i just wanna that when bombs explode on sites, it would destroy the bomb site. not just leave a big black circle there
And all the “physics objects” would fly around the map like they were launched from
a catapult
good times
Ye its fake af
Nice idea
Well... I just want the bomb to detonate the other 127 missiles everywhere.
There’s no way their explosions are that small xD
Yeah, like some of the first payload maps do in TF2

"Valve wants CS:GO to be an esport, and random, unlikely events will only get in the way of this goal."
Rainbow Six looms in the distance as a player is spawned into a wall during a pro game, an invisible 3 speed Tachanka suddenly appears behind you and whispers in your ear, "LMG mounted and loaded," as Blackbeard peeks you with an 800HP shield and one taps you.
Ah yes
As funny as your comment is, it's pretty disingenuous.
it's 7 months old
There's a reason for why CSGO competetive scene is big and rainbox six's isn't.
@@tralphstreet Yeah it's an older game from an already established competitive franchise?
We need more nade interaction.

I personally think that CONSISTENT dynamic environments are totally acceptable in competitive play
Ruining the game that's what it is

That's not what I mean dumbass , adding an elevator for example , you could easily abuse that
This is, a tasty burger translation: "I make broad argumentative statements that encompass areas of my own outlooks then proceed to tell people they are stupid when I get called out"
You didn't call me out you did infact make a stupid point. Doors have always been in counter strike and you know that.

"Remove as much random stuff as possible"
Coming from TF2 with random crits, I don't even care anymore.
Random crits are fair and balanced!
Actually many weapon remove them
ikagura Not really
In Competitive TF2 they removed Random Crits, they are enabled on Casual though
Nobody gives a shit about comp. TF2
Was playing inferno once and there were these two players on T side who just stayed and played tic tac toe at spawn the entire game
For casual, why not? For competitive? No.
+Retz I think they should do like 2 Competitives searches.
One with Physik Objects and one without.
+Xback It's Valve. THey will never do something untill they have an online, because people are still paying money.
Nexerade Tianshi
That is true
+Retz Still it's up to mappers and Valve to respectively say which maps are made and added to the official map pool, Valve should not overstep it's boundaries just because they can. Every time I advertised a CS game I said "get it, even if you're bored with regular FFA/team match there are a ton other game types to play" so not accepting them in official map pool is one thing, making it impossible for mappers is a totally different thing.
+Retz very good features can be put to competitive maps. just look at TFC, CS and old school COMPETITIVE games.
but you can destroy some doors.

