An absolute amazing singer John Beag is and although I'm not from Connemara and have very little Gaelic speaking in me I think between John Beag & Beairtle O'Domhnaill they are probably the finest singers I have ever heard and I've heard some mighty Irish singers in my time in London and back home in Ireland. Thanks for posting !! 5 Stars !!
Tá an amhrán seo go hiontach ar fad! Má tá amhránaí níos fearr, níor chuala é fós. Ná lagadh Dia thú John Beag. Go raibh maith agat le haghaidh an fís, Pádraig Ó Loirgneáin
An amhrán é - dar liomsa tá sé i measc na n-amhrán is áille dár chuala mé riamh in Éirinn nó sa Bhreatain Bheag. Tá an ceart agat, ar ndóigh, faoi Áine Ní Droighneáin - leagan thar fóir amach is amach....
@nora curran: Breá liom gan aon agó de bharúil faoi John Beag agus a stíl amhránaíochta dochomparáite. Ní fhaighim aon locht ar an amhrán sár uasal atá á chanadh aige ach oiread...
@Brian Mackle: Go raibh míle maith agat as a bheith buíoch díom faoi an t-amhrán seo a chur ar fáil anseo. Scoth de amhrán agus togha amhránaí chomh maith is ea atá againn anseo...

There was an O Flaherty on Inis Mór in around 1980. He was a dangerous and violent man. I saw him physically attack a tourist who was camping there one time. I've never forgotten it.

Must be one of the greatest funeral songs I have ever heard in any language - it was the only song worth playing for such a proud Connemara man...
