Just bought this film and watched it last night. Excellent film from the period. Danny Ross is hysterically funny. His comedy timing is superb. Highly recommended for any fan.

I used to play "The Clitheroe Kid " to my son years ago when he was about 10, and he could remember whole reams of dialogue, and did all the characters voices brilliantly ! I remember the scene where Danny Ross falls over, but had forgotten the name of the film. Thanks for posting.
Some people have been asking where they can get a copy of "Love Match" on a DVD. I got a copy as part of a boxed set called "Long Lost Comedy Classics" a 6 DVD set. Stars include Tony Hancock Peter Sellers Syd James Richard Herne and Margaret Rutherford.
Danny Ross was a very funny man who sadly died at 45. Glenn Melvyn taught Ronnie Barker how to perfect the stutter, that he used when playing Arkwright, in Open All Hours.
Can someone PLEASE put the full movie on UA-cam as I haven't seen this since I bunked off school in the early 80's (that's when it was worth bunking off school as they used to show Arthur Askey, Will Hay and George Formby films Good times!) and I've been looking for a copy of it ever since!

.It defies description that Danny Ross's work was wiped. we can only live in hope that someone.somewhere has a hidden/forgotten set of tapes. how can todays comedians even call themselves talented or funny. when people like Mr Ross. Chris Sievey. Billy Pearce ,Ardrien Walsh, all chock full of talent, are all but swept under the entertainment carpet.

It seems a small amount of Danny Ross's work is archived at ITV. So lets write to them and use pester power to get them to release Dannys work onto DVD...............Can you understand the BBC????? I emailed then asking why The Clitheroe Kid was not for sale. and got a really negative reply.( old hat and all that...........) If Danny's work is to survive and reach younger audiences this attitude has to change. it's a a shower of ####wits running the entertainment industry today.......
+devilsknot689 Yeah, you are right. I'm a huge fan of Clitheroe and Danny Ross but do the BBC give a flying fuck for us? No way. I have been trying to get this film (The Love Match) for years and no joy so far. I sure won't pay the inflated prices that Amazon want.

Yes , sadly Danny had a heart attack in 1976, he was with his manager, he was taken straight to hospital but died, he was only 45..
Danny Ross played Jimmy Clitheroes elder brother in the sitcom 'Just Jimmy' in the mid 60s. The mother was played by Molly Sugden.

Full film out on DVD. I would love to see any remaining clips of the spin off to this film. It was a series called Love and kisses.
Jimmy Clitheroe DVD out in may (Thats my boy) includes at the end the only surviving episode of Just Jimmy starring Danny Ross.
