Ikr?
My theory is that Pauly Shore wasn’t instructed to voice his lines like this. He probably knew that the production company would be unlikely to find another English-speaking celebrity willing to be in the film so he started messing around to see what he could get away with, and they were either too scared to call his bluff or just didn’t give a crap.

I love how for a Pinocchio movie they forget the entire "When he lies his nose grows" thing. Which was like 99% of the original.
They forgot that thing about nose because this is NOT that pinocchio, you are used to. This is kind of hybrid between Pinoccio and russian " Buratino ". In Buratino wooden boy doesn't has growing nose and stuff, circus ( what was the theater in the original, if I remember right. ) and Bella ( or Malvina ) is also taken from the Russian version. But the horse... The horse is taken from nowhere.
@@darklariaat4725 Is Pinocchio a mistranslation then? Or did they kind of just jam it into one story, then go EHH yeah lets just call it pinocchio
I’m pretty sure it was because they couldn’t afford the budget to make his nose grow lol

Pauly Shore: **Wakes up** “What a beautiful day in 2022! What could possibly go wrong?”
**Checks his computer and sees a trailer for a movie he casted in 10 years ago**
Pauly Shore: “Oh God.. I didn’t think it would actually get released.”
This whole movie looks like a mobile game ad
Imagine if Disney wrote their songs like this movie…
‘Yes our teeth and ambitions are bared!’
‘Be certain you are in readiness!’
I would have to get drunk then before I see it.
Kinda reminds me of a tactic seen in the anime “Ghost Stories.”
It did very poorly when it got released in Japan so the people who handed it over to the english dub team were like, “Do what you want and maybe make it crazy, but don’t change the meaning of the words.”
Anyways, it came out as a comedic masterpiece with a ton of meme worthy stuff. Probably one of the *THE* best english dubs out there.
In this movie’s case, the directors probably thought it sucked anyways so instead of making it your typical bad movie, they made it your typical bad movie but with comedic styling. Now that’ll get the kids laughing 😎👍
Its not because your a rabbit..... its because you're BLack
First thing that came to my mind when I saw the memes was ghost stories dub.
Same.
Especially a fact that I found i another comment said if this movie actually only for Russia untill *this* studio brought it to English viewer.
They didn't say not to change the meaning of the words, they said not to change the overarching plot. If it was the same words, it would have been a lot worse
I don't think it's for kids tho.
"I shall call her female daddy" That was a perfect line and cracked me up
14:28 "They escape the KKK's furry convention" is something I never thought I'd hear. XD
Coincidentally, that was also the title of my college thesis
This legit looks and sounds like it was made by the same dudes who made Ratatoing and yet this is an authentic movie from Lionsgate.
It's actually Russian movie, which makes perfect sense. In fact, this isn't even worst movie in terms of animation.
Fun little fact horses actually have thinner skin then humans and feel more pain. Spurs actually hurt horses a lot and can scar their skin. Love your videos by the way c: I've watched them all♡
No they don't. People like you would think if a horse wasn't wearing a blanket with their winter coat, it's "abuse". 😒
According to ncbi.nlm.nih.gov,
“Although horse skin is thicker overall than human skin, the part of the skin that is thicker does not insulate them from pain that is generated during a whip strike, and that humans and horses have the equivalent basic anatomic structures to detect pain in the skin.” Basically, humans and horses feel pain the same. Also, they do not feel cold equivalent to humans.
Oh my god! I didn’t know this (obviously)! Totally makes me never want wear spurs on horses again. Thanks for sharing. And for watching my videos! That’s seriously so nice of you! :D Happy to entertain.
OMG I was just looking for this comment, i stopped immediately after he said that and groaned. hahaha
only when used improperly; obviously, spurs should not be used with the goal to inflict pain. they can be a valuable aid in riding when used correctly, since the difference in location and intensity of pressure can convey a much wider variety of signals than a leg aid. some elements of higher level dressage are almost in achievable without the use of spurs to clarify leg aids. Riding with spurs is like painting with a thin paintbrush-you can create detail more easily-while riding without them is like painting with a thicker paintbrush (it’s possible to get that same amount of precision, but it requires a lot of training, time, and effort)
of course, most people who use spurs do not use them in the intended way. rather, they use them to localize the pressure of their leg aids so that less-responsive horses respond quicker. using them in this way can cause pain and is irresponsible; it doesn’t address the core issue like proper training does.
I’ve spent most of my life riding hunt seat, but I’ve experimented in other disciplines of riding too. Across all disciplines, I’ve seen many times more horses with scars, permanent health problems, and behavioral issues from badly fitting saddles than from spurs. ultimately, spur use causes less harm to horses than other issues like saddle fit and lack of proper training and conditioning do.
tl;dr spurs allow for precision when used properly but can be harmful when used improperly
"Would you be so kind as to show me your handkerchief?"
"I don't think I have it."
"Of course not, you left it in my mouth, remember?"
HOLY SHIT I laughed so hard at this
I didn’t know I needed fruity Pinocchio in my life but here we are
So, if someone wonder, these characters make sense to russians. Thing is, there was a writer who needed money so he translated pinocchio with very little knowlage of the lenguage. So at the end it turned out a completely different story (also pinocchio became buratino) . Idk what parts are the same, but seems like talking cat and fox are not in the original.
Main villian Karabas-Barabas had puppet theatre, but they all for some reason were alive, blue hair girl also was there, but it's third character who was in love with her. Also talking cat and fox wasn't the weirdest. After they robbed buratino, they threw him in pond so he drown, but he is wood, so it's fine. Then he meets OLD WISE TURTLE WHO TELLS HIM STORY ABOUT GOLDEN KEY. And i don't remember really how it goes, but he finds the key, puppets rebel against Karabas Barabas and at the end they find door behind picture of fire place in buratino's house and it leads down to gaint beautiful theatre and puppets live happily and give concerts there now. Like.... Idk what's going on there, but now i want to watch the cartoon again

