    Thanks for the honest review! And yes he paid full price for it. For everyone wondering about dyno results it’s very hard, time consuming and not to mention expensive to do a true apples to apples test. Porting will gain power. Sometimes 5rwhp and sometimes 10-15hp. To some it’s worth it and to others it isn’t. But when the vehicle is limited to mods because there isn’t much support that’s where porting comes in. When done right you’ll see a difference hope this helps and I have tons of dyno data on my instagram on a few manifolds I’ve had the chance to dyno. Great video 👍

    Thanks Fondupot. I had no idea the intake had to come off for a spark plug change, so now I do. Excellent tutorial, very detailed with all the connections. I'll probably watch this a few times in preparation for my plug change in a year or two. Appreciate all your effort in making these videos.

    Thanks for the video. I was able to R/R my intake to replace the t-stat and temp sensor. Plugs were changed while I was in there, 60k miles. T-stat sticking open when highway driving with defroster on, temp would drop below threshold. Thanks again bud!

    I recently pulled my intake to install a Mallett supercharger and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do. My intake runners and valves were surprisingly clean after 55K miles, but I'd been running premium for some time and use a can of Seafoam with my oil changes every 5K.
    I used painter's tape to keep debris out while I was working, but I still made sure to change the oil after the job was done and I'd run the engine for a bit. Why take a chance if some dust and debris could have gotten in?
    And I did still put a touch of anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs along with some dilectric grease up top for the boots.

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  3 місяці тому +1

      Very cool. I want to do a Mallet too! Maybe one day…..
      Just FYI the anti seize is not needed. The threads on moser spark plugs are treated with an anti seize coating when they are manufactured. The GM tech link says specifically not to use anti seize on the threads because it reduces friction when tightening and can cause over torquing, and that can lead to snapping the spark plug off.

      @JoeMoutard 3 місяці тому

      @@fondupot Yeah, I know what they say. But coatings aside, it is steel threading into aluminum for 100K miles by their own recommendations and being subjected to brutal thermal cycles all along the way. I'm comfortable enough with my own ability to feel it out as I'm applying the torque and not strip or break anything.
      I will also say that after spending 18 years working with service data at Ford, I have no issues calling BS on such things. You'd be amazed at how many engineers have never turned a wrench and how inadequately they can estimate the stresses of long term real world conditions.
      I'll keep my little dab of anti-seize

    After 6 months, have you had a chance to get your truck dynoed after the intake install? Have you noticed any MPG differences? I actually looked up the Camaro LGX ported manifolds and i've read conflicting reports of MPG increases and losses, i'm curious to know what experience you've had. Also aside from the idea of a chassis dyno, what does the butt-dyno say? Intake manifold airflow can be tricky, i'm sure whatever gains this has given you, you picked up more torque over HP.

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  15 днів тому +1

      I didn’t bother with a dyno. Butt-dyno feels a slight power increase. It’s not monumental, but noticeable. MPG stayed about the same, but most of this trucks driving is around town, not a whole lot of highway. The truck seems to like it. Haven’t had any problems or concerns to note.

    There are many V6's out there that require removal of intake manifold . That is one of the reasons I bought my Colorado with I-4. My manual 6 speed has no shudder.Horrible design plastic manifold, and remove for plugs? I do not tow,so the I -4 works for me, and I have 30 mpg hwy!

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  6 місяців тому

      This is the first V6 I’ve ever owned. So it was new to me. My 8 speed has been great. No shudder here. 30 mpg is great for a truck tho! Thanks for watching.

    I'm curious to why your intake valves have so much coking, the new LGZ is supposedly fixed (band aid) the issue by dumping oil/fuel mix back in pan with the GM 12668439 Separator ASM-PCV Oil. Mine tuned and all after 500 mile break in was clean and now ill have test on oil after 5300 miles Amsoil 5w30, then Tracy Lewis Catch Can installed 5300 miles again ill borescope and test oil. Ill give some updates. Step by step will follow

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  2 місяці тому +2

      It’s just typical Direct Injection. Even the best PCV system is still gonna let some
      Blow by through. And there’s no fuel wash like port injection to clean the build up off. Your catch can will probably be dry. Others have tested and they don’t get any oil in them. It’s coming from the intake and the breathers. Not the PCV.

    Will it be pretty similar for a 2016 Colorado?

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes very similar. The 2015-2015 LFX intake manifold looks different but the overall process will be roughly the same.

    What are the performance numbers before and after? Are there any gains in horsepower, torque, or mpg?

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  6 місяців тому

      Seat of the pants dyno says yes to HP and torque. I’ve had it installed for less than a day so I can’t comment on mpg just yet. Others who I talked to that also installed a ported manifold reported increased mpg tho. So I’m curious to see what the net benefits are.

    • @TheDieselndust
      @TheDieselndust 6 місяців тому

      @@fondupot kind of useless if you didn’t do a dyno pull before and after doing this modification. We’re just supposed to take your word for it?

    • @fondupot
      @fondupot  6 місяців тому

      @TheDieselndust it’s not a monumental increase in performance. Not worth paying for a dyno, IMHO. But I can understand your apprehension.