4:15 I first played that map in 2009, its nice to know 3kilksphillip was the creator!
+Sean .Lyons I would play that map for hours. I loved it. I wish it was on CSGO :/
Nothing can top CS:S minigames though
what is the maps name? i want to play it too
+Dave the map's name is dslsn_smash or something like that
Red Fire Gaming ok thx
@@Jellyblob so sad that i didnt know about that map back in the time. i always played the nonsteam v34 version of css, cracked with working online servers, i played a lot of minigames and jailbreak servers. i wish i knew this map existed because it looks so fun too. just wanted to try to go back to those days, bought css from steam, downloaded it, and clicking the server browser button gave me an instant disappointment. there are almost no mg servers ( and the ones with mg maps had no players in them) or jailbreak servers. it was full of deathmatch, public or gungame servers. and this is probably why i love gmod so much, it has a lot of gamemodes.
The thing is... Random factors DO NOT make a game uncompetitive. Let's look at poker for example. Poker is a game that has A LOT of random factors. But in the end, with a long enough time frame, the better player wins. There are these things called variance and game sense. Pro player has to calculate the risk factor of his actions in a random environment. That is also a skill.
But there are limits to what can be done. İn card games there are only so much cards of the same type.and their function can't go beyond what is specified.
@@temkin9298 it's the same for csgo, there is a limit to the engine
Basketball....so in NBA games, if there was a lane through the middle of the court where people could walk towards the hotdog stand, would that be a good thing ? Because that fits your description - players would have to avoid random tourists, juggle the ball around them, sometimes using 2-3 people groups as an advantage, to avoid the opponent.
Poker ? "with a long enough time frame, the better player wins" - this statement is incorrect. The incorrect part is - "better player". That player is better only in a certain set of rules, which poker has right now. If the rules in poker, for instance, were substantially changed in order to have less randomness in the game, the "better" player that you're referring to, would probably not do so hot, and you'd have another player on top, who has a completely different mindset and work ethic.
People like you really amaze me. The answer why competitive games of any kind have quite strict rules that create "perfect" environments tie into our history as a humanity, science, future and many other pillars of progress for humankind. You're using this 2+2=4 logic model, with "more random events = more skill needed to evade them", which is a brutalist method that is incorrect in nearly every aspect of life. How is it possible that we have so many popular competitive games and people like you have no understanding what makes a game competitive. It's in the actual meaning of the word, "random" is an actual antonim to a word "competitive".
There is nothing to improve there, there is nothing to invent here. Thousands of years of human practice on certain ideas and concepts are not wrong - you trying to reinvent a circular wheel into a rectangular one and make it "work better" is what is WRONG.
@@Godl1ked Basketball would be way more entertaining and fun if it had what you described (as long as it was somehow safe). Being able to entirely predict what's going to happen well before anything starts makes things stale and repetitive. That's why sports are popular because of marketing, merchandising, and a weird affinity for ""your"" team. Not because people actually enjoy partaking, or playing the sport. (Just look how many non-sober people are at a baseball game)
With your poker statement, well, you say they're incorrect ONLY if you completely change what poker is in the first place, Of course whoever is considered the "better" player is going to change if you change all the rules. That's what makes a game or sport what it is, the rules and goals. How would poker even work if you were to "substantially change it to have less randomness"? That's all what poker is, that's where the variation comes from, that's what makes the last game different from the last.
Also HUGE citation needed for the whole "tied into out history as a humanity, science, future and many other pillars of progress for humankind" I don't think nature is as predictable as you think it is. And I don't think our entire human history followed a particular set of rules making life equally fair and competitive. Do you think randomness was invented? There is no objective definition of "skill". Skill has always, and will always be a subjective evaluation, no matter how general a consensus is. *You* can think that skill is being able to react faster than your opponent, while others can think it's how well someone can adapt to a changing environment. Neither of you are wrong, nor correct. There is no "true" definition. So stop pretending you're somehow above people because you think this super pure and streamlined version of a video game shows how "skilled" someone is over another.
just because something is skillful doesn't mean it's an interesting or valuable skill... you completely missed the point
that end though.
At least let the bomb sites be destructible by the C4.
Just like Payload maps blow up the red spawn area in TF2.
The flying physics objects could have collisions disabled so they don’t actually kill a player.
Or better, the entire thing could be a projectory like Portal 2’s intro (you’re not actually in that fake apartment, the player is in an different area entirely) just like the explosion could.
That would mean recreating the whole map's collision, not worth it
@@AmBush2048 not really, since the payload maps just use pre-done animations. You can just run an explosion in some other program, make it an animation. And add it to the map.
@@TheUplinkExperiment you're two years late
@@AmBush2048 yeah
we all know that deep inside our favorite part of hl2 was painting enemies
wat is happening
What? JSR doesn’t relate a thing to this
You can open the garage door in Office, that’s as interactive as it gets
I would love a game where your actions in the environment caused a huge role on who would win the game. If I accidentally ran into a barrel, big deal it's just a barrel right? But that barrel happens to fall over, roll down some stairs, get hit by a train, then get launched across the map into the Counter-Terrorist defusing the bomb, while everyone else is dead, and the Terrorists won. I would fucking love that game to death!
+AnEaglesGame That'd be awesome... and horrible. But funny.
+AnEaglesGame That wouldn't be fair tho. But it would be epic. I guess that's what valve doesn't want.
+Melioetta Zyguard Considering Competitive play is somewhat a serious thing, Valve definitely wouldn't want that. In CSS, where there wasn't a ranking system, it would definitely be viable. But the moment you put a goal for someone to achieve, and then have something random thwart his path, it would likely piss him right off. And the CSGO community already has a lot of salt in its system.
+AnEaglesGame that wouldn't involve skill. it would be pure luck
It can be skill but 99% of the time would be luck.
I'm against randomly triggered events out of players control, which get luck involved instead of skill. But i'm all for player triggered events like destroyable walls, Levolution. These events should have an advantage as well as a downfall, to not be overused nor obsolete. Destroyable Walls will waste time, ammo and gibe away your position, put open new flanking routes and make the game less repetitive, allow more adaptation to situations and more diverse gameplay.
I forgot this was a video from 5 years ago until I saw that rainbow footage, rainbow has definitely changed a lot more in 5 years than csgo.
Valve wants it to be about skill but refuses to use 128 tick CSGO comp servers
it's because most players can't play in 128 tick
+The Broble No it's because the eye can't see more than 64 fps.
playing on 128 tick servers makes the gameplay a lot smoother way easier for bhopping and the eye can actually see way more than 64 fps the brain can interpret thousands of frames a second and a human can accurately guess around 150 fps us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/7199031187

