Great video allowing Josh the opportunity to share his journey from a “ conventional swing” to his single plane / Moe Norman swing. He looked like he was spot on with his 7 iron. Job well done fellas !
Great work Josh and Todd. You could have covered all of those shots with a bed sheet. I'm 67 and have had some right arm and wrist injuries. I can't swing like I used to. I've been watching your videos all winter and practicing the swing out in the barn. I went to the driving range today and once I figured out how far to stand from the ball, every shot was straight and about 190 yards of carry. I feel like you've given me my golf life back. Thank you
Man....I really enjoy watching this lovely swing. Also I wanted to say thank you Todd for giving all your insights on the feeling of greatness. It's absolutely hands down one of my favorite books!
Great video Todd. Nice to see another Kitchener / Waterloo guy converting to the Moe model. I remember Josh from when he was a junior playing against guys like Corey Conners.
Mr. Graves,I am in awe of your knowlege and ability to articulate that information in the way you teach so with enormous amounts of respect for you and your mentor Mr.pipeline Mo Norman I ask why are there not more world class players doing this and with it being so consistant why in your opinion does Bryson spray the ball all over the lot!Thank you sir!
I no longer worry why more tour players dont utilize better swing mechanics. I spend my time teaching thousands of golfers who are benefiting from an easier swing. Bryson needs to simplify and purify his technique and stop worrying about distance so much.
@@ToddGravesGolf - Bryson sold out to the bomb and gouge way of playing and in doing so has insured that that is the only way he can now play as his crazy club head speed insures he will hit very few fairways and will struggle with controlling distance with the scoring clubs. Time will tell if this works for him in the long run. He did win a US Open which is hard to ignore. I personally am very disappointed that he is choosing to sell out for the Saudi blood money. BTW I am from Bryson’s hometown (Fresno, CA) and took some single plane lessons from his long time coach Mike Schy about 20 years ago.
5:32 - Weight moves toward the target while the backswing is not yet finished. Hallmark of all great swings. This allows the shaft to load and we can easily see he is creating a nice amount of lag. We also see that he does not roll the clubface over too much, keeping that face pointing more towards the target longer. The lag does the work of propelling the ball, no need in trying to time clubface roll. I also think keeping the trail foot down longer can help to keep the clubface on the target line better, longer. Awesome content and interaction Todd. Excellent video!
Thank you for this! Really enjoy watching different people swing with your method. It's interesting that he stands so firm with both feet on ground all the time. It's probably a great way to practice to never go up on your toes, because it can easily lead to you lifting the heal too early?
The most important thing is not "invading" the hitting space! GO back and watch the older golfers, Boros, Snead, Litler, etc and you will find most of them were flat footed and (chased) the club head!
Little confused about the ball club alignment Josh had with what appeared to be towards the toe as opposed to the towards the heel. Absolutely love the 2 part backswing drill! Thanks guys!
Great video. He seems to be on the taller side too. At 6'6" myself I have a lot of area for things to change in my swing. The 2 part slow motion was great.
Hi Todd, Moe played with M3 weighted clubs. Does Callaway still make M3 weighted clubs? I am 65, physically strong and can handle a hammer with the best of them. What should I buy?
I might be wrong but... i see his IBP more towards the right, like 5 inch from where its marked. Wish you could talk a bit on when we can move the ball or why we should move the ball more toward right or other position. Thanks for great tips
Iron numbers dont really mean anything… you need to know degrees, shaft and ball model. Bryson uses stronger than usual lofts and has a single shaft length. Adam Scott (and Tiger) uses an older, spinnier ball and deliberately gives up distance for control and consistency.
It must be satisfying hitting straight laser shots. What is the distance in inches from his toes to the ball with the 7i? I ask because at 5'3" I'm trying to find a proper distance.
Are your clubs properly fit? The average distance from toe-line to ball is 25 inches with a 7 iron. This requires a properly fit club with proper length and lie angle.
@@ToddGravesGolf my current clubs are not fitted but I just received my new fitted clubs 2* flat and 1/2" short yesterday. Off to the range to dial in the distances.
@@michaelgoldman2869 Was it a real question? if you see the Single Plane Swing and you see the Juju Swing, you could easily answer that for yourself. Have fun.
My question may seem silly but why do we need a back swing at all to hit the ball? This question in my mind just takes the principles your teaching which Moe performed to the end result which is to move forward with the swing. Your demonstration even proves it is not necessary. Why can’t we just go to the top position making sure we’re on plane and swing forward from there? Mr. Norman even suggest the minimalistic approach to the back swing by placing the club head a foot behind the ball to eliminate excess movement so why not eliminate the entire back swing - what real purpose does it provide in hitting the ball forward?
I was doing that 25 years ago. (former baseball player) so why wouldn't you start from the top??? You'd take out almost 50% of the problems. Imagine a baseball player holding the bat in front of himself and then cranking it back and then forward?
What I notice about all these great single planers - it's that they have absolutely zero pelvic shift. It's such a crucial element of the swing. Unless your in absolute control of your pelvis you won't hit it well.
I love the concept, the info shared by Todd, and most importantly the respect paid to Moe Norman. But please, that man is not hitting a 7 iron 190 yds.

How did you figure out how far to stand from the ball?
At first I was shanking a lot of shots. I moved back until I was hitting solid without feeling off balance.
He makes it look simple. Even when demonstrating the 2-piece swing at the end he sends that 7-iron flying.

Of all the younger guys I am teaching, I think Josh will achieve status first. He is motivated and has a great attitude.
@@ToddGravesGolf Lots of natural ability and able to hit a 7 iron 190 helps too. Good luck to Josh!
I like how they are holding a full conversation and the balls just out there in outer space still traveling.
Agree putting others on and teaching them is highly helpful. I see my own mistakes getting fixed. Thank you!

I have to be honest I was very skeptical of this swing but It appears it works! Simple less moving parts Im sold!!!! Thanks for sharing this!
Glad it helped!
190?! 7 iron? Congrats… I’m 61 and my 7 iron is 160… great video, I work on his exact plane issue too. Felt like I was getting a lesson too! Thanks 🙏
I hope I didn't talk too much. I like to let these guys teach what they've learned.
Part of it might be the loft the loft. My 7 iron is 37* it goes 145
I also a few just now popped over to Amazon and picked up The Single Plane Golf Swing. It'll be here in a few days. Im excited!

115mph swing speed speed with a seven, that’s really impressive.

190 yards with 7 iron...wow...I wonder if they are strong lofted...wonder what
kind of irons they are.
190. Wow
190 for a guy in his early 50's by the look with a 7 iron.
World no.1 Rory, who let's face it can rip it, has 192 stock length for a 7 iron.
190 yd 7-iron and it looks like he's barely swinging with any power 😳
great stuff guys.

Me too.
wow 190 with a 7 iron that very long 95% of the pros hit a 7 iron a bit shorter u need to strike it well to hit it that long !