"The KKK's furry convention" - when the commentator's writing is funnier than the entire movie. Really happy I found this channel, can't wait to see more content!
I really hope the voice actors had the time of their life working on this movie, 'cause I surely had.
Among the memes and the dub itself being an absolute masterpiece of "It's so strange that they kept this but damn this is good!", this movie is probably among the ones that you keep rewatching and that make you laugh every single time despite it's flaws.
the true question is why an old lonley man felt the need to make a life size puppet of a young boy
18:46 okay but why did the detective have to go for seconds on pushing that handkerchief further in Pinocchio’s mouth? Lmaoo wild💀
IKR
Another fun fact: the reason the horse started running is that the horse was not expecting to get hit and horses dont have vision like us. They almost cant see anything infront of them or anything right behind them making the horse spook because it could not see what hit him and so then running away from it. (In other words he spooked at the pin cone because he did not see it)
I just realized my hair/hat looks really similar to Pinocchio’s! I did not mean to do that wtf
It makes the experience even better honestly XD
Cool ngl

Absolutely loved your reaction to the movie, I feel so bad that John Heder got roped into this, he probably had to owe someone back and this movie was the debt payment🤣

Equine here just to say that horses don't have thick skin. It's a very famous myth. Their skin is actually a lot sensitive and thinner to us so they feel more pain than we do. They just don't show it since they were evolved to not show weakness.
Btw I loved the video :)

