Congrats on the 5K subscribers. Nice gift too. I just bought that same kit because I needed another cordless drill and thought a impact driver would be nice to have. The winner of this kit will have some cool tools. I am not going to enter, but to everyone else Good luck. And merry Christmas to all...Cheers
Dan, I really appreciate that. I have a lot of content for videos, just hard to find the time to put the videos together. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. Gary
Great job there Gary. I remember seeing the maintenance guys doing compression tests on the Worthington and Ingersol Rand compressors in the evil polluting chemical plant. Keep on keeping on.
Again really nice job Gary . I would have thought to weld them together but I can see they are not coming apart and they look real clean . Congratulations on 5K subs , I'm really surprised that you didn't have that many a year ago but maybe now it will start to snow ball . Great choice for a gift , my driver is by far the most used tool in my shop . Thank you for sharing and I wish you and your family merry Christmas and happy new year
Thank you Otto. Somebody would have to work really hard at breaking them loose. And I was trying to think of a gift that most people could use. Always nice to have you stop by the channel. Gary
Your videos are gift enough for me, Gary . Really liked that trick with the silver to "cork it" and keep the solder from going bye-bye in the joint ! As Usual -- Great Video ( and you did just fine in the front of the camera) . Merry Christmas to you and your family ! -- Ken
The end mill caught me by surprise, certainly not something I've seen done before. Upon contemplation, it makes perfect sense though. Not enough material to drill, too much to ream. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Aaron. A end mill will cut you a straight hole like you would get with a small boring bar, where a drillbit or Reem will follow the existing hole. But when you use an end mill you want to measure the hole because it can cut larger than the actual size of the end mill. I hope that makes sense. Gary
Impressed by the technique of adding in the relief for the silver solder to flow into while leaving enough of the full size tube to centralize the joint and act as a stop to resist the sliver solder running down into the tube, a definite win/win. Congratulations on reaching 5k subscribers, and a quick question regarding eligibility, is it just for US residents? As shipping cost for overseas packages have increased to crazy levels in the recent year or so, and could easily exceed the value of the great prize! Thank you for the great and varied content in your videos. I'd like to join the others on here and wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a happy, safe and heathy new year ahead.
Paul, thank you very much. That technique gives me a really strong joint without losing too much silver solder down the hole. LOL As far as shipping overseas, I have not looked into pricing. And that’s probably a good thing. LoL I know I have subscribers overseas and I did not want to leave them out of the drawing, so it’s open for all and I will take care of shipping. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. Gary
@@OldIronMachineWorks I'll send in my email in that case, but if my name comes out in the list, I'll settle for a channel sticker and the drill / driver set can go to another subscriber closer to you, as I'm a long ways from the US :)
G’day Gary. Congratulations on the 5K subscribers. They are some really nice prizes mate. Good luck to everyone entering. Great seeing your girls getting involved too. Cheers 🍻. Aaron PS: did my stickers arrive yet? Yours haven’t arrived yet either.
Aaron, thank you. Yes your stickers finally made it. I need to plan a video of putting up new stickers on my board. My daughter has been helping me with sending out stickers. I will check and make sure they got out. I hope you put in for my drawing. Gary
@@OldIronMachineWorks Hi Gary, awesome news I'm so glad they arrived this time around. That would be awesome mate, I'd love to have one your stickers on my board. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas mate. Cheers, Aaron.
Merry Christmas Gary. Those extensions look like they are built to last. I appreciate your discussing how you machined the end of the shorter tube to keep the silver solder from running away from the joint.
I would have figured those big engines would have had pretty consistent service life to overhaul. Apparently not if they need to check compression that often.
Brian, These engines run 24 7 And with the big natural gas engines and the landfill gas engines the valves don’t get much lubrication and wear out pretty fast. Definitely don’t get the hours out of the heads like you would with a Diesel engine. Don’t forget to send an email for the drawing. Gary
Larry, I could imagine you used your share of silver solder. I would think most fittings on an AC unit are silver soldered. Thanks for checking out the video. Gary
Andy, the tickets from the thousand sub giveaway are still in the Tumbler so if you were in the thousand you’re automatically in. But it wouldn’t hurt to shoot another email just in case. Gary

Shame I am from the other side of the world pretty much, I would love to enter the giveaway, I enjoy your professional work and calm voice
Great technique. I don’t do much silver soldering these days, but it’s always good to know something additional. You never know what will be useful.
Thank you Mel
5K! Congrats!
Thanks John

Interesting job
It's interesting how some machines, such as this engine, can scale up without changing the relative size proportions of the parts.
Nice work Gary love the Chanel

Spark plugs, or glow plugs? That has to be a diesel right?
Spark plugs. These engines run on Landfill gas.
@@OldIronMachineWorks Methane and carbon dioxide
@@metalworksmachineshop Exactly Doug. Thanks for clarifying that.
interesting, sorry I have been out in the field in Antarctica, and poor internet at the station.
Nice 5k prize there.
