bolster my ass" classic
So is no one gonna talk about how he threatened to drink him like a Capri Sun?
Bub = Nos
EE and Magitek = Toreador
Red Dot = Gangrel
Bahoogasfaga Bahoogasfaga Really? I thought silent step was a talent or trait or whatever it's called
So since this came out 4 months ago the four are, from my guess, Nosferatu, Gangrel, Malkavian, and Toreador. Since the sourcebook only has the base 7 clans I can only assume these as none of them seem like Followers of Set or Tremer or Ventrue
Can anyone clue me in on where this music came from? I'd love to include it in my own chronicle.
So far, I'm seriously with the "Butcher". He looks like a very dear friend of mine named Ghoul Shadows, the King of Australia and ruling body of the Court of Brisbane and House of Lore/Solaris (honorary), Australia. Real Vampire Community.
7 month old video I know but
2:54:20 That's the description of the Clan Brujah symbol, not Anarch Movement symbol. Anarch looks almost like the symbol of Venus.
I can tell I am going to like this one as much as the last game. I love the warning at the begining "We are not going to be the heros" I hope this wonderful cast has fun. Vampire the Masquerade is a wonderful game. Also I just have to add TheBubbernaut impressed me the most with his cosplay. Previous game, friendly, cheerful author; this game terrifying brute. So excited to see how this game goes. Awesome job guys!!
Just came here off of Stitch of Fate, and while I'm gonna miss Max and Duke...I'm excited to listen to more of what you have to offer~
So now I'm obsessed with finding out how many cats you're all good for 😂 at least 5, that I know for sure
Very nice, I like the characters and have an idea of what clan each is, looking forward to next session.
Wow, this was great. Loved it and can' t wait to keep watching.