I meant $60 as in 60 US dollars, the only games that most people will pay $60 for is a console game (ex. console exclusive like Destiny)
The loss of the physics barrels saddens me greatly for some reason
I remember when I first got csgo my favorite map to play on with bots was office so I spent most of the round shooting out windows
This would be a great community game mode. A "death run style" 10v10, map, that are modified versions of the normal maps (dust 2, nuke, etc.) or even new community maps. 5 from each team (let's say T-A and CT-A) have to try to play normally. Kill, and complete the objectives. The rest of the players remaining (T-B and CT-B) are in a large room with control panels that trigger physics objects around the map. The two teams in this room however don't have any weapons, not even knifes. The aim of these teams are to mess around with the map, to stop the other side from winning.
You know what? I absolutely love your idea. I'm sold. If I ever make this, I'll be sure to quote your comment.

I just noticed that i know the bomb code by memory, even though i never explicitly tried to remember it, neat how you subconsciously categorize stuff you aren't conscious off
How did you make those breakable walls also have physics? I tried adding some into my map, but they can be passed through even without breaking them.
PS: please update your Source Tutorials. I still use them, but they're outdated.
3kliksphilip Thanks, but that's what I did and I can just walk through them. I used your "Fake DMM" tutorial for making glass, and I tried to apply it to a stone wall. I changed the material to stones, but that didn't change it much.
As to answer your question, the video quality, as well as your more detailed explanations. Your older videos lack the professionalism you have now.

+Viliam Vadocz True that :D
+Viliam Vadocz I agree, but is it really worth the update when Source 2 will be coming in the foreseeable future, and with it the Source 1 engine getting dropped?
Quinn Durlston-Powell It would probably be for the best if Philip waited and then redid everything for Source 2.
+Viliam Vadocz He created a tutorial a few years ago for glass. It pretty much shows how to made Fake DMM :)

Man, I have thousands of hours on Source. Very few of those are playing the actual game, a lot of them are on these minigames you talked about like smash (even the map you showed in the video, and said you made, if I'm not mistaken? Which is very cool.) Jail, climb, some battleship game mode I vaguely remember, horror maps and parkour maps and countless others. It's sad to hear these are being phased out in GO, even though I haven't played either game in a long time. I really connect with what you were saying in the latter half of the video. Very good video btw. Thanks for the nostalgia Phil.

