When are you going to get chickens, and build a nice coop with a long run. or use a chicken tractor. Country Road Cure made a great house out of a 40' x 14' shed. They two bedrooms and two bathrooms a great kitchen and living area. One 30,000 BTU mini split heat pump the does a great job. Kyle, you have shown that you have the skills to do insulation, panel walls and do electrical work. You would have no problem with doing that work for a home. Somewhat larger than Shanon's little office.

Being a retired truck driver I will share my emergency potty with you..a short bathroom size rectangular waste basket. Lined with at least 2 plastic grocery bags. Sit On the waste basket. When done, tie it up, put outside to freeze. Done, no odor. Reline the temp potty for next emergency. It works! 😊

My son's a truck driver he got a new 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Cut a hole in the lid for a seat on top for more comfort. Also, lines with trash bags. Disposes the same way. We're as country as you can get. As long as there's a wind block, it doesn't take long. It's certain you won't be scanning social media while you take care of business. Lol 😅😂😅😂😅😂

“If your RV has not been specially modified to handle cold weather, using antifreeze to flush your RV toilet in the winter is still an option. Ensure the antifreeze you use is non-toxic, as this makes it safer for people using the toilet and for pets that may wander around it as well.” -I share this based on previous camping experiences with my folks in their RV.

I lived in a 32’ RV during a couple winters. I learned it was very helpful to put hay or straw bales around the trailer like skirting, to keep the pipes from freezing. Also found some foam noodle like pieces to wrap the hoses in. Made a huge difference. You are in my prayers 🙏

They are "out of season - they are mostly used for pools.) But you can get some really nice long ones from our friend Amazon! They do work for added insulation! Sending you and your crew at the petting zoo a ton of love, warmth, good feed, and plenty of non frozen water! I also think you should run a board around the foam the goats are chewing. It will also help with insulation and wind block!

Take it from a farm girl, when the weather clears and winter stress is over, Shanon will appreciate a date away from the farm where she can dress like a girl and reclaim her femininity. No matter how much a girl loves her farm life, a little girly break is worth a lot for the ego. Even though she rocks those Carhartts, she's a beautiful young woman, and it's nice to be reminded of that occasionally.

Love how well y’all are handling everything with the weather and all. But just a little bit of advice… You REALLY need to put something over that insulation at the bare minimum of the bottom of it that is easiest for the goats to reach (like a piece of wood a board anything)! That stuff is WAY worse for them to nibble on than it is for them to eat Herc’s food. Just a bit of advice. I grew up on a farm in Illinois for the first 27yrs of my life. Now I’m 50 and live in Arizona, with a different type of farm. I really don’t miss the cold from back there. Y’all are doing awesome! Love y’all ❤️ Blessings

  • @1MartinWaite
    @1MartinWaite 8 місяців тому +6

Hi Kyle and Shanon, I know you’re getting loads of advice on going to the loo but one that I haven’t seen yet is that insulation you’ve used around the camper and the goats pens makes a warm toilet seat that’s used all over Alaska in their outhouses for the same reason so a hole cut into a square of the insulation makes a great potty just cut the hole the same as a toilet seat size and you’ll both be happy to use it. Good luck and keep up loving your animals. An old OG.xx

His head is twice the size of Carly‘s I think. I don’t remember where the others went.❤ when blue has those babies I imagine you’re going to be taking them into Kyle’s shop or Shannon’s shed to keep warm they’re just too little to keep their body temperature up❤

She’s big! Maybe you could put a board around the sheds to cover the bottom of the styrofoam board on the goat sheds to keep those little rascals from eating it. I know it’s extra work but the styrofoam can’t be good for them to eat on. Just a suggestion. Great video. Blessings from OKC . Stay warm, stay safe!♥️

A red, EMERGENCY ONLY, 5 gallon bucket with sawdust under a sturdy, old, plastic or wooden chair works. Make sure the chair has a hole the correct size and that the bucket comes with a lid. Cover the stuff completely with more sawdust stored close by. I know Shannon is mortified right now but in the event you don't have a choice, it won't be quite as repulsive. OFF GRID WITH DOUG AND STACEY opened my eyes to possibilities I never imagined. You're doing a great job! Love you!🧡👋🏼

Yeah, the camper life is grand but does come with some challenges. I learned the same way you guys are in my first year in the camper lol so now I always make sure to drain both the black and gray tanks before a bad cold snap! so if you haven't checked your grey tank you might want to do that lol I put a little bit of vodka in my birds water. It will help keep it from freezing as fast as well as give the birds a little extra warmth inside lol For dealing with the mud and muck, i use horse pellet bedding. It's super absorbent and will help a lot with keeping the area from getting so mucky. It also absorbs odors and makes a big difference! it's super easy to rake out and replace and is relatively inexpensive. I think it's about $7 a 40 pound bag at Tractor Supply. Glad ya'll are staying warm though for the most part! I just keep telling myself that this too shall pass! God bless you both and keep you safe!

