Unreal. This recall, final fix (new flange and U joint section of drive shaft), was available in 2019. Go figure. Up to then, the flex coupling needed to be replaced every 30k mi. BTW, I’ve seen the flex couplings used in Ford pickups as well .. watch out.
I have a 2010 f-150 4.6. I have a shimmy in 5th gear, all other gears ok. Have you ever encountered this on this transmission? Goes into 6th just fine. Thanks.
Hi Gary, been a while since i have seen any of your videos and expertise in action. Couldn't that guy feel any vibration prior to that disaster or was it sudden? Hard to believe it just failed without any notice but things happen too!! You sure know your job!
@@GaryFerraro Just seemed like he wasn't too concerned about maintenance. I am sure the truck makes him $$$ and he frowns upon downtime however on the other hand look what happened, it cost him $$$ out of his pocket so the old adage pay me now or pay me later has its place at times. I hope you have a protege to pass your knowledge onto, seems you could do those in your sleep. About a year ago i bought a 2023 RAM 1500 Classic with the 8 speed, it cruises at 70 mph at about 1750 rpm and for a 3.6 has plenty of power, 355 ratio helps a bit too.
That would still be covered under the recall. But, thats not your problem. The customer has to call Ford directly to get the dealer to act appropriately. I bet the customer dosen't have the time to wait for that to complete, he'd rather pay you for faster ( probably better) service.
I gave him Ford's Customer service number. I heard that if the thing goes bad as this did they wouldn't cover it. Had to replace Trans case, mounts, brake lines, fuel lines, drive shaft, fuel module. Going to cost between 4-5K.. He should have listened to me
Good stuff - thank you for taking the time to make this. Quick question - I’m going to do a pan drop and filter change on my 6R80 for a 2011 F150. Is the Motorcraft Mercon LV absolutely required? I don’t have any dealerships around so I’d have to order it. I’d like to just use Valvoline ATF if possible. Your thoughts?
@@GaryFerraro Yes - I can get the Valvoline Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid. But people that know far less than you like to say Motorcraft Mercon LV is the only thing you can use. Is that even synthetic? Im going to do the pan drop at 100,000 rather than fords recommended 150,000. That’s ridiculous.
What year transmissions is the recall? I have a 2010 Expedition output shaft to the driveshaft, clicks and moves around when you move it by hand what could that be? Thank you.
hello sir i have a very important question if you can help me please fix my truck! so i have a 97 5.2 jeep grand cherokee orvis that has a 42re transmission with the overdrive unit on it at work a 2000 durango came in with a 5.2 and a 44re but shes the 2wd flavor, from what research ive done i can swap the overdrive unit from the 42re onto the 44re but someone said i need to use the shim from the 42re. is this information correct? Do i need to swap valve bodies also? please sir ANY information would be greatly appreciated! The 44re i can get from the durango is a not very old quality jasper trans so i dont wanna pass on it if it will work. i love your videos and learning about this stuff!!!
Hey Gary.. I have a 07 F150 that neutrals out in reverse when backing a trailer and goes into limp mode. Backs up fine with no load. Is there something simple I can check? Thanks.
@@GaryFerraro no problems in drive at all. One thing I forgot to mention is that there is a good 2 to 3 second delay before it engages reverse after you shift it. I don’t have scanner that reads transmission codes. I have one coming that a friend is loaning me. I’ll post them as soon as I read it. Thanks again.
Love your videos, Maestro. You should have far more subscribers. Enjoy your Long Island summer.
Great Sunday evening viewing Gary, thank you.
thank you brother

Gary, in your expert opinion, are the American copies (6Rs/Torqueflite8s) of the Zf 6HP and 8HP as good as the real Zf???
I would say yes, they have the same problems. You just have to watch on the Transits, the planet splines strip out causing no 4th,5th 0r 6th
Which Generation 6R80 was on the Transit back in 2016?
at this time the TCM was moved outside the unit
Have a 2015 mustang no 456 throwing code p07aa , any ideas ?
sounds like overrdrive clutch may be no good, which could be due to a worn rear stator bushing

this is a 2015 Transit 250

The valvebodies and solenoids i believe are different. I know the solenoids are not the same from 97 to 2000
I will help you

How many miles
@@GaryFerraro it was replaced with a factory unit 95k miles ago. The truck has 240k.