-fix host/sever proximity privileges
-fix incredibly delayed matchmaking servers

So you made this smash map? Man I loved this map!
i miss flickering lights. you can't make a realistic fire or use candle-esque lights anymore. CSGO definitely has some disappointing aspects, but at the same time, some redeeming qualities as well. it's the main reason that my very first review on Steam was about how terrible CSGO was compared to CSS, and it's also the very same reason i deleted that review 6 months later... i wish we could find a happy middle ground... i hope Source 2 does this. Something like working elevators with enterable shafts, lights, dark maps made for nightvision goggles/flashlights and the return of the Riot Shield is all I think CS:GO needs to be complete.
your opinions always is good for everyone and never contradicts anyone it's amazing
I just wish they bring back Spray....
CS doesnt have to be everything. You can do this in other games.
+OneMillionandOne '-'
+OneMillionandOne especially in cs beta and css. oh wait, we need to remove specific CS features just because we can do them in other games. so much win!
+OneMillionandOne Surf, , KZ, RP,BA_Jail.. without this, cs would have died years ago
CS, like with most Valve engine games, have lived through modding and custom modes. Can you make a fun zombie infection mode outside of CS?
People like you and me, wanting breakable surroundings are welcome in battlefield, where from game to game more and more building are sensitive to explosives
What I miss were the massive explosion effects when the bomb blew in CS:S and 1.6. Like the map would get set on fire, massive shockwave, the bomb site had damage done to it (Brushes changed, etc to a "destroyed" state). Now the bomb blows, there's a big boom and cloud of smoke, but the bomb site underneath is intact like the bomb wasn't powerful enough or something. In Nuke the alarm still goes off when the c4 detonates but there's no sound, just some lights turn on.
5:35 how can I try this out? :O
+pkxd You need a Half Life 3 beta key.
+NapoleonBorn2party Heres hl3 beta key for steam , you need to guess the questionmarks tho: ?????-?????-?????
NapoleonBorn2party ??? wat
+pkxd You can't mate. He just modified the map by adding a new corridor behind the door and making the door destructible :p
+pkxd Don't listen to Robert, Napoleon is correct. You can only get one illegally without Valve's permission. Just google. HL3 Beta Key code. then enter it in on your redeem code page on steam. The game he was playing wasn't actually CSGO, it was a map that came w/ the beta. A lot of little secrets are in the beta. I wouldn't be surprised if this video got taken down by Valve, because I'm pretty sure it's illegal to upload footage of the beta...

Dear Philip, i've got a question for you.
I've always wondered, if i were to have a colorful cs:go skin, will it make me morse visible? For example in dark corners.
Please respond, and have a good one.
Valve 100% did this on purpose in my opinon. And I don't know if i agree that none of these features can't work on comp or that having them is somehow unfair. If everyone can do it and it adds depth that doesn't mean it's unfair. It seems they are more intrested in over simpifying everything rather then fixing the boken aspects of thoes cool features. Innovation for them has died in terms of fun advancements. From now on all valve will do is making cookie cutter money grabbing stuff. StatTrack Music tracks? Come on.
nice lighting contrast in the snow map you flow around in (:
3:50 .I jumped into a community server the other day and seen this map. It was the infinity version, and it looked amazing to me and got me back into making maps for CSGO. Until I heard that you intentionally made it where the players could leave the map, I thought it was a unfinished map that accidently landed into the server rotation, but still looked good anyways.
Speaking of, without your tutorial videos on making maps, I probably wouldn't have started map making.

"Valve wants csgo to be a viable e-sport and random unlikely events will only get in the way of this goal."
Enter: The 2015 Winter Update.
Yeah right.
Mirage already has some stuff like this. The two vents leading into sniper's nest and the wallbang spots in connector and aps sort of serve this purpose. But maybe a wall you can blow open with an HE grenade or enough gunfire, so a team has to stay on their toes for potential pushes from a direction they can't watch into. That might serve an interesting purpose in a competitive map.

Imagine having the bridge in overpass collapsing with debri flying for miles after a successful bomb plant that would be so appealing to watch while still being fair
You are spot on about the slight neglectance of the custom game modes. I would love to have more Superhero-mod or WC3-mod servers. They are almost impossible to come by in CS:GO and the antiquated search tool doesn't really help.
The ending was nice
That ending dear god that was amazing.
The map that changed layout was amazing man