@@ArtoriasAndSiffo sorry😂
@@ShrekWazowski490 Worry not good sir
This would be technically the second coming of Pauly Shore, he did have a pretty decent though mediocre career in the 90s and 2000's
They also spelled Tybalt wrong.
At least they could have used the Italian spelling, Tebaldo.
Why is that horse named after a SHAKESPEARE character anyway.
They are aware enough of the book to put a Mastro Ciliegia reference. Even if the Fairy and the blue-haired girl are two separate entities-- I HATE it.
I waa wondering he the hirse was namef tybalt, too!
Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but Russia has its own version of Pinocchio, "Buratino," which is based to some degree off the original stories. Maybe this film took some from that as the source material?
Was the horse even in the original story and where is Jiminy cricket isn’t he like one of the main people in the original Pinocchio?
@@supertails0246 No, I don't recall a horse in the original even though I haven't read it in a while. There was a plethora of talking animal characters that didn't make it into the Disney cut, like a parrot, a snake, an anthropomorphic dog, a slug, a tuna, a crab and a goat with a blue hide which is heavily hinted to be the Fairy in disguise.
Also in the original story the Cat and the Fox (which are called just that in the book) don't work for Mangiafuoco, who's not even a bad guy after all. Or for the owner of Pleasure Island for that matter... come to think of it, where IS Pleasure Island in this version? Or the Donkey children? What even IS this movie?
Bottom line if any of you want a fully loyal adaptation of this story watch the Enzo d'Alò version from 2012. It's on UA-cam too for what I've seen.
@@miticaBEP07 and Geppetto does not even get eaten by a whale like in the original
100% bet the English voice actors weren’t given a script. They were just tied to chairs and forced to watched the movie twice. after, they had to record their lines completely improved whilst they had guns to their heads
7:49 is just too damn funny
21:18 maybe this was a literal translation of the song. You know, like when they try to be accurate when translating Japanese songs in anime and video games instead of converting it into a rhyme scheme like most fandubs on UA-cam tend to do.
They should redub it Ghost Stories style with the OC VAs.
I respect you for having 'Bold And Brash' in your recording area
Casting Paula shore is the best decision any film can do☝🏼
I love your commentary. :') It reminds me of watching a bad movie with my friends and making fun of it. Also, the circus crowd is so astounded by the puppet that's "alive", but they don't care about the talking anthropomorphic cat and fox...?
6:20
Not to detract from how bad the movie is or even the coincidence, but depending on the horse, they'll easily be scared by anything from a big bird to a styrofoam cup. I could believe a horse would be spooked by something randomly hitting it's butt.
Maybe not a trained carriage horse, but that's a different question.
When Pinnochio wanted to make Tybalt, who is his closest friend, his new daddy, I rolled my eyes so hard because "making best friends have father-son relationships as a side plot that doesn't add anything to the main story" happens to be a pattern with Vasiliy Rovenskiy when starring Pauly Shore in his movies. Please go watch The Big Trip (2019) on UA-cam and see for yourself, it's so fucking weird
Aight, let's see what the Food Fight 2.0 is going on here.
On another review of this movie they pointed out that when Pinocchio comes into the circus, I think for the first time to preform, someone in the background chatter says “Oh my fucking god” LMAO

The thing that sucks is that Pauly CAN voice act or at the very least he knows how to create a voice that fits for the character he's playing. Bobby from the Goofy Movie series worked because Pauly nailed the chill but nice bro vibes that Bobby gave off. So I just don't understand how he couldn't channel the same cartoony energy into this. If anything, it doesn't work because the character and animation have no life to them either. They're as basic and bland as you can get for a 2022 CG production so hiring VAs who can...ACT and are behind some of the most energetic characters around was red flag 1.
Flag 2 was that this was just a basic retelling of a retelling OF A RETELLING of Pinocchio that was retold for the Soviet Union so a lot of people outside of that will NOT know what is going on and assume that it's a cheap knock off which...it IS but just not the knock off they think it is. And yes, insert Russian joke here but when you look back at Russia's own history with animation this chunk of shit will make you go 'WHAT THE FUCK?'
Watch The Snow Queen or the Magic Pony, two films that are around 60-70 years old...and then watch this and it's such tonal whiplash knowing there are some hidden gems in Russian animation but for some fucking reason, THIS was shoved into the mainstream and this is what people are going to go to whenever they hear 'Russian animation!'.
I agree that Pauly can act. It was either the director giving him weird or intentionally bad notes, or Pauly Shore himself gave zero fucks and turned in one of the funniest performances as a troll. The animation didn’t deserve good acting, so maybe the dubbing company just took a paycheck. Bang Zoom is the company that dubbed it and they dub a ton of anime, so they had the resources to yield better performances. Someone just didn’t want to.
I love your point about Russian animation, too! The fact that everyone will now point to this dumpster fire as the example of Russian animation is laughably disappointing. I will be sure to check out those films you recommended!
Ok this is the second time in a video you’ve mentioned Ivan the Incredible which means you have to review it next

just informing you, horses have thinner skin than humans and more nerve endings so they feel more pain. Also, most good equestrians dont use spurs anymore because that would be considered abuse. (and its realistic that a horse would be scared if something hit its backside out of nowhere) I just like to inform people on horses as they can be really misunderstood animals.

This should be a new type of movie or genre. There's that one scene where the horse is making wood jokes about pinocchio's parents being trees and why he likes hanging out in the forest etc.. it legit killed me. Someone has to make a petition to get some producer out there to make "on purpose" another film with this type of.. what feels like "stage play" acting, as the main feat.