You should buy a flushing camping toilet, just foremergencieslike this. (And Shannon can also have one for her office so she doesn't have to run to the camper in an emergency). It has two tanks under it one holds water for flushing one holds the waste. It get like 60+ flushes. If kyle will pee outside, you can get more out of it. Lol. Oh also you use this special chemical that disolves the toilet paper into liquid (and I think you use special tp) but no dude wipes sorry Kyle. When it's time to empty it you just separate the tanks and pour the liquid waste in the toilet. And rinse in the tub. (In your case with a hose when its warmer) and refill the top tank.

    Hello Kyle and Shanon
I lived in a trailer when I first moved to Alabama. (This was 3-ish decades ago) I lived bed there with our 2 kids. My husband was still working in Arizona finishing things up.
We had a coal heater. I carried buckets of coal in.
You will learn so much through this time. It’s a great way to accumulate skills you’ll adapt for later on. You’ll get to share what you learn with others (Like the steel wool/mice… I learned that my first winter in that trailer). You’ll be stronger and so much more bonded to Shady Acres.
These are just trials. You are blessed with a wonderful support network.
The Goats, Doats, Guineas and Herc all look good! Blues Crew will be growing soon!
Blessings of Abundance in all that you need ❤
    ~Linda

I can't wait to see you break ground for your "house". It's gotta be tough living in a camper full time along with all it's issues. The momma bear in me wants better for you.

If you put up a board around tne bottom of the installation (like a shelf) they cant get to it. It dosent have to be big juat enough to make a small shelf.
I love watching you both a S you interact with your fur and feather babies😊

I had Rhodesian Ridgeback and they are considered guard dogs. I socialized her a great deal and had people come into the house often when she was a pup so she always thought people that came to our door were friends and she loved people. But i left her aline in a room with some friends while i went into the other room. One of my friends started to get up but she let out a low growl and would not let any of them move until i got back into the room and then she went back to being friendly.

With the whole Blue's Crew in one nursery, what's going to happen with Harry and Larry when the new baby goats come along? Will they all stay as one?

  • @scannfamily4863

Kyle and Shannon sorry to hear that your pipes froze. There's an insulation you can wrap around the pipes, it's about an 1 inch wide. Also you could try using an insulation called Rockwool. Mice, squirrel's and other rodents don't like it at all. Just a few suggestions. You might be able to get Rockwool insulation and attach to the bottom of the camper making the floor extremely warm. I would just add it to the inside of the foam insulation you already have around the camper. Just a few tips that will help you out. It would also help keep the camper cool in the summer. Thank You for sharing videos of your animals. We finally after 6 days of negative temperatures got above freezing for about 2 hours today. It was sub-freezing temperatures here, Tuesday we got down to -4 with a wind-chill of -35. We're going to have two days below freezing then we're going to be in the 30's and 40's. Try staying warm and be safe. Much Love from our family to your family 💞

You could always run a 1x2 around the insulation edge so the goats don't eat it.

    • @stilllearning8360
      @stilllearning8360 8 місяців тому +3

@bethburkett2753 Yes, I was going to suggest something similar. And they can just tack/staple every 12" or so. That way easy to remove later. Can't help worrying about those darling goofy goats eating that "junk" although I know "goats eat everything" or so I've heard 😁😂

    I grew up
In Northeast Ohio, lived in Northern California next than moved to Northern Texas (FTW).
It’s the coldest I’ve ever lived in now. Freezing pipes, etc. we finally warmed up a little today. Cold at night. Heading towards warmer weather, in a few days colder again.
I feel your pain and antics where you are at, be safe Kyle and Shannon❣️. Allow people to help you. We all need it and understand their offer. Most humanity is meant to help one another. Thank for them.
The Herc Show is just adorable. Again💋💋💋🐾🐾🦴🦴🦴🦴🐐🐐🐐🌲✌️☮️🤡🫶🏼❣️

Hi there huge respect for seeing it through and finding solutions to the problems. Would have been easy to of gone to somewhere warm but you didn’t. Hope you’re ok though and managing to keep warm. Amazing how you’re both maintaining positivity and dealing with the everyday chores with a smile whilst freezing. Take care of yourselves and if things become unbearable take up those offers of kindness. Your health and wellbeing comes first. Take care and God Bless. 🙏💕

😮You should just put a board covering up all the lower edges of the foam core on their shelters, that way they can't eat it, it is NOT something they should ever eat!!!

Guess it got lost. Just an idea but would it help if you wrap all pipes, drain pipes and water pipes with heat tapes, so nothing freeze up!!!!! Then unplug them after all freezing weather is over. ????
