    Thanks for sharing this, I’ve been wanting to get one, so I have been dropping hints around my 3 daughters! I thought it would be a good Mother’s Day gift! They had some concern about my safety, me being in my small stocked craft room with a wood burning tool! They joked and had some good laughs! We’ll see! Thanks again!

    I love this Trendy Tree gal--I've learned SO MUCH from you, including how to use a wood burner to reduce fraying on mesh. I hate the fraying problem, so wish me luck with my new toy.

      You can also cut a piece of cardboard 10in by 10in and wrap the mesh around till its all wrapped and its all used from the roll. Wrap it tight but not so tight u cant get ur scissors thru on the 2 sides to cut!! So all you had to do was make 2 cuts on each side of your cardboard and you have all your pieces cut at once!!

    It would be great if you coud show how you attached the blade to the pen...maybe next time?

      Thanks for watching. It's been a while since I used it, but I think the blade just pushed into the tip. Just follow the manufacturer directions.

      If I used it for hours at a time frequently, I would wear a mask and may be an extra fan blowing or something. You would need ventilation if you worked with it all the time I think. Thanks for watching!

    I am wondering if the glass has ever broken on you due to the heat? I have called 2 craft stores and they both said that was a possibility. Have you ever experienced that? I am going to cut lots of deco mesh and afraid it will break due to the heat. Thank you!

    • @trendytree
      @trendytree  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for watching. I've never had the glass to break, but I only use the heat knife on occasion, mostly when I make flower wreaths with poly burlap. And nowaday I only make a wreath every now and then. But it's the same kind of glass that holds up in a microwave. I've never heard any of my crafting friends to say anything about a problem and some of them give there constant use.

    Does it work on all mesh?

    • @trendytree
      @trendytree  Рік тому

      Works well with just the Polypropylene mesh, for me anyway, Not the styles that have jute or cotton in them. I usually just use a rotary cutter on anything other than poly burlap.

    Does anyone know what tip she used to keep the blade in place

  • @BrittanyS143
    @BrittanyS143 3 роки тому +1

    Hello, I have a suggestion for you on burning that burlap!!!! Take a piece of CARDBOARD and cut it 10 inches ( or whatever size your cutting yours) than take ur burlap and wrap it around the cardboard till its all wrapped around your cardboard and cut on both sides!!!! You only have to make 2 cuts and you dont need no wood burner lol!!! I hope this helps iv been tryin to tell everyone that i see doing to much!! There is a lady on utube that i seen doing it. Ill let u know what video to watch. I dont know how to link it to u so ill just text the name of the video!! Her channel is My Diy shes great and she has 2 ways to cut burlap with her 10in cardboard. Now if you cant use scissors with your hands than a roll blade would help to its like a pizza cutter lol but its a cutter for fabric ribbon mesh!!

    shouldn't you be wearing a mask and doing this task in a well-ventilated room or outside? I heard the fumes can be toxic to humans and pets.

    • @trendytree
      @trendytree  2 роки тому

      There was a ceiling fan going, and if I did this every day I would wear a mask, but it was just for a tutorial. Customers had been asking how to use the tool so I gave it a try. Thank you for watching)))

    Michelle from A Noble Touch created the wood burning technique. It would have been nice if you would have given her credit.

    • @trendytree
      @trendytree  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching and thanks for your comment. I never knew who the first person was to use a heat knife! Most of the time I just use a rotary cutter. Michelle makes beautiful flower wreaths and I've seen those, but I haven't seen her tutorials. I'll have to search them out and watch. Thank you for mentioning it))

      I realize this comment is 2 years old, but I sure hope Michelle gets all the credit she deserves for one day deciding to pick up a wood burner to cut Deco Mesh! In a world where humans have developed crafts to fly in, cars to drive in, building skyscrapers that reach astounding heights, one day Michelle had a thought that she just could not shake; "What if I used a tool used for burning wood to cut the deco mesh??" she may have asked herself. But then, she not only carried out the task, she was "the first" to defy logic and actually develop the technique. Can you imagine?!? A wood burning tool of all things! I declare.Such a novel ideal! Orville & Wilbur and all the crafter a from seasons past are surely cheering "Go Michelle!!!" with excitement from the spiritual plane.
      But seriously, the audacity of some folk amazes me. To make a post on someone's video to garner thanks for someone doing something that anyone could think of and do is ridiculous. I shudder to think if Michelle has used toenail cutters to cut the mesh with. 😱
