  • Driving my Land Rover from 1978 on snow covered roads during winter with the GoPro camera mounted on different places, inside and outside of the car, filming it as I was driving.
The tires are Michelin 7.50-R16-C O/R XZL 4x4 M+S on Defender 5.5" rims.
    Filmed in Sweden february 2022

Greeting from Canada where old Series L-R are rare. Years ago I had an 88 inch Series 2A which was my winter toy. Thank you for the ride!

These very lovely cars seems to be making a lot of special sounds from door hinges, to gear boxes to starter engines that many people around the world recognise :)

After restoring an old Jaguar many years ago, ( it was being used on a farm like an old truck), I swore to myself I would never put myself through that headache again.
If I come across a suitable old Landie, I may have to rethink my agenda. I absolutely love these series wagons. They are nearly impossible to find here in California.
    Well done!👌

I've done some restorations back in the days on classic american cars, doing paint jobs etc. but this one I'll keep as it is. I absolutely love the patina.

Nothing better than seeing one of Solihull's finest in the terrain she was built for, especially when you obviously took some time in the production. she looks great Machinarm.
They rattle your teeth, the engine noise is deafening & easily of 'Industrial injury' levels, but as your hearing deteriorates over the years it become more acceptable.
Breaking is of the 'Cruise Liner' method, keep looking miles ahead & brake accordingly.
They leak fluids like 'The Torrey Canyon,'
Keep 'em outside & the window sliders rot & turn green with moss & seize up in a month,
Because you're too tight to splash out on a folding step, you're foot continually slips off the greased tow hitch when you climb in the back door,
After suddenly realising to your horror that you hadn't engaged the free wheeling hubs two seconds after pulling away in 4WD, you stop suddenly, jump out into 6 inch deep slush, mud or water, engage them & sigh in relief when you realise no damage has been done.
Because you love the wheel on the hood look, you accept the herculean effort it takes to lift it & also the potential guillotine now above your head when standing on an aforementioned freewheeling hub to repair the throttle linkage.
And all THAT is why I just absolutely adore 'em with a passion.& owned about two dozen of 'em over the last 40 years, best looking vehicle ever designed and no mistake. Form following function, just like all the best designs.

Thanks for your comment, it's spot on :)
They are indeed very special cars to drive, and even though they are painfully slow, noisy and uncomfortable, it always brings me to a smile that no other car has done. Cheers!

The series III is a very capable car even in cold weather, snow and on Swedish winter roads. The tires is winter specification Michelin XZL (M+S) but not studded, and I have to be really careful when breaking so that I do not lock the wheels😬. Love your country by the way! We visit Germany often for vacation 🥨🍺❤

All the familiar rattles and squeaks of a Landy. Some nice engine noise too. Hope the heater is working well. How are the brakes? My Landy goes well in the snow but doesn't stop so well as it's such a challenge getting all the brakes adjusted evenly. Lovely to see. Thanks for sharing.

    • @mudden

All the noise and shaking also makes it feel like your driving faster than ever until you check the speedometer 😬
The brakes are fine, they where not good when I bought the car but I got an brake overhaul-kit and replaced all the brake related components, from the main cylinder to the brake lines, hoses, cylinders and drums and spent a day balancing everything. Been driving for a year now and they still work really good. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I believe you are in low range on a roo like that high range 4x4 would be appropriate

    • @mudden
      @mudden  3 місяці тому

      Hi, it’s hi-range 2WD.
Front differential is disconnected with the free wheel locking hubs.
It’s much easier to handle a drift with rwd only 😊

  • @DavidSmith-hg9jw

Should be in high range. Had a bonnet fall on my head if a wheel had been fitted it would have killed me low range rarely needed on flat road you could take off in fourth to much reves in first low range snaps the half shaft. Had my 2a swb 1971 for 23. Years
