    I'd also like to mention something that personally helped me when I was drawing in general. I've noticed that when I listen to my favourite songs while I draw, I tend to enjoy the process more. and I sometimes get more new ideas! Music may not be for everyone, but from personal experience, my favourite songs get me excited to draw and work WHILE I'm working.

      Oh, for sure, for sure! I always listen to my favorite music while drawing too :D Although I always keep separate playlists for writing and drawing otherwise I'll just get distracted by my favorite music while trying to write, ahaha xD

    That 'What If..? Method' sounds fun! Like plotting out different timelines with the same characters and picking the best/funnest one! Thanks so much for this! I love hearing from people with experience and since I really wanna start something soon, this was posted just in time!

    Ooh I remember I saw you promoting Prism World on reddit a couple months ago and I've been hooked ever since even though I read over 150 ongoing webtoons. I love reading your comic, and I'm glad you've gone out of your way to share your knowledge on comic creation. I'm also an artist myself in the process of planning out a comic, so this video is very much appreciated :)

    I like to draw as I write. Nothing detailed. Just thumbnail sketches (that are so rough, only I can tell what's going on in them, lol) It helps me to visualise the final picture and it's also good for later on when drawing the actual comic.
    Side note: I absolutely love your earrings. They are adorable omg.

    8:36 same. I’m still in the writing process but I’ve been working on the writing part for a while and I literally got like 5 seasons down into the doc (26 episodes in each season) and decided to go with a different route since it was moving too fast and I had like 5 main characters. So I made 3 new stories, 2 of them have 2 characters and 1 has one of them. But I’m not working in it yet cause I’m doing a starter to see how it’ll go.

    Ok, when you said the thing about sci-fi… I have made SO many plots TRYING to get a story right and I think I’ve finally found it, but I SWEAR the change from first concepts to end result is… it went from spies training to be in the enemy’s guard to crazy lesbian mad scientists to new girl in town but it’s a whole new galaxy but she’s an alien but she’s a scientist there for research… I don’t know if I can even count them as part of the same process, the only string connecting them is some names…

    • @prism_world
      @prism_world  Рік тому

      Haha, sometimes that happens though! I have a secondary story I came up with years ago that's evolved so much it's almost unrecognizable outside of some of the characters XD Honestly, sometimes that's for the best! Once you've got your base down though, definitely try playing around with the smaller plot points (have fun with it ^^)

    I'm a book writer that wants to start writing comics. I think the thing that makes me more unsure of how to start is to write the script itself. Probably because I've never written a script, so, don't even know if i should just go for it or not kkk

    • @prism_world
      @prism_world  Рік тому

      The good news is, if you're doing it for yourself, there really isn't a right or wrong way to write a script! You can write as much (or as little) information as you please :D If you're unsure though, I'd suggest checking out other writers' scripts. As for me, I basically type the character's name and what they're saying and doing in a specific panel. I'll write more in-depth notes if there's something very specific I have in mind, but otherwise it's relatively simple ^^ It's definitely different than book writing, but once you get into the swing of it it's pretty fun!

    I have a hard time thinking of when the story should begin. like I'll think of a start but then there is more before that, that could be told?

    • @prism_world
      @prism_world  2 роки тому +1

      Hm, every story is different and obviously it's your choice where you want to start! As a general rule, it's best to keep your beginning engaging and avoid info dumping off the bat. Get your audience to care about your characters and the rest will follow. You can always bring up lore later on and even use flashbacks (in moderation) when necessary to tell more of your story.
      As for me, I've written a few side stories that connect, but don't directly affect the storyline and I post them to my Patreon as extra content. So if that works for you, that's something you could always do too ^-^
      I hope that somewhat answers your question, haha o-O Try not to overthink it too much and go with your gut instinct ;)) It's your story, after all!

    First of all, I agree with everything you said in this video, so Thank you for that.
    Secondly, I just recently came back home from my vacation, but I’m ready to get back to work on my own webcomic project.
    Thirdly, it would probably take too long to explain all the details of my own story, so I’ll just say something about my inspirations:
    My protagonist lives with his single mother on Earth at first, and that was partially inspired by Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet, Hogarth Hughes from The Iron Giant, and also technically Peter Quill from Guardians of the Galaxy, all 3 of whom had a certain loving family relationship with their Moms.
    It’s maybe a little bit childish, but I love this trope in storytelling.
    Do you have any thoughts on this topic?

    • @prism_world
      @prism_world  Рік тому +2

      Hey! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! :D As for the that particular trope, I’m a sucker for it too, so I have no other points to add 😂 That’s an excellent starting point and I really wish you well on your writing! Feel free to come back and share your comic when it’s ready 😎❤️

    Thank you so much for the Tips because I feel super confident now with my web comic process! however I want advice on what to do next....I just finished my outline and I have no idea if I should move on to dialogue script or thumbnailing because I feel like I’m ready to draw and I just wanna work on dialogue as I go.... 🤔 but then again a script can guide me on what to do next in panels

    • @prism_world
      @prism_world  2 роки тому +1

      Ooh, sounds like you’ve made a lot of progress, that’s great! :D Your next move is 100% up to you! Personally, I like that my dialogue is already finished just because it’s way less work for me to deal with now (I still make adjustments but nothing too crazy) And like you mentioned, it helps me visualize my thumbnails as I create.
      However, I have a good Webtoon creator friend who only has her story outline done and she writes the dialogue as she creates each episode, which seems to work just fine for her ☺️ In the end, it’s your call, so do what works for you!

  • @cattatuie
    @cattatuie 2 роки тому +1

    I started my webcomic to learn to draw better, so I didn’t develop a very robust story and tried a lot of different stuff in the initial chapters. But now that I feel more confident in drawing, I want to have a more structured story, even if the start was kind of sporadic. I wonder if it’ll still work or will it be confusing? ahh idk!

    • @prism_world
      @prism_world  2 роки тому +1

      Ahhhh I wish I could help! But every story is different and in a case like this, you probably should go with your gut ☺️ Take a hiatus or short break and really look at what you’ve got so far: Do you want to start over and reboot the whole thing or see if you can tie the story together later on? I just recommend taking the time to brainstorm and weigh the pros and cons ^-^ It’s really cool that you want to take your comic to the next level, so I’m cheering for you! ✨
