I am also a "step mom" but we don't use the word "step" in our family. My husbands first wife and I are good friends because we love the children. My parents divorced at the time when there had to be “photographic evidence” of infidelity. Absolutely guaranteed to shred the family to pieces. As it did. The “erring” parent did not have access to his children with the end result that the divorce wasn’t just between the married couple but it divorced the children as well, including one set of grandparents. Result: children with no father, he with no access to them, they without one set of grandparents. Children totally bewildered and distressed. Then those children marry……..

I love this story, because of the respect that those people had (and have) for eachother. It shows me that Doug has a good relation with his former wife, that she is a decent person and that Kamala was careful in her behaviour when meeting him and before meeting the children. I like that.
