Pretty cool, I watch every video. Just graduated from tmc from the 3 week class and your trainee was in the 2 week class both did load securement together! Awesome.
I understand TMC doesn’t have APUs. Can you talk about how a driver can sleep comfortably in different temperatures / conditions. For example - are there vents or any power source to run a fan to circulate some air in the the sleeper? Do drivers just idle when it makes sense? Also if you buy a refrigerator for the truck how would it stay running if the truck is off and it doesn’t have an APU? I don’t mind buying a frig but if I have to keep my truck running to keep it on then it seems pointless. Do drivers just resort to getting a good cooler?
In the summer I just idle, and in the winter I use the bunk heater. Buy a coleman cooler, they pug into the 9v outlets so you don't have to run the truck all the time. Just make sure you unplug over the weekend.
Awesome video as always 👍🏼👍🏼 The last Kubota you dropped off looked like it was at Chappell tractor. I know the owners personally. Great bunch of guys. Looking forward to next week!
Had my first Kubota load last week. The people loading were so helpful on securement and everything. Only thing I didn't like was that it was 3 drop offs on a Friday....Turned and burned pretty quick so I got my take home load fairly early. $6200 this week which is my personal best. Got home at 6 pm last night. Have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July man.
Do TMC trucks have accident avoidance systems in them? I have heard mostly negative things about it in general. Brakes coming on for cars that cut you off, overpasses, signs etc, would that be a major issue for someone hauling coils ?.. do you have any info on this?
Yes we have an accident avoidance system, but it's not that bad. It's pretty standard to see in newer trucks. We had the system in the old 379s too. It's not as bad as ppl make it seem. Most of the time it beeps at you if you are following to close.
Hey man, glad I found your channel! I’ve been watching a lot of “lone wolf trucker”, and “Riding with Dave” trying to get a feel for what it’s like on the road. Second generation trucker heading to orientation at TMC soon if all works out. I got a lot to learn, and have a few questions for ya if you don’t mind… I seen in some of your earlier vids you got a family, mainly the missing that football game episode 10 months back. Is work and home life truly balanced? I know they got weekends, just missing out on family is a fear of mine. I’m sure it comes with the job. My second question kinda contradicts my last one, but is it possible to swap out OTR, and Regional? Meaning if I wanted to run one week, and weekend off the next? Is it possible to pick and choose on the fly? Third is do you deadhead a lot? And if so, does TMC still do the over 150 miles pay for that? Seen a few empty TMC trucks, and hoping there’s not a lot of “for free” driving. Last question, Is dress code pants only, or is it possible to wear shorts? I feel like I know the answer, and I know it might seem like a bit silly, but man I burn the hell up, lol. Thanks again, and be safe on the road!
When you first start out it is a challenge to find a happy balance between work and home, but that's mostly because you're new. At most it will take you 90 days to get comfortable. You can freely jump between regional and otr as much as you want. I recommend new drivers to run every other weekend, starting out. TMC pays for bounces over 150. It's rare to get a bounce any bigger than that. Dress code is for when you are working on the load. It's all about safety so pants are a must.
Looks like fun!!😊😊
Mad a road!!
Excavators are the shit. They are a blast to operate. You should go to the GIE Expo in louisville ky. They let you operate all the big boy toys.
Adding to my Bucket list, ty
You had an awesome week. Congrats
Thanks man

How is the sleeping Arrangement during training
All the trucks have two beds. Trainee gets the top one.
How many years did it take you to become a trainer?
I always recommend one year. I think the cut the requirements to 9 months, but a year is much better.
