Favourite song of all time. Seen them live 10 times and it wasn't until the 7th time at Download that I finally saw them play Citizen Erased live - blew my mind!! Really would recommend this album and Showbiz as albums to react to in full - Muse at their most raw on both albums!! Love your channel, keep up the good work :)

Thanks. Im giving my soul to you. I subscribed. And I should share my litttle boring story with you. When I heard it 3th time and then one of the live performance, I think it was 2015...then It hit me: I was 30 yrs old, and heard my share of music - I dont image world without music, I was fan of rock bands, composers, rappers. I was always guy that listen to albums, not only singles. I knew Muse before. But then after 5 years or so I found something to listen entire albums. And that night it hit me. Citizen is best song in the world. I finally found my top 1. To this day, It lost this power of novelty, but 3 years ago, it was perfect to me. And remains on top 1 spot since then.
Great video, I love that while watching I feel like closing my eyes and enjoying the music but then remember "Oh shit, maybe he added a quirky remark and I missed it" and rewind to make sure. Also, I suggest Sing For Absolution (my favorite song from Muse) as well as Exogenesis Symphony (all three parts for the full journey)
Wow!! Masterpiece! This song is already really good. And the live version gives it more. I recommend you to check the live version from 2004. Maybe Glastonbury or Rock am ring. Well, in rock am ring 2004, you could see a fan drop tears in the end of the song.
I love muse, but this song was their perfection song, it was creative, emotional, driving, progressive, different than anything else at the time and since, for me they have never reached this peak again, they've made some beautiful, rocking tunes, plenty of them, but this was different, and special. I like to rewatch this video sometimes because based on your notes you got the song pretty well which is fun to see, thanks and have a great day
Well, look at you, Deano! Fresh as a daisy from your vacation. 😊🌼 Good to have you back! Now just imagine this song blending seamlessly into Microcuts, that track you did three or four months ago. It's quite an epic pair, those two songs. You should give 'em another listen together- Citizen first, then Microcuts immediately after. It's a one-two punch in the heart and gut. (In a *good* way!) 😋

And one to keep an eye on: Huntsmen, need some time to mature though. (has some growls and Yes inspired cleans but instrumentals are very elder, Colossus is good.
Since you noted the guitar strings tuning: this song was performed almost solely on Manson 7-string guitar Matt Bellami bought second-hand when he came into shop and said he wants a 7 string guitar for a song, from 2001 to 2015. A guitar just for this song... Tuning is AADDGBE.

Nah, Matt said it in an interview that it would be like a sequel to Citizen Erased...then everyone started getting hyped about it. It turned out to have a great first half up to the end of the guitar solo, but unlike Citizen Erased where the 2nd part was so, haunting, relaxing and beautiful while having one of if not the best lyrics in "Wash me away. Clean your body of me. Erase all the memories. They will only bring us pain. And I've seen, all I'll ever need" The Globalist failed to captivate and pull me in the same way. Most felt the same way.
