  • I've ridden with lots of people on their CRF250Ls and I'm impressed with the capability this little bike has, especially at this price point. Check out my thoughts in this video.

    I love the cadenced sounds of the exhaust at idle. I have one and it's great for everyday use. Smooth and economical engine. Yes, it has low torque and HP, but high fuel efficiency. Little maintenance, just oil, filters, coolants and gaskets. I mean, it's relatively cheap to maintain. Furthermore, I think the 2012 version that I have is extremely beautiful.

    Finally, someone wasn’t scared to take off-road and use it’s full capabilities

    I like my 'Rally' version. A 42 teeth rear sprocket is great for off road and still good enough for rural paved roads.

    Hard to find fault in your analysis. I run almost the same setup including the Ohlins but with Racetech emulators and springs up front. The only time I'd like more power is at highway speeds but very usable for everything else. Support is great, bit and pieces affordable even OEM parts. Service intervals ? Sometimes you just want to do something because you always have, even though they say it's unnecessary. It never does anything silly just goes and goes. Oh I do recommend a change from the clutch judder spring to another plate, stock springs are fine. It now feels like every other bike I've owned and works better in the tight sections. Nice review no fluff reasonable advice.

    I have a 2013 CRF250L, it's been a good bike. Wish it had a little more power, but I have had a lot of fun on it regardless. Cool video, those creek crossings look pretty hairy, but fun!

      Had you install EJK electronic fuel jet kit and replaced the exhaust pipe with Q4 and mega bomb? If not try to install if power improves.

      @@pedrolast9537 I have the FMF megabomb header and Q4 muffler with the EJK. It helps, I was expecting more and my expectations were probably too high lol.

      I have a full video about the off-road trip we did. 25 km or so in that riverbed. The skidplate actually damaged his engine and it was leaking oil. We had to get a van to take the bike out. But he had it welded up and it's good as new. It also had a low suspension back then, so the skidplate was hitting a lot of rocks. He's raised it up with the taller suspension now.

    A good, concise, objective video.

    I’m 53 with bad back and hips so for the off-roading I do it’s good enough for me I’ve upgraded the suspension new bars and risers and put more off-road tyres on it.
    Get you too your destination , have some fun and get you home again , what more do you want.

    I think the high camera angle makes the bike seem a lot slower than it actually is. The biggest issue with my Crf250l 2017 is #1 it heavy #2 stock tires are garbage #3 the sprockets need to be changed depending on how you use the bike. That being said from bone stock I’ve taken that bike places I never thought that it would go climbed huge mountains thinking it wouldn’t make it but the thing always tractors it’s way up. I’d say it’s an incredible bike for the price you pay.

    • @Durangedkitten

      Also #4 he’s right the stock rear suspension rebounds if you compress it to much on the trail. It hasn’t caused me any issues yet in the 2 years I’ve spent riding it pretty aggressively but it’s come very close to causing a serious situation before.

    Nice bike, and I'm thinking about getting one. I have a '99 XR250R that's great off-road, and weighs 87lbs less than the CRF250L, but of course the XR is not street legal and I really want a street legal dual sport. I'm tired of hauling my dirt bike everywhere.

    • @ExpatonTwoWheels
      @ExpatonTwoWheels  5 років тому

      That's understandable. The XR is a tank, but if you're going to own an unplated bike, better to get a high performance one. The XR is a dual sport. I like having a plated dual sport. I know about a WR450F with a plate for sale for less than 300k if you're interested.

      Expat on Two Wheels personally I don’t have the time and patience to maintain the wr450 idk if this commenter is the same as me but i like the 250l because I just put oil in it once a year and she’s good to go.

      I was on a really smooth trail. While it soaks up the little stuff a lot better than my 510, I'll bet it'll get out of sorts if you pick up the pace with hard hits. The shock should keep up, but I don't think the forks will.

    • @Durangedkitten

      Yeah the power really isn’t an issue on the bike. Rev it out she can handle high rpm it’s got lots of balls for trails. Issue is people bog the thing down and say oh well why doesn’t it have any power.

      @@Durangedkitten Those people who said that are good only in there mouth, maybe they though that they are riding in a race track or they are in the competition but in the real world they cannot even consume the whole power of the bike and don't even have the skill to handle big power output dirt bikes.

    you are not an expat , you are an immigrant !

      I guess it depends on the perspective. Both seem accurate.

    • @dradventures2117
      @dradventures2117 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, and it takes some balls to be an immigrant! Do yòù know what it's like Michael Joyce? I guess not ... And, judging by your grammar (compared to the 'immigrant's'), one would think you're an 'immigrant' too! I would suggest you get you spelling and grammar at least in order before you have a go at someone else based on their heritage!

    • @theravedaddy

      Well brainiac, immigrants generally go to another country to earn money. Expats retire to another country to spend money, probably something you'll never be able to do.
