  • In this video Jay shows you another way to avoid poke-through using a tool called the Push Modifier. It will let Daz Studio push the surface of an object outwards along the normals. This can be useful to expand an item of clothing away from the figure if it interferes with the figure in multiple places. This is not a perfect solution for every occasion, but may provide value in certain situations. Enjoy!

Depending the morphology of the Genesis model and the cloth, I use a mix of push modifier and if there is still some poke, I tilt a bit the surface parameter of the cloth until everything is fine. It works like a charm.

    Excellent Tip.
I was having some trouble with an armored suit today.
    I'll try this.

Thanks a lot, just what I need right now!
BTW: regarding the normal pointing, Iray is, to the best of my knowledge, the only raytracer capable of shading both sides of the normal with different materials. It has to be one shader, though. MDL just needs to address 'surface', the "outside" and 'backface', as the "inside". This allows to create very interesting objects. (Page 42 in my MDL Handbook)

So it's actually an "Expand all" but not as a morph technically!
