My family does digital grocery flyer app for weekly shopping and make a shopping list before leaving the house. This rule of making a list and buying from the list is very important. If it is not on sale, we don’t buy (and wait), and purchase what are on sale. Thus, giving us room to buy brand name products. When they do go on sale, we stock up enough for the next cycle sale, leading us to have our favorite items on hand. We go to large chain supermarkets that price matches other well known supermarkets, thus saving on time and gas. My family is well into baby steps 7 and we are still mindful of the 4 walls. Stealth wealth is still the best place to live and enjoy life. Thank Rachel for this video. You are awesome! 👍

As a retired person who was raised by depression era parents. It's almost hard for me to comprehend you having to detail these steps to adults. But I must say your doing a great Job. Living on borrowed money is a debt against your future. Pay as You Go....Having fallen in to the debt trap before I understand, but thank God He showed me the way out. Thru fugal living and giving.

Used quality, and safe cars are the way to go. Best mileage possible while being safe. Start saving for the next car when you purchase one. Cars are not an investment. They are tool.

There is wiggle room in your utilities! I cut heat back in winter and upped the thermostat in the summer to save on gas/electric. Even got rid of internet for a time. Turned the lights off when leaving a room...and often determined they didn't need to be turned on at all. There are So Many things one Can control when gazelle intense! A lot of the 'sacrifices' I made actually became life behaviors... cuz it's Really Nice to have both money and margin 😊

Costco pizza scratches the out-to-eat itch for us. $10 feeds our family of 5. Can still be cheaper to cook at home, but when you can’t stand it anymore, Costco pizza.

Some people don't take medication though. I'm 40 in ohio and don't take medicine. Never have. Don't smoke cigarettes and am healthy.

Feel alone on my journey but knowing you guys are there & seeing everyone in the comments section makes me feel like I’m doing the right thing. Everyone has a different take on budgeting but these steps have really helped me regain that light at the end of the tunnel.

Cherish being alone for a while. It's a good excuse to remain focused on your missions(s) in life. Self improvement, both...financially, and physically. We waste FAR too much time worrying about making time and saving our energy for others..only to find out often it just wasn't worth it...pointless get togethers with idiots watching football and always eating junk food...when instead...delivery food doing Uber Eats or work out..hit some dumbbells or chin up bar to get naturally jacked like a boss.

"You can do Breakfast for dinner (super cheep), do taco night, do spaghetti." On baby step 4, and did all of those last week. Thanks Rachel :)
One tradition in our family is 'Friday Pizza & a Movie' at home. Instead of ordering out (we stopped doing that when Papa John's got over $22 a pie for Pizza & delivery)... I'll go to Aldi and pick up a $7 extra large pizza, a pack of mushrooms ($1.50) and a pack of chicken wings ($12 every 2 weeks, freezing the other half). So, for $14.50 per Friday... plus a marginal cost in wing sauce (I make my own), my family of 3 can do pizza, wings & a movie every Friday. Is it more work then getting a pie delivered? Sure is. Is it way better? Sure is that too!

The only delivery service I use is grocery delivery. Trying to take 3 kids shopping with you you always spend more taking them in the store with you then paying for delivery.

Okay, there was a time in my life that I briefly was a SAHM. I had three children of my own, cared for a fourth child for daycare and had a niece whom I cared for as well. I clearly remember grocery shopping with all FIVE and we didn’t have a problem because they knew the word NO! People today are afraid to say NO. It is a powerful word, and it instills in the children that they will not get everything they want. Pretty much what the world will teach them if you don’t.

Our rent is $3050. It’s a third of our monthly take home pay. It would be worse if we owned a house with these prices.

Thanks for bringing up “challenge”. That happens to be what motivates me. My husband and I are on the same page. However, I can drive him crazy bc I have a tendency to be a bit over zealous and go crazy when I find a new way to safe. 🤷‍♀️

All these hater comments, like Rachel's dad wasnt DAVE FREAKEN RAMSEY who I'm sure instilled these money principals in his kids when they were young. She gets to enjoy nice things now, because she did these wise things earlier. THAT AND GIVING OUTRAGEOUSLY IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE BABYSTEPS 👻

Where do you put insurance? Obviously, if you own a house or car, insurance is required. But what about health or life insurance? I have no dependents so life insurance is not applicable for me, but I worry that if I don't have health insurance, the ramifications can be dire.

I don’t consider health insurance a necessity. BUT, I’m saying that I am in Australia and we have great healthcare for everyone. If I was living in the US then yes, get insurance. Then it is a necessity!
