Thanks so much!!! It was amazing, to be sure! You had quite the challenge with that lens of yours, and were lucky to get the amazing camera shot you blended in. At what point did you figure out it was the Red Bull team?
I had a GoPro MAX 360 on the left wingtip, a GoPro Hero 12 Black on the right wingtip, and a GoPro Hero 10 Black in the cockpit for cockpit and ATC audio. I screwed up with the 12 by using the Linear lens setting, which in practice meant that it didn’t capture either the horizon or the eclipsed sun in level flight, and barely got both in frame when the plane was banked steeply. My bad…
Now that I’ve witnessed a total eclipse from both vantage points, I’d argue that one isn’t ‘better’ than the other, but just ‘different’. Both are spectacular.
Pretty cool. The way that wing warped and gave you a 360 degree horizon was wild. Thx for sharing.
That was a cool video Steve.
Thanks for sharing..

Glad you enjoyed it, J-A! Are you coming to this side of the pond any time soon?

It wasn’t until a friend sent me the link to the Red Bull posting/photo that we figured it out.
Awesome!!
Thanks!
14:49 was a sweet shot.
Awesome job! What was the wing tip camera rig?

@@SteveZimmermannAtHome Still way cool. I've spent some time in DA40s and DA42s, but that DA62 looks like a sweet ride. Thanks!
Still think experience on the ground was heck of a lot better.
