  • The new and improved 300ah kings lithium battery is definitely worth the watch. I was quite surprised at what I saw inside. Also keep subscribed if you'd like to see what I do to the 200ah Version on a new video out soon

    Great insight into the 300ah battery as I was literally looking at buying 2 of the 120ah ones and running them in parallel to achieve the 300ah constant draw knowing this was only 150ah but great to know it actually will allow the 300ah, win win

    Good job & vid mate. Yeah, the Kings lithium batteries seem to be pretty good for the price point & better than many others that are much higher price. I like that they have the prismatic cells, I thought they were cylindrical, maybe its the new blue top format. Seems like a pretty good BMS too, it would be good to get some more details on that. I thought that Kings had dropped the ball with the 300A lithiums because they only had the same input/output of the 200A model until more recent, at least this is a drop in for a 3000w inverter install now. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

      Yea mate definitely makes sense to spread the load between cells too. No need for too big of cabling too

      I was inclined to think the same way until I saw this vid, pro’s & con’s of each I guess, if u have 1 suspect battery out of 3 you can still get by on the 2 remaining, but being able to have one battery to run a 3k inverter is pretty impressive, & less cabling could allow for a very short run of heavy gauge cable to inverter directly above the battery in a canopy setup.

    Anyone thinking of buying these should know that if you have a warranty claim, as I have, they have to be taken back to the nearest store and left for testing for 1 or 2 days, which is great if you, like me, live a fair distance from your nearest store. For me it's a 240km round trip to drop the battery off, and then another 240km round trip to pick it up and don't bother asking to book in so a simple charge test can be done same day, main call centre will not give out store phone numbers. Oh, and compensation for travel, not gunna happen! I've found it easier to deal with Chinese Ebayers.

    Kings also seem to randomly sell side terminal or end terminal 200Ah batteries - I have 2 of each, fortunately bought 2 at a time so have 2 of each - no real documentation as to options.
    Yep - for "full power" draw hu-uge (short) cable is needed to the inverter..
    Question is - Can these reliably be used for winching - parallel up a couple of 300s. (I have a 200Ah from Renogy in the ute for camping power - just a 1kW Renogy PSW inverter ) - have resisted hooking winch up to any of my lithiums..

    • @WEEKENDER4X4
      @WEEKENDER4X4  Рік тому

      Honestly two of these in parallel I think would do it quite easily. I mixed my winch once and it only pulls 260a full load.

    • @evil17
      @evil17 Рік тому

      I think 2 would have the power to run the winch reliably, the main issue I think is that I would not recommend lithium for under bonnet use because heat is not good for any battery really, & there has been a number of failures of lithium under bonnets & I dont think the BMS’s would be happy about the extra heat either. The other issue is, if u mount the batteries in the rear or further away from ur winch, it is going to cost a fair bit more in extra heavier copper cabling to overcome losses from the length resistance, but that could work.

      Hey mate I did get a battery just wondering to charge it do I need a lithium charger or would a standard charger be okay

    • @evil17
      @evil17 Рік тому

      @@Mr_RPEyou can use a standard charger but it is not ideal if you dont understand how to charge lifepo4 correctly, & you will probably end up damaging it at some time. Ideally you should get a proper lithium charger, they use a specific algorithm for Lithium charging.
      If you are referring to a DC-DC charger for ur tow vehicle to van charging on the go, you can get combined alternator & solar chargers, but I would use a seperate charger for the solar on van (if u have any solar) so it can work independently of the vehicle DC-DC charger & charge ur batteries more efficiently while driving.
      Lifepo4 batteries are best charged to between 13.8v & 14.2v and then floated off to 13.4v to 13.6v if you want to keep them in a full SOC & ready for action. At 12v alarm bells should be going off & they are virtually exhausted, so dont take them down to 10v as in the manufacturer specs, it is not necessary or good for them for the last 2-3amps, conversely taking them over 14.2v is not necessary either & is where more damage to longevity will occur. Do ur homework, lithium is a game changer & worth the research. Hope this helps. Cheers
