So how would you describe your level after watching this video? Grade 1, grade 3, maybe grade 100000? :D Please support my work and help me to become a fulltime musician and creator! www.patreon.com/beatrixguitar
I am not good at classical guitar. I completely fake it. Possibly enough to fool some of the general public. However, I have just subscribed to your channel and I have learned so much in a very short amount of time! I'm a self taught American guitar player. I play mainly blues rocknroll country some FLAT picking and finger picking but to be able to do what you do would take complete TOTAL dedication to the art of classical guitar. It would require me to abandon my other styles of playing in order to become accomplished in the world of classical guitar. It's just a different world. I have always had great admiration for for the music and for the people who can play it.
Hi Beatrix! Thanks for addressing this diffucult topic! It`s so hard to select good pieces. Thanks for talking about how to think and act to make the best choises. Exactly as you said, we are good at different parts and it can be difficult to gain insight into our own level. For me its importent to go back to the basics and at the same time have some more advanced pieces going on at the same time. I have to have some interesting challenges 🙂 The more I play the more I see that I have a lot to learn. Thats fun! But most importent is to have fun i think! Thanks for posting this interesting and concrete lecture! //Tobias
Thank you for the video. I'm glad this channel is growing and growing. As regards grades, I think they are an interesting option if you take private lessons or learn an instrument on your own and don't follow fromal music education. There are some organisations who provide exams for each grade. By taking these exams you can earn a very concrete goal and you can get valuable feedback. It can give you a positive stimulus to performing as well.
Ah I didn't know that such thing exist! I love how I can learn something new by just making a video every time :D Thanks for the info and for the kind words!
Had to write my first comment to your channel… CAUSE THERE WAS ”FINNISH FOLKSONG”.. I am from Finland 😉. But… I have watched your videos and …I think there is something GREAT in your channel. It ”pops out” in a good way from other Classical guitar-channels. I really like your ”style”… almost in everything 😅. And… I have not found any Classical guitar player in YT that keeps ”live-streams” it was quite impressive when I looked your live-stream record. And my level…Hmm… dont know 😅. Maybe the ”ehh-level” 😂 And…now I have to subscribe!! There is no other way! I wish you all the best! Keep up the great work! ~Matleena~
Oh thank you for this extremely kind comment! I'm happy that you landed here! Well you know as a classical musician I have a strong background with traditions but I really want to shape my life as I like it, so while I love playing classical music I try to find new fun ways to do it and to share it :) I'm happy it fits your taste! "ehh-level" is the best because from there you can only improve 😂😂😂🥰 Thanks again!
Excellent video Beatrix. What do you think about sight reading and fretboard knowledge as skill categories? I think these ones might be more important for an intermediate or advanced player, but it is not a bad idea acquiring this set of skills in the early stages of formation as well. Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia. Excellent UA-cam channel.
I started to learn it recently and I did underestimate it. Now I see that some of the scales and the bar chords in the second part are more difficult than I thought, but I think I didn't check that in this video, I was checking the first part. I think the major part is very difficult compared to the first part lol. But the point of this video is to have an idea about the piece you want to pick up, estimate it a bit, and I still think that I was right about the first part. Estimation is not equal to measurement :)
the title of the video is wrong. it should be called "How to know the level of a classical guitar piece" . at first, I thought she was going to establish the level of the guitar players in the video

Good idea, checked that before!

I think you have grossly underestimated the difficulty level of Capriccio Arrabe.

Hi
Just miss level 3 pieces
Thanks
If you come across a piece that is hard, break it down and practice it in sections / chunks.
You are beautiful and talented. Keep it like this.😘
Bacana sua dica...
👏👏👏

Not sure what you mean by alternate picking?
alternating for example p m, and p i. it is the main Fingerstyle tecnique see tommy emmanuel or chet atckins or the travis picking

So I am Zéro. to be honest...
Time to take time. Merci.
