- Hello everyone! Today's video will be about the Malaysian-spec 2017 Proton Saga four door saloon with the 1.3 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 94hp/95PS paired to a CVT in the Executive trim.
Below is the list of current Saga four door saloon variants available in Malaysia as of 6th November 2017. I arranged it from the cheapest to the most expensive.

for me proton give a such good job to saga..its quiet kabin than new persona but the interior look so damn old compare to bezza.. only exterior for me its does best..but the way it driving, compare to bezza..bezza more to town driving and saga has heavy handling..i wanna ask u for fuel economy its saga ok ???

Proton actually should make this car's rear seat fold down into 2-3 pieces and not one whole piece.
Imagine if the rear seat folded down in one whole piece, the passenger who wanted to sit behind will be very difficult.
I would buy if the price of used falls to 15-20k,good for pekan use shopping grocery car
I think the new price is reasonable too. But I do agree, it is a good runabout car.
u can get a chinese car with much better options and look with same or even lower price. chinese cars are not like before. they are much better now. have look at jac j5 which is infact cheaper than this with super cheap maintenance

I think proton shud add another topping variant with modern features like touch screen
Personally I think Proton should improve on the safety features rather than unnecessary features like a touch screen in a basic car, although it would be a bonus to have one.
With the current interior layout, the position of the radio is rather low and it isn't really suitable for a touchscreen to be placed there anyway.
I would prefer the looks of the saga compared to the bezza...but overall the bezza wins the features and safety

In all honesty... despite the efforts which many Malaysian appreciates (A for effort? I suppose)
The exterior is decent looking enough, but the interior looks worse (in my opinion) to the Nissan Sentra back in the 90's, which is 27 years ago!
I quite like the new Saga. It may not be the fanciest car around, but it is functional. The interior is basic and that is something I'd prefer over fancy touchscreens and smart key systems. The only downside I would say is the safety features are quite old school (ESC only on the top Premium trim, 2 airbags standard across the range).
I will not say that its not functional, cause its still just a car, and if it gets you from point A to point B, its done its job. Apart from that though and do forgive me for my blatantly honest, but that's as functional as it gets.
I'm sure no one is expecting touch screens or even smart key systems for this price, and yes, safety should be the primary concern for every average Malaysian Joe, so there is no excuse as to why they couldn't better equip this car with more safely features.
After all, who is their primary market? Malaysians! Please if nothing else, make safety your first priority, and not as a OPTIONAL add-on, like some other car makers.

sorry proton u need to upgrade yr dashboard its look too old school & ugly the plastics also like toys plastic fragile & easily scratch & the most frustrated was the signal turn...why must its on the left hand sight...come on this is malaysia not europe!
The position of the indicators have nothing to do with the country or continent... to be honest, this set up (indicators/lights on the left and wipers on the right) is more convenient and should be implemented in more cars in Malaysia.
Either left or right signal stick people still dont use it to take a corner tho. Hehe i got both perodua axia n proton saga. Still feel good either left or right panel as long as it can turn with signal.

New car but it looks 10 years old
Ferry Krommert Proton reused the platform from the previous generation Saga and the equipment you get on the inside is pretty much average even for the range topping Premium. Nothing much you should expect.
Also if you pay attention, a lot of parts especially in the interior are also reused from other Protons. The engine from the Iriz, the steering wheel and double din headunit(If you choose the Premium trim level) came from the Exora, and other bits like the door mirrors, AC controls, gauges, gear shift trim all came from the previous Saga.
Re-used to cut budget. Its Saga at all.
The looks are fresh, but the platform used is from the previous Saga. The engine + transmission is the same as the Saga FLX, but with improvements to make it more fuel efficient. The dashboard 'structure' is based on the previous model as well, but it has been heavily revised. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with this setup as it has been tried and tested before. Many manufacturers also do this (first gen 308 is based on the 307's chassis, MK6 Golf is based on the MK5 Golf's chassis, etc.)
alexlovesmac you're right, and the car is probably just fine but for a 2017 model is just looks dated. If this car came out 10 years ago I think it would fit in with the rest.
