This has been so wonderful to see, my Dad was a huge Skiffle fan so I heard Lonnie Donegan all the way through my childhood. The memory of the music and seeing the stars of the day has brought back some wonderful memories.
Lovely to see this, brings back all the memories. Lonnie Donegan was a really great entertainer and his voice was unique. Thank goodness for all the lasting recordings to keep him around.
Impossible to listen to him perform without tapping your feet. I was always a big fan of his, but didn't realize how big a star he really was. His music live on.
I wore out two 45 records of Lonnie's Rock Island Line. His album An Englishman Sings American Folksongs I still treasure. RIP Mr. D. You were a classic.
Lonnie Donegan was an inspiration to all us young teenagers in the early 50s. My father hated him, told me that unless I could sing like Slim Whitman or Nat King Cole I would be no good ! ! ! ! - Donegan was our hero ! !
Shame i never met Lonnie 😔 Anthony Donegan is hilarious 😂😂 your son carries on well. It's an honour to see his son do gigs with my dad and his brother 👌
Fantastic if it was,not for this man I would never have picked up a guitar as I did when I was 13 years old and performed with my own skiffle group all those years ago singing rock island line as my very first song now at 74 years old still playing gigs on my own and singing most of his songs and keeping skiffle and his memory alive on my own you tube channel Sparrer sings please check me out God bless him he was a one off and inspired John Lennon and Mick Jagger so without him I dont think rthere would have been the Beatles or the stones R .I .P . Lonnie
As a fan of Chris Barber band went to see them at the Caird Hall in Dundee in the fiftees, knew Lonnie was banjo player but as most of band had a break at suppose was ‘half time’ he filled that spot with few of band, was quite taken aback by what he was singing and music he was playing, have always been a great fan of Lonnie and his music. Sadly missed but son Peter doing a good job keeping his music alive!!!
lonnie donegan wanted to buy my house.i was living in florida in 1994 and put my house up for sale.the estate agent said to me,"i have someone who wants to look at your house,he says you wil l know him.i was intrigued and mystified.the doorbell rang,i opened the door and lonnie was standing there with sharon ,a small boy ,and a babe in arms.ican remember my exact words, isaid,"bloody hell, its LONNIE DONEGAN.well, that broke the ice,and isaid,"you were the one who got me going as a guitar player.we got talking about the old days, the "50"s,when iused to in the recording booth on Southend Pier, and Lonnie said "i know that, ive been in there.we had a good laugh, and he told me that he'd had heart surgery and he was coming to live in florida from lake tahoe.

Well said, there is no excuse for such an inaccurate statement. It is like calling someone from the Wirral a Scouser, or a Wolverhampton man a Brummie.
I grew up listening to Lonnie Donegan with my mum and dad. Still love him and his music aling with his son, peter. Xx
👏👏👏👏fantastic!! Music to tap your feet and👏👏your hands to. RIP Lonnie🦋

What joyous company he must have been...!!!
He's so amazing!
Lonnie was the British Johnny Cash love it
Very lovely
What a guy
Thanks..
Lovely guy, you've got to be joking. Justin Hayward is the lovely guy, not Donegan.

I was all right until he started singing "Rock Island Line".

I used to work with Lonnies wife at the time, Jill Westlake when she appeared in Cabaret at the Marina Ballroom 19 1957-68.

Three heart attack’s later after all the Las Vegas trip 😂😂😂🤣😲😎🧐😧🌟🌟🌟 what a true legend
and now his son's on The Voice
What a wonderful man, what a wonderful life, great!
I swear i can hear Glaswegian in his singing voice even though Lonnie left Scotland aged two.
Lonnie reminds me so much of Neil Sedaka.
Rory Gallagher also performed on the album ' Putting on The Style '
Of course Peter is a top musician now. The acorn didn’t fall far from the tree!
😍😍😍🤘🙏
rock island line with Rory Gallagher classic
No mention of the beautiful song he wrote for Tom Jones - I’ll never fall in love again:-(
Justin Hayward is a class act. That's all I'm going to say.
